bkthunder Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 ...without having windows say it used up all available ram, despite having a proper paging file etc. I wish it would be playable and wouldn't crash every single time I play it. I wish it would run just as good as Rise of flight, Arma 3, Crysis, battlefield 3 any other game that has 10x the graphics of DCS and 1/100th of the trouble. Thanks for the AFM, thanks for the new contrails, thanks for the awesome modules, I wish you guys were 3rd party devs for some other sim platform, 'cause none of this is any use if the base is a faulted, old, un-optimized piece of kit. /end of rant :badmood: Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Lange_666 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Seems you have some sort of problem then if Windows says it ran out of memory because i used to have it running without a problem on 6GB and while doing a little benchmark test, i noticed it never went above 3GB during the test. Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
Shiwaz Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I dont think DCS is even able to utilize more than 4 gb ram... My own testing shows it never went above... Asus z170 motherboard; Intel i5-6600K OCd to 4,5GHz; Corsair 32GB DDR4 3000MHz; ASUS Cerberus 1070 Ti; Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD; Schiit Valhalla 2 headphone amp w/ Bifrost multibit DAC and Sennheiser 650 headphones; HP Reverb; Saitek x65-F; TrackIR5
blackbelter Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I am running DCSW on a computer with 8G memory, in a fluid-like smooth manner. Maybe the bottleneck of your system is something else?
sobek Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I used to have that problem until i reactivated my page file. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
bkthunder Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 lucky you...my page file has always been on. Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Mustang Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) 8gb RAM system here getting quite long in the tooth too, yet i run 1.2.6 and developer builds quite nicely :) I used to run my Win 7 without a pagefile, but post 1.2.5 i started to use a fixed 1526/1536 size and i never get any memory problems anymore.
