investigating mk82, 83 bombs explosion radius too large after update?
shagrat replied to SalakauHeadman's topic in Weapon Bugs
Also, there were modifications to the actual bomb body, that aimed at improving the fragmentation damage and radius. Like pre-fragmented casings, optimized materials and air-burst fuzes. In the recent conflicts the requirement changed toward less, but precise damage. Though typically that was addressed by separate low yield or kinetic weapons. I mentioned it in an earlier post, in DCS the difficulty is currently to balance the lack of fragmentation modeling with the effects of blast damage. Blast damage naturally travels faster than fragments. So the new adjusted blast radius is a stand in for fragmentation, which in itself is a step in the right direction and very much appreciated (finally a bomb, rather than a glorified handgrenade). On the downside, the danger to low flying aircraft is calculated by the fragmentation pattern over time, so with the blast reaching a low flying aircraft, way faster than the fragments would, we need to delay the bombs fuze in a HD low altitude attack, so we clear the excessive blast range faster. But we need to be aware, a friendly ground unit or helicopter inside the RED is not "safe". The "Danger Close" definition, is friendlies inside the 0.1 PI RED... and that's 425 m according to the GICHD document and other sources. If we assume it is a good idea to have cleared the airspace inside a 450 m radius around the impact point before(!) the bomb explodes, we should be safe. -

Weather mod v1.8.1 for DCS
Archangel44 replied to bandit648's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
It’s in there. He’s had lightning for some time now. ” To create thunderstorms: 1.) Select NOTHING from the Clouds Preset menu 2.) Configure the base altitude as desired 3.) Adjust the thickness to something between 15000-30000ft 4.) You can choose any density setting but I added six new ones. Density 11 - 16 are tweaked for thunderstorms 5.) Choose Thunderstorm or Rain from the Precptns option 6.) I recommend adding a lot of wind and turbulence as well 7.) Experiment with settings to get the look you want and enjoy!- 347 replies

I'm trying to find a mod that has more additional civil style aircraft. I have the civil aircraft mod that has the Airbuses and some Boeing. I'm trying to find some of the smaller birds. Cessnas, Falcons, Gulfstreams, etc...Anyone familiar with anything like that?

The X-101 cruise missile cannot overcome the Caucasus Mountains during tests. It is fixed by raising the engine thrust to 5000N, since the R-95-300TM engine has a thrust of 510kgf. The code also contains a large RCS 0.16, although the missile is stealth. For comparison, the AGM-84D code specifies 0.08. Also, the X-101 missiles in the salvo have different flight speeds. тест х-101.miz

Hello, I'm sorry but I don't find search bar in mission editor or encyclopedia, where are there ? Thanks
-
I honestly don’t believe they have anyone actively working on it. I think they tinker with it from time to time.

EDIT: I forgot to point out this uses bash from Git for Windows, it's not a cmd command. No, that command merely detects the missions that have SnapViews anywhere in the mission (but that will likely be under Config/View). In most case the whole Config folder from inside the *.miz file can go away (my experience, of course, somebody more qualified can clarify or point out exceptions). Don't do this for the missions in the DCS installation directory - instead, copy the mission into your Missions (under Saved Games), fix it there and leave the default one be. It would be overridden by the next update anyway. So just play your fixed mission instead of the one from the training.

Since January 2024, the English manual has been in 'proof read' status. The latest statement from ED on this was that there is currently a lack of corresponding manual writers.

Riverman? Someone on here? I was a 15T, UH-60 mechanic/crew chief for over 12 years in the Army, 2004-2016. I've worked on the A, L and the M model. Can't beat an A+ model; the lighter weight A but with the L engines and driveline. It hauled butt; but the M is the new hotness. Riverman and I need to get with whoever makes the module and school them Lol

I couldn't get a pure clean version 6 to work properly here, missing weapons, textures, no control at spawn, among other things. I went back to post 1, installed the first version, then installed V6 over the top overwriting files, works perfectly now ? maybe the latest version is missing some files IDK ? Had a blast trying this one out tho, thanks.

That's it. It works ! Thanks. btw: in my case it's some of the official F-16C training lessons which came with the modul.

P-51D bundled missions containing Config (snap views), tracks, etc...
virgo47 replied to virgo47's topic in Bugs and Problems
It seems this was remedied to some degree. I don't have all modules, but the current output from the command above is much shorter: F-16C/Missions/Training/Lesson 20 - AGM-65 Maverick.miz M-2000C/Missions/Training/M2K Training 04 FINAL ILS.miz Su-25A/Missions/Campaigns/CWW-Outro.miz I'm not sure about F-16C and M-2000C, whether the missions were updated, if I don't own the plane and just trialled it in the past. They seem to be as the date on the F-16C mission is 2025-03-19, so it's quite up to date. In any case, it's much better - as for P-51D, it's actually fixed. Maybe the command above can be run occasionally as some part of testing process by someone having all the modules: for i in */Missions/*/*.miz; do unzip -l "$i" | grep -iq SnapViews.lua && echo $i ; done BTW: this uses bash from Windows Git, not cmd. In any case, I thank you for the fixes. -
That’s because it’s moving with your view which is moving with your head tracking. Not sure how you think that would work differently. The whole purpose of head tracking is to move your view. By definition the HMD will always be where you’re looking.

Maneuvering On The Ground With Differential Braking
Doughguy replied to AG-51_Razor's topic in Bugs and Problems
This video? Well i posted a track where i exactly do that. Iirc i dont even need full rudder. Ill retry later. I can only state that only if wind is involved that i cannot turn. Dont experience this with other a/c. Its the same in Geo´s track. He´s got wind in the mission. Remove that and tadaaa.. works. -
Check the mission file (it's just a zip with a different extension), there may be "baked-in" views under Config/View/SnapViews.lua. Just remove the Config/View folder and the missions will be OK. This often happens in community misions, but even some ED's missions are/were broken this way:

When the pair of enemy spawns I'm using an :OnSpawnGroup() function to set an attack task (TaskAttackGroup) on the group that spawned them which you can get from the clientmenu class. This has been working great up until the last update. Since that, the -2 flakes out and dips. Before the update this didn't occur.

Pantsir and Tor M2 shoot down Hellfires
currenthill replied to Ian Boys UK's topic in Currenthill Asset Packs
Yep, according to my sources both the Pantsir-S1 and the Tor M2 would be able to defeat Hellfires. But the Pk would of course not be perfect. And as always, it depends on the situation, like ranges, detection time, salvo launch etc.
