Sorry dude, but I think you are wrong here. I think specially the baked 'Ambient Occlusion' is the thing which makes the trees look so awesomne and real.

 

I have to say, these textures are way more than just a mod! It is a shame that it got dumped by ED.

 

Nevertheless, amazing work!

 

I didn't say it's useless, just that it doesn't look natural on the city trees as it's too strong. It looks perfect on the trees in the forests as they are surrounded by other trees that create that shadow but it should be toned down on the trees inside cities. I also agree that it makes the trees look better than the stock ones but there's room for improvement IMHO.

+1, yes these trees seems to be too cartoonish related to the higher resolution of the ground texture.

 

And all of them are just the same tree shape cloned. So it is ok, but it is far from for example google 3D flight simulator which is also very simple, but looks more real.

Yes, the engine of the Google Earth has a full 3D, phototexturized and real time shadowed objects, generated from the satellite image by the early version of the Deep Stereo algorythm.

Those are on the long To-Do list yet,

 

Once Lightning and other Animations are completed, and everything is re-grouped and linked back together, I'll start "Destroying" the Wings and stuff etc.

 

For the Lighting, I basically removed all the "Lens Flares"/Halos that used to be there, and replaced them w/ actual 3D Illuminated meshes of the Lights when they are lit, and a Light Source,

 

I reduced the Size of the "Flares" for the Strobes and Landing Gear, as those lights are Intense enough to have some flaring, the strobes are 3D mesh for Light Light, Smaller Flare, and Light source with very High Intensity Settings.

 

it Looks alot more realistic, especially up close and at 60 Fps (something this video wasnt, lol, i think I had GPU throttling keeping me around 25-30 FPS).

 

Basically:

-Continued Lighting Art Asset Development

(More Lights to work on, tweaking intensity and fall off, cockpit lighting for F/G Pits etc etc)

 

-Continued Effects Art Asset Development

(Overwing Vapor (not affiliated w/ any effect ED has planned), LERX Vapor, Day/Night ABs)

 

-Continued Texture Baking/Tweaking

(Adding more details to some area's of the texture that are missing maps or generically mapped, adding baked shadows for area's that need to be shadowed / AO)

 

-Continued Mesh Refinement

(Adding Details to areas, adding control surfaces and textures, adding items internally that arent modeled (engine parts, access panels, pop up intakes, radar assembly, chocks, remove before flight flags, intake and exhaust covers etc etc)

 

-Continued Animation Development

(Wing Flex Needs Redone as I changed mesh linking, Custom 3D ABs, Vapor Deployment, BORT Animations, as well as More Control Surface and Visibility Tweaking).

 

-Continued LUA Development

(I have notes everywhere in what was usually a pretty clean and well formatted Custom LUA setup, also adding new stuff as I determine their value and functions, Adjusting parameters to AID in realistic AI Use).

 

-Continued External EDM Item Development

(ANALQ-218 PODs, ANALQ-99 PODs (And Animations), Weapons, and other Items not part of the Base Model)

 

 

Damage Model is Literally the last thing on my list and will consist of:

-Making Damage textures, height maps, etc

-Making Destroyed Meshes/textures and animating the visibility

-Adjusting the entire Damage Section of the LUA w/ custom items and animations.

-Creating a New Collision mesh Model for Damage Model

 

 

EricJ has done well over 3 Dozen Liveries, for the E/F/Gs already, and they all look fantastic.

 

 

Obviously the External Model is Based on Lot 28 w/ the Updated Heat Exchangers, but the AI will use APG-73 still.

 

Also Note, this Will be AI Only, F/A-18E, F/A-18F, E/A-18G, K/A-18E (Tanker)(If I can get it to work w/o Jury Rigging lol).
