Idea/Request for Campaign: WW2 BFM/ACM Training
Reflected replied to dsc106's topic in Reflected Simulations
I'm actually considering building one for the Hellcat. If you can fly that, you can fly any other warbirds, same engine as the Corsair and P-47, and the campaign could teach carrier ops too. Because it would be meant for new players too, I'd definitely have to use a free map, probably Caucasus. -
Title: Dedicated Server Rejects Even Blank Caucasus Missions as "Unsupported" After Today's Patch Hi all, I'm running a dedicated DCS server for personal/multiplayer use and hitting a wall with mission loading. This started happening right after applying today's patch (October 23, 2025). The server starts fine but immediately rejects any mission (including a vanilla blank Caucasus .miz) as "unsupported," leading to "server_start failed: no valid missions in the list." The web GUI shows the missions in the list but greys them out on start attempt, and the server stops right after. Setup Details: DCS Version: [Insert your exact version, e.g., 2.9.12 stable / openbeta—post-patch] Install Path: Fresh install in a new directory (e.g., C:\Games\DCS_Fresh) Launch Command: "C:\Games\DCS_Fresh\Bin\DCS_server.exe" --server --norender -w dcs_serverrelease Workspace: Isolated via -w parameter (C:\Users\Martin\Saved Games\DCS.dcs_serverrelease) Web GUI: Default port 8088 (reverted from custom 8089—connects fine) OS: Windows [10/11], no mods enabled, Caucasus map installed/verified Firewall: Ports forwarded (10308 UDP, 8088 TCP), running as Admin Note: Full client version (same install dir and Saved Games root) runs perfectly on the same machine—missions load fine in Mission Editor and Multiplayer host mode. Issue is isolated to dedicated server. The Issue: Server launches and binds to ports correctly. GUI scans and lists missions, but on "Start," it logs "removed unsupported mission file" for each, empties the list, and fails with the errors below. This happens for modded missions and fresh blanks—no units, no scripts, saved directly from Mission Editor. (Client loads the same .miz files without issue.) GUI then throws Lua errors querying server info (e.g., "attempt to index global 'mission' (a nil value)"). Steps I've Tried (in order, with fresh workspace resets between): Full Reinstall & Saved Games Reset: Deleted old install, reinstalled to new dir. Renamed root Saved Games\DCS to backup, let server recreate fresh. Also deleted/renamed workspace DCS.dcs_serverrelease multiple times to force regen. Mission Placement: Created blank Caucasus mission in full client Mission Editor (New > Empty > Save to Saved Games\DCS\MissionsMultiplayer). Copied to workspace DCS.dcs_serverrelease\MissionsMultiplayer\[Blank-23102025-Caucases].miz. Tried root Saved Games\Missions too—no diff. Config Edits: Deleted/renamed Config\options.lua and Config\serverSettings.lua to force defaults. Manually added to new serverSettings.lua: missions = { {["path"] = "MissionsMultiplayer\\[Blank-23102025-Caucases].miz", ["name"] = "Blank Caucasus Test"} } Set ["Missions"] = "MissionsMultiplayer/" in options.lua. Repair & Verify: Ran DCS Updater > Repair (full scan, Caucasus confirmed installed). Permissions set to full control for user on all folders. Path/Workspace Tweaks: Confirmed dcs_variant.txt = "dcs_serverrelease". Tested without -w (uses root)—same rejection. No symlinks; all physical copies. GUI/Browser: Tested in Incognito Chrome/Firefox, cleared cache. GUI refreshes list but still fails on start. Logs Check: No other errors pre-start (e.g., tracks fixed by creating folder). Unzipped .miz—empty Scripts/Options, re-zipped. Nothing sticks—the log always paths to root Saved Games\[mission].miz despite copies to workspace, and rejects immediately. Relevant Log Snippet (Latest Attempt with Blank Caucasus): text 2025-10-23 01:12:09.458 INFO WORLDGENERAL (Main): loading mission from: "C:\Users\Martin\Saved Games\[Blank-23102025-Caucases].miz" 2025-10-23 01:12:45.147 WARNING LOG (2572): 1 duplicate message(s) skipped. 2025-10-23 01:12:45.147 INFO ASYNCNET (Main): server has started 2025-10-23 01:12:45.148 INFO ASYNCNET (Main): server has stopped 2025-10-23 01:12:45.148 WARNING ASYNCNET (Main): removed unsupported mission file from the list: C:\Users\Martin\Saved Games\[Blank-23102025-Caucases].miz 2025-10-23 01:12:45.148 ERROR ASYNCNET (Main): server_start failed: no valid missions in the list 2025-10-23 01:07:28.807 ERROR NET (Main): Failed assert `0` Has anyone seen this post-patch or in recent updates? Is it a path validation bug in the workspace loader? Any log tweaks or hidden configs I'm missing? Appreciate any pointers—been grinding this for hours! Thanks,

Have you excluded the DCS folders in your Anti-Virus solution? It could be that the file has been quarantined and the Updater believes DCS is using it. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

Alright, either COOP is fully implemented, or one step away from it Helmet is now a beast. Since radar has such higher gimbal limits then IRST, you can get sensor lock up to the full off boresight range of R-73 and R-27. And then once you get that sensor lock your radar will maintain with the +/-70 degree gimbal and -45/+60 degree gimbal. Your IRST is flared or out of limits radar picks it up perfectly. They fall into +/-50 kmh gap of radar then IRST picks it up perfectly. Very nice.

In trying to update tonight, I ran into an error where the update process is trying to delete files related to the F-4 from the core mods folder. I tried doing a repair and renaming the first file that generated the error message (a .dll file) and even tried to delete it manually (Windows says the file is still open in DCS, but DCS is shut down. See the attached log file ( the error is at the end of the file.) autoupdate_log.txt

Maneuvering On The Ground With Differential Braking
Sickdog replied to AG-51_Razor's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'll pile on as well. I'd be less frustrated if someone from M3 or ED would speak up and say something like "yes, we know it's a bug, we're working on it". It's so simple to least acknowledge the 7 pages of this thread with some sort of comment, we shouldn't have to rant and rave like this and build up such negative feelings in what is actually a great module otherwise. -
1st Detent Gun Trigger not working
AeriaGloria replied to Oberst Struppi's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ahhh thank you!! -
So the change is now once you lock a target if you pull the first detent for the gun a circle appears that if you put the cross hairs in the center of the circle you will boresight the target at any range. This works even if you just have radar lock7 When you close inside 1600m the circle goes over the target. So in other words you can get it like if you have IRST lock

I don't know what's so hard about adding this to the changelog, but anyway, here's the changelog that had been sent to ED in July (and several times since). As mentioned in the first post, these changes were published with DCS 2.9.18 in July 2025. This is the condensed version of the first post. A-10C Iron Flag Part I Campaign by Baltic Dragon (updated in DCS 2.9.18) All missions: datalink for instructor pilot's A-10C fixed; numerous small subtitle updates; improved readability of flight plan images M03: fixed BIFF's missing comms after touchdown M06: most subtitles updated; visibility adjusted to be (slightly) above required minimums; corrected radio voice clarity near some waypoints M06 short versions: fuel at air spawn adjusted; broken radio comms at mission start fixed; updated sequence of voice lines M09: updated manual references; updated preset frequencies; fixed missing comms with Vandal; updated kneeboards to match new frequencies M10: resized campaign success image to slightly less epic proportions; updated tester credits (Jakes, MadDog, Nexonix01)

Did I make a Mistake Windows 10 to 11
Dangerzone replied to chardly38's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah - it's crazy. It really is ironical. In the hay-day, I favored Microsoft over Apple (with a passion), because Microsoft gave you options, and allowed you to have freedom by having your PC setup with the way you want it vs apple's way of forcing people to do things a particular way. It seems Microsoft have come complete about-course. They are not the company they once were, and their products are nothing like they once were. Given more applications are cloud/online, and there's more options available too - it almost seems as though Microsoft are dead keen on destroying what sets them apart and encouraging users to reconsider what options are available to them. The conspiracy theorist inside me wonders if some of their management has competitors cash in their pockets and that there's an intentional effort to damage Microsoft from the inside - because that's the only thing that makes sense. I shudder to think of what Windows 12 is going to bring. Microsoft have that trend of one good, one bad - and with win 11 being in the bad cycle, I was hoping Win 12 will be the good one - but now I have serious doubts. -
The Germans, being outnumbered, were in a target rich environment. American pilots had to be really aggressive to even find an enemy.

Microsoft is using windows 11 to force users to employ Microsoft accounts, no longer will you be able to use just a local account. Hopefully there will be tricks to bypass this latest en<profanity>ification of windows. - Today

fixed AI flies way too fast with sling load
CRUD replied to Don Rudi's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
For AI I would just add a bunch of way points adjusting the speed appropriately on approach to the DZ. For AI helicopters it led to a smoother transition from full flight to the DZ for cargo or troop drops, it also kept the aircraft from making a bunch of crazy circles. It's AI, it don't know if you don't tell it... -
Respectfully - showing the emphasis's above - this is a problem with many of your replies on a number of topics suggests "If it doesn't affect me, it's not needed for anyone else." It's great that you don't need it for your particular setup/circumstance. That's fantastic. But there's no need to constantly reply to argue and undermine other people's genuine (and often correct and helpful for many other setups) just because it's doesn't benefit your particular setup. The truth is Core parking has been the contributing factor for performance issues for a number of users (not you)- including myself, and disabling it has been an instant fix more than once. YMMV applies here - and it's really OK that it does. A little recognition of that could go a long way instead of this constant rebuttal and arguing.

Same here, also the three status lights above the EKRAN display are effected too.

1st Detent Gun Trigger not working
AeriaGloria replied to Oberst Struppi's topic in Bugs and Problems
I don’t understand. Aren’t those just the normal boresight indicators for IRST or radar lock? Unless you mean it simply puts a circle around the center crosshairs until 1600m. That diamond, it has to move up and down on 45 degree scale. There is no other way I can see
