Since we are at the subject Olgerd, could you outline a bit what exactly will be part of the WAFM ? Will this only be about physical forces on the weapon body or also include subsystem modeling, realistic probability of subsystem failures or more detailed warhead simulation ? I would love to learn more about the WAFM if you have time and willingness to explain.

 

Not much to say right now. Ideally all issues you are mentioned will be covered sooner or later. We started with ballistics and aerodynamics. We should continue with fuses, rocket motors and control systems. Then sensors... etc. Will see.

What puzzles me is how you guys are going to make the launch instrumentation cope with the real perfomance of the weapons such as DLZ, bomb CCIP etc. Thats going to be a pain since no longer will the weapons behave linearly making it easy for predicting their behaviour after launch.

Precisely, but they have larger budgets and more people graduated in aerospace than ED does. More, they make their own stuff wich is classified.

yes, they have more budgets and men resources but we have one little advantage over them - we can release patch to fix our bugs, they can't :D

The things you mentioned can be calculated with any kind of ballistics or dynamics. The difference between our characteristics and real ones will be present of course as we have not all necessary real performance data for all weapons. But generally weapons will behave much more "physically". In many cases it will be even easier to get more realistic behavior of a particular weapon as the principles of function will be closer to the real ones.

I said what I said because Im making a car suspension model, and I wrote a series of physiscs equations for it wich iterate themselves in each milisecond.

Now, while I know exactly how they work, I have no way to predict the cars deflection, or behaviour in the future.The system is not linear and Untill I have the accumulative of the results (spacial increments) I cant tell what the trajectory of each component will look like. For a prediction of that sort I would have to devise a simpler way to calculate those movments by energetic analysis wich I cant do because as I said its not linear. (to make matters worse I have to eleminate circular references by referring certain values the the last time interval before the current one).

 

I can only guess the trouble your engineers will have in their hands but then they are probably much more qualifyed than I will ever be.icon10.gif

Actually same problem for let's say DLZ calculation already exists with the old (nonlinear too) missile dynamics/guidance "physics". Having some different behavior model it is possible to simulate series of a missile flights with different initial conditions and to get a tabulated data for DLZ calculation. Of course criterias of estimation (either successfull or not will be the intercept) will play the important role in the final results.

Well...He hs talking about the unpredictable nature of objects in reality. You can test a suspension on a variety of crbs, bumps etc...but you never know how the slope inclinations of the bumps on the road, their depth, tghe car's velocity, friction characteristics, resistance etc are all handling. :icon_supe

It is not planned for 1.2 init release. It is the subject to change possibly.

ive been sitting here reasing these threads and I think that its absolutely ****ing kickass that georgia will be included as well as (hopefully) a dynamic campaign, as well as trees that look 3 dimentional instead of 1 dimentional.

 

I asked this question some months ago and I am still curious about it, but what new models will be included in 1.2? Im not including weapons in this question but just planes that will replace existing low poly count models.

 

OH and BTW I am one of FEW FEW FEW 1.02 players left...Thats why I stay put on the other board and dont post here so often.

Really? Where di dyou read about the Dynamic Campaign, 'cause the place I read it at (some thread around here) clearly stated that it won't be for 1.2.
