DSR_T-800
For me it will be amazing to obtain "Razorback" version. Unfortunately I don't know the whole problem of DCS P-47, only rumors. But if the foundation stone is the aircraft version, I'll be happy with earlier machines. Razorback is definitely more bad ass looking. IMO the late P-47 series are better looking. Dorsal fin, permanent pylons and the review mirror on top of the canopy(field modification). 1 http://i.imgur.com/LYvIQFB.gifv

WinterH
Not too big of a P-47 guy but... I've always found bubble canopy ones to be looking quite better than razorbacks. Donut
The first post wasn't created by ED so it doesn't imply anything regarding the date they started the work on. Good point. They could be far along with 3D modeling, systems, etc., and just need the wind tunnel date to finish up the flight model. i5 7600K @4.8GHz | 1080 Ti | 32GB 3200MHz | SSD | DCS SETTINGS | "COCKPIT"

I didn't say it did, but it was 4 years ago showing the plane doesn't need another 1-2 years to finish. That's what I was responding too in case you missed it. The post being 4 years ago doesn't show it doesn't need another 1-2 years either :) The OP was made when the Kickstarter was live and the plane set was announced & ED certainly didn't start it there and then. BuzzU
You think one plane needs 6 years to make? Most complete sims are done in that time. Keep in mind the Spit and 109 were being made at the same time as the Jug. How long have they been out? I know the Jug got delayed, because of info for the FM. The rest of it should be done. Two years to finish the FM for one plane? We're not talking about a complicated FM like the F/A-18C either. Buzz

Don't think I explained it well enough: It's been around as a planned project for 4 years, doesn't mean they've done anything else on it barring some initial 3d modelling + data gathering. They totally might have, but they also might have not. Here is a thought: Would you spend your time/money/resources creating a high quality 3d model and textures, when you've got an unknown delay on the systems and flight model + plenty of other projects you can do and complete in the mean time? Two years to finish the FM for one plane? We're not talking about a complicated FM like the F/A-18C either. It's a PFM. It'll be as complex as the F/A-18C's will be, hence the delays caused by not having the needed data. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here! ED Team NineLine Posted October 11, 2017 ED Team Share Posted October 11, 2017 WWII aircraft are generally 2-3 years to make. This depends on info and such. Most of the time they are done 1 at a time, with some overlap at the beginning and the end. Also, dont think ED's WWII aircraft dudes are sitting idle either. DSR_T-800
I think BuzzU is just a bit irritated on the lack of the official news regarding the P-47 development. All I want is the current model to set as my wallpaper :P. If we need more wind tunnel data on the P-47 for its completion wouldn't it have been found by now? So what is ED doing to compensate for the lack of wind tunnel data? http://i.imgur.com/LYvIQFB.gifv
BuzzU
Yes, i'd fly the P-47 exclusively when it shows up. So, i'm a bit anxious for it. Any kind of news would be welcome. Buzz

Burning Bridges
"easy to land" - that alone gets me intrigued ;) As a kid I was quite keen on the P-47's lines, I built a lot of aircraft models and the thing that fascinated me about this plane was the huge gaping snout - so big that a Spitfire or Messerschmitt could dissappear in it. Today I am not to sure about it's beauty, it looks like a huge bathtub with the wings of a Spitfire and a ridiculously powerful engine. But I think I could love it, because of the very qualities it has : easy to fly, makes a hell lot of noise, can take lots of damage and carries a small flak battery in its wings. Magic Zach
ED better do a good job on the sounds, unlike....everything else. P-47 needs to sound accurate too. Throaty and deep, like the real radial engine. But I'm really into immersion, so I like quality sounds and effects.
