Have done so, even managed to find my dad's picture in one of the squadron photographs.

My father was not a pilot or aircrew, he was a copper and sheet metal worker and only went there towards the end of the war as he was in a protected profession. Before joining the RAF he was a pattern maker at a shipyard on the Clyde.

After the war the base commander tried to get my father to sign up for an extended service but my father had plans for his own business when he got de-mobbed.

During his service he was sent to Bisley to represent the base, he was a marksman with no interest in firearms, somewhere buried in a box I have a certificate for his shooting when he was in the RAF.

Can someone tell me when we can expect to see this Spitfire released? I've looked through the thread, but I haven't seen anything to indicate a date. I'm just wondering how far on they are with it really.

ENGINE MODELLING

Many pages here but I didn't find a post on this aspect of the Merlin.

For the P-51D we have the Packard Merlin who's failure characteristics can be summed up as "BANG!"

Can we please have a slightly more sophisticated failure model for the Spitfire Merlin introducing degradation/loss of power with overheating before eventual failure. Can this code also be retro-fitted to the P-51D Packard Merlin?

To be fair, that already is in place it seems. Just hard to notice. When I overrev the P51 (and thus damage it, I assume), you can hear that the engine starts to make grinding noises. They're soft though and eventually it goes to the Kolbenfresser you describe as the BANG:)
