Recluse started following DCS-CRT-Carrier-Recovery-Tool (Carrier setup never been easier)
-
Hi, @Bartek16194 Just started to play with this. I have a mission with High Scattered Clouds and otherwise perfect conditions, with 0800 start but I keep getting the Case 3 recovery due to "Cloud base <1000 ft or <5 NM visibility). Did something change in DCS that makes the weather extraction seem off, or did I forget a setting in the CRT.lua? Default DCS logic always gives Case 1 for these conditions.

Be aware that Oasis driver only works with Nvidia GPUs. Don't know whether support for other GPUs is planed (or possible).

investigating mk82, 83 bombs explosion radius too large after update?
shagrat replied to SalakauHeadman's topic in Weapon Bugs
Correct, but they "can" incapacitate someone within 425m, through fragmentation. The current issue is that blast does damage to all objects inside the blast distance, instead of only a certain percentage. The biggest issue I see currently is, that bombs trigger other bombs in the air through blast damage. This definitely needs adjustment. But the correct approach is to adjust the damage dealt and set distance thresholds for bombs being triggered. Not reverting back to the old damage model where a bomb designed to level a couple buildings barely scratched some vehicles 50m from the impact... As for the concept of Risk Estimate Distances, we need to learn that RED with a PI 10 of 250 meters means you do NOT drop a live Mk-82 bomb closer than 250m to friendly forces and expect no blue on blue casualties, at least in real life. You may drop danger close (inside PI 0.1), if the ground commander takes the responsibility and accepts potential harm to his soldiers or civilians, but that's still a certain risk many NATO countries wouldn't accept... -
I misremembered, that’s all. I edited the post. Neither would I: Swedish is VERY similar to my native language. I don’t need English cockpits in Mirages either. Slavic languages make my head spin: I learned a bit of Polish years ago when I was dating someone there, and my pronunciation was good enough to pass for native, but the amount of phrases I knew was very limited - why do they even feel the need to conjugate people’s names

Impossible to win
Sandman Simulations replied to alboon2000's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Flaming Sunrise Campaign
I did some more testing. It’s true that at the moment the flights assigned to the CAS mission seem a bit too eager to attack enemy attack helicopters. Important work as well, but destroying ground forces should be prioritized. I’ll make some adjustments in this regard, but that doesn’t change the fact that a war cannot be won by destroying ground forces alone. Taking out logistics is essential. That in turn requires sufficient air superiority and suppression of air defenses. By these means, the enemy’s advance can be slowed down or even stopped until reinforcements arrive. -
I appreciate the general sentiment shared in this thread. I'll attempt to phrase it diplomatically and I admit this is entirely subjective: This forum oftentimes feels biased by many DCS zealots true believers with thousands of posts whose opinion plays an outsized role in defending DCS against general criticism. As a software developer by trade, I too feel that DCS is unsustainably buggy. I've recently detailed my personal opinion on DCS' technical state. To exemplify, just take a look at the most recent bug reports on the Lua scripting system. Most if not all of these issues could have been caught by implementing proper (automated) testing. It's bad enough to default to releasing apparently untested software to unpaid testers, i.e., us users. What makes matters worse is that even straightforward, easily reproducible bug reports have started to go entirely unacknowledged, e.g., my two most recent reports on a_do_script() and net.dostring_in(). This is the possible beginning of a vicious cycle. Why should we bother to report issues, if ED doesn't invest the time and effort to fix the bugs or – at the very least – respond to the reports?!

mkel2010 started following Adding Squadrons To the Logbook?

I've added several squadrons and a fighter wing to the USA Troops.Lua file, along with the corresponding unit patches in the correct folder. However, the new units aren't showing in the logbook list. Is this the correct place to add these? I've posted the troop.lua file below. My changes are at lines 19, 40 and 79. USA.lua

PSVR2 - now works with Eye Tracking and Quad Views!

149% with DLSS Preset K. I was shooting for 150% but got bored with the slider, I haven't optimised to 1% I have seen third party adaptors mentioned but I got the official one on release (Amazon.de) Edit: I think you may have an AMD Card? If it's one with a USB-C socket then you may not need an adaptor at all. NVidia dropped that connection after 20 series, but AMD kept it for another gen at least from what I've read. -
So you ran performance numbers obtained below 15,000 feet through a calculator set at 23,000 feet and by this logic everything checks out?

@BIGNEWY I loaded to the hangar/menu screen and then quit from the menu. I waited 5 minutes after quitting and then quit SteamVR using a controller. During that time, the DCS window remained open and my mouse cursor was still confined to the DCS window. I kept the HMD awake by putting my thumb over the sensor. For reference I was using a PSVR2, although I suspect SteamVR is more likely to be at fault here. Log attached. dcs.log

How much SS are you using? Do you need the official PC adaptor or are there any third party ones? -
I flew over Qala-i-Jangi in an Apache a few days ago. Where the UK SBS and US fought to rescue those CIA agents. It's just textures on the ground at the mo, but you can see the outline of the fortress.

Complete loss of DCS installation with damaged computer Disc

Unfortunately, DCS was installed on C drive. This drive is unusable, nothing installed worked. The only solution available was to buy new computer. That´s why my question. -
No, with the new Oasis driver you can continue to use your G2, you don't need WMR anymore.

PSVR2 - now works with Eye Tracking and Quad Views!
Morat replied to proxlamus's topic in Virtual Reality
I'd recommend picking one up, they're not expensive anymore by VR standards (£360 new in the UK, much less in the US for guidance) and I suspect they're getting to End of Life with the PS6 in the works and the poor sales of PSVR2 to PS5 owners. To add to comments about clarity, the PSVR2 is capable of perfectly good clarity if you use supersampling. Is it ultimately as clear as the new breed of mini-oled 4k/eye HMD? No.. but it's about 1/6 of the price. I have absolutely no issue with the cockpits in DCS or the HUDs/screens/pods. Since DFR was enabled, I've upped my settings and I can spot bogeys MUCH further out than I could before. What I'd love to see is a comparison between PSVR2 and a Quest3 on the same spec PC and tuned to the same FPS. You can run much higher settings with the PSVR2 now with DFR. I bet it would be interesting. -
Complete loss of DCS installation with damaged computer Disc
Hiob replied to technic's topic in Payment and Activation
Was DCS installed on the C:\-Drive (Windows System Drive)? If not, make a Backup from your Savegames-Folder and just install a fresh DCS from the Installer on the homepage/downloads on your new drive. With the old Savegames-folder in place, DCS will be the same as always,m once all you paid modules are loaded. -
It's always been a problem for me. I always ticked the external view on mission option before replay track is created. It doesn't work when replay(F2 won't response) and the no force from mission setting is disabled. it worked sometime before but now it won't work
