Very casual beginner friendly sim-focused squadron with not much activity. Currently consisting of two members - one DCS newcomer, and one veteran. Squadron name and theme heavily influenced by Vikings, and made as part of Bounty_V's twitch DCS activities. Squadron skins are TBD/WIP. Established September, 1988 in Kesmai's Air Warrior as the Damned, VF-81, VA81, by the then CAG Ptero. Dis-established and moved to Aces High around 2001 where it was re-established and remains current in AHIII with CO, Tequila Chaser (TC). We have a presence in AHIII, IL2, Elite Dangerous and now DCS. We still have 40 members still on the books and 13 who will be moving here so it's time to establish the Squadron here. SINCE 2017, OUR NINTH VIRTUAL SQUADRON SIMULATES THE FLIGHT OPERATIONS OF THE NINTH HUNTING AND ATTACK SQUADRON OF THE SPANISH NAVY AIRCRAFT FLOTILLA (FLOAN), WHICH WITH MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF HISTORY BEHIND IT AND MORE THAN 50,000 HOURS OF FLIGHT, PROVIDES THE ABILITY TO BE THE ONLY SHIPPABLE FIXED-WING SQUADRON IN THE NAVY. THE AV-8B HARRIER II + IS THE AIRCRAFT THAT THIS SQUADRON HAS; THE FIRST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD CAPABLE OF TAKING OFF AND LANDING VERTICALLY OR ON SHORT RUNWAYS, WHICH FORMS AN EXCELLENT PAIRING WITH THE L-61 “JUAN CARLOS I” AIRCRAFT CARRIER, ITS REASON FOR BEING AND FROM WHICH IT OPERATES PARTICIPATING IN THE MISSIONS ENTRUSTED TO IT.

Since 1954, the Spanish Navy Aircraft Flotilla (FLOAN) has been in charge of providing air support and protection to The Fleet and providing air support to the Marine Corps. It is made up of eleven squadrons in total, seven of them active and four deactivated, each equipped with a specific aircraft model. Coinciding with the celebration of the centenary of the creation of the Spanish Naval Aeronautics on 09/15/1917, since 2017, our Flotilla de Aeronaves Virtual simulates the flight operations of the FLOAN, the Air Weapon of the Spanish Navy. www.flotilladeaeronavesvirtual.com

AIR COMBAT IS A TEAM SPORT - Fighting in the air-to-air and air-to-surface environment is a relatively new form of combat, spanning a period of just over 100 years. During that time, rapid technological development has spurred progress from very primitive weapon systems to the present beyond visual range and "point and shoot" capabilities of modern fighters. Nevertheless, the very basic principles of aerial combat have remained virtually unchanged, seasoned only by actual combat and training experiences. Aerial combat is by far the most difficult aspect of flight to understand and master. The arena is very dynamic, and the skills used must be learned over time. Personal desire and discipline will determine how quickly the individual masters the required skills. We honor all those who have served before us with passion and realism using the Digital Combat Simulator software. Through Discipline, Dedication, and Teamwork, we rise to the mission!
