I'm trying to avoid participating in any panic inducing posts on here and I'm a pretty patient guy but I did indeed ask within this forum, in a couple of locations, the status of the weekly dev meetings...with silence as the response.:music_whistling:

It is still early in the process but I'm sure we'd all like things to proceed in an organized professional manner.

To be honest, I had expected to at least be contacted sometime after the Kickstarter ended by an admin or assistant of some capacity. I think emailing at least the people who offered up $500 and above would be appropriate. There are a bunch of us.

This is also something to bear in mind: I have backed this project via paypal with 60 bucks, and in the original statement they said that all the backers will be contacted in the first week. We're almost 3 weeks later and I've still heard nothing. I don't want to seem greedy or something, I know those guys have a huge load of work to be done but I would like to know when I can expect to be contacted. I've sent out a pm to Luthier last week but I still have to get a reply.

Am I the only one that has this? Or are more people having this, in lack of better word, issue?

edit:

Correct me if I am wrong but are the paypal backers supposed to be included into a backer section? I thought that was stated on the kickstarter page.

All backers should be included in the backer section, regardless of where you pledged.

As there is no backer section at this point, noone is included yet :)

Very much agree - I think that is a very sensible attitude.

What´s so unusual about a delay? Pretty much all 3rd parties are behind shedule with their updates. Even ED has backed away from the regular updates, plus in the course of the KS-campaign they practically vouched for Ilya and the project, so it´s all legit.

I also agree that it might be a nice gesture on Ilya´s behalf to at least post that there´s nothing worth posting about, but I´m not getting excited about it. If a greater number of people does however for this delay of news, I don´t want to know what´s gonna happen if (or when) the projected release date of Sep 2014 is not met because the game might not be 100% ready...

Concerning the lack of updates: I suggest to Ilya to do as beczl has done - release an update every month and just call it a weekly update. ;)

@upandaway:

Timely communication with your pledgers helps build trust, and in the case of delays it helps appease any grudges. For example, if the sep2014 deadline seems impossible to reach, just post about it publicly, say "sorry guys, we're working 24/7 to deliver but had some issues", and people WILL understand.

Lack of communication, on the other hand, brews anger, especially if that communication was promised by the producers and obviously expected by the pledgers.

Communication is the key. It costs nothing to post an update just to let people know you weren't mangled by wild beasts somewhere.

Viper, your point is taken and taken well

However, childish thread in the sense that delivery is estimated at @ September 2014 - did some miss this minor detail?

Pledge $1 or more

198 backers

Our heartfelt thanks, access to the backer section with weekly development updates, videos, and more, and a special BACKER medal on our official forums.

Estimated delivery: Sep 2014

Another responded with: but what about the $65 level, which indicates delivery date of October 2013...

Response to that is: It comes back to delivery dates offered on each level, as the references are made with regard to each level. eg the 65 refers to the forty, the forty refers to the ten and the ten refers to the one dollar level

ergo the 65 dollar level includes the one dollar level. Surely you see that?

Cm'on now. let's quit arguing about silly things. Point is Luthier cocked up. All we need is for him to post a one-liner saying why. Anything will do.

Same here, pledged to paypal. Got an automated response saying thank you and that's it.

Also PM'd Luthier here on the forums on 13-OKT-2013, no reply so far.

Agree - that´s why I wrote it would make sense to at least post that there is nothing to post really, just to break the silence and communicate.

Personally, I don´t really care too much about it right now. Other projects for DCS interest me much more, especially since it´s about a year away. If anything goes wrong at that time, I might be worried.

yes, I did see that Viper... sadly though, some see it as it isn't.

If the $65 level of the digital copy of the P51 has been honoured, that is that level honoured, with the other levels referred to as included, being delivered as each referred to level indicates.

"legals" are a scary scary world of wordings

Luthier's only mistake was in trying too hard to placate people... and yep, you're right, Luthier could do well to pop in.

While Ilya should definitely give us a bell every now and then, you've also got to remember that as per his own announcement he's currently going through divorce as well. So how 'bout cutting the guy some slack here, huh?

What exactly are people trying to achieve? do we just want Luthier to hand back all the money, cancel the project and leave all WWII flight sim development to 1CGS?

I think you missed the essence of the majority of replies. From what I see, no one is asking for more than regular communication. From my perspective it is a reasonable request from financially tied members of the community. I am not trashing or bad-mouthing anyone and i'm pretty sure we all want RRG to be successful.

is it impossible to try and get the message through by private channels? because the more and more forums fill up with threads like this it becomes counter productive to a titles potential success.

There have been updates in the terrain thread though, Merlin

If you don't care about it then it seems like you never played COD and looked in the banana forum.

Oh, I know that story, and yes, I have played it - after I bought it for 5€ on steam last year...

I gave the man my money because I want to support his idea / the project. Right now, I (personally!) don´t think the updates are too decisive. He´s probably still busy working on his reward lists or whatever. As I said, if this were to happen at a later and more crucial point in development, I might worry.

And that has been great. If Ilya wants to hand off the updates to dev team members I think it would free him up to manage the overall effort. The word "regular" is the critical detail here that is angering the natives. If something is offered and does not materialize it can create a stir. Like I've said before, I don't need two weekly updates... but some sort of scheduled regular status would be a good start.

cool.. at least you agree the "updates" have been there and lets be honest here... the natives can get angered over anything. :)

Once again, it was stated at one point that there will be twice weekly updates by Ilya. Yes, "some updates" have occurred... but in contrast to what was expressed. I'm happy with the terrain work and I've tried to lend as much help as I can there. My "concern" that I believe is shared amongst several of us is with official lines of communication and coordination. I do not have a direct line of communication with the "main man" so I rely on the forum and the kickstarter page. A published timeline might also help to set expectations. Any status is better than no status, IMO.

Generally I agree that people tend to overreact and get impatient here BUT now you have individuals who have given their hard earned money on good faith to help this sim become great. No one has said "Is it done yet?!?" Just looking for consistency.
