  1. Past hour
  2. You have missed global earthquake, alien invasion, asteroid hitting the earth and a zombie invasion. I will fly the Harrier as much as possible, you never know. I hope a thermonuclear war doesnt stop me to fly the Fulcrum in September.
  3. Uh...right.
  4. Picture this: - you're flying a left-hand pattern, runway has a 10 knot crosswind component from the left - during your 180° break turn, this wind will start as a crosswind (from the left), becoming a headwind with max intensity 90° into the turn, becoming a crosswind from the right on downwind - your base turn will be the opposite of the break: crosswind from the right, becoming a tailwind, becoming a crosswind from the left, when rolling out on final Here you'll be facing multiple challenges: Correcting the crosswind before the break. Modulationg the break pull (less pull) for correct spacing in downwind. Correcting the (now opposite) crosswind during the downwind part. Correcting for the tailwind during the base turn (steeper angle of bank). If you pull normally through the break (with headwind at the 90° point), you'll end up way too close to the field, making the base turn harder to achieve - especially when the same wind will try to push you accross the centerline, as it's becoming a tailwind through the 90° point during the base turn. If the wind blows opposite (crosswind on the runway coming from the right), you'll have to pull tighter during the break for correct downwind-spacing, but you can ease up your base turn, as you'll now have a headwind, which will less likely blow you through the centerline. Makes sense?
  5. While it offers an interesting perspective, I'm fairly sure that good business planning generally assumes that the market to compete in remains to be alive tomorrow.
  6. Tried to open DCS for the first time in a couple weeks and ran into this: "Failed to get authorization data. Error code is: 504 - No saved authorization found." So it loaded the game without any of my paid content. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx.
  7. You got your forums here at last. Well done! And quite the bombshell to announce the module isn't far away. Congratulations! I can perfectly understand being a bit wary about buying DCS modules right now, really. But it'd be a lie to say I wasn't interested in the C-130. Exciting news indeed.
  8. You mean we are still waiting to hear if zambrano has fulfilled his obligations under the agreement. Remember the problem was caused by him in the first place. However, ED has stated the agreement is confidential and you don't quite grasp the concept of what confidential mean.
  9. i tried today again. this time, though it took a hot minute to open, it did finally open. no changes to my computer other than restarting daily. i leave it off during the days i am at work. @BIGNEWY is onto something about the delay with shaders. i believe clearing those folders improves the performance.
  10. I've got my Steam wallet loaded up for this. Just have to wait now. Probably going to be a Top 3 module for me right away. I spend a lot of time in DCS just flying for fun, and this will take it to the next level. I pop into the civy sim sometimes, spend ten-minutes, be unamused, and then get right back into DCS just to fly around and enjoy the planes. With the C-130 the deal is sealed. One sim fits all.
  11. haha. that is my doc. i am modest. not shy. i never thought to sign it. https://pcwiseman.com/downloads_files/DCS_New_Computer.pdf
  12. I remember reading- they said if the C130J sales are good, they will consider the AC-130(not sure which variant.) I will have to find that exact quote somewhere, so pardon me for not having immediate source. Or maybe a member of the team can clarify for now- lets see how this launch goes, it is looking phenomenal so far, but I do hope to see many pre-release videos to get a good look at it before it comes out. Wishing ASC all the best with this release! Congratulations on your first entry into DCS.
  13. lol. do you have a new log to share? avez-vous un nouveau DCS.LOG à partager ?
  14. could you pls elaborate more on that? I'm not sure I understand about headwind and tailwind components.
  15. I think it is in a different scope or they would 100% already had showcased it. Perhaps in a upgrade down the line.
  16. I understand your concerns, but I can say that ASC has worked very well with us to ensure that safeguards are in place to ensure support no matter of most any unforseeable issues. But I totally understand the desire to tread carefully.
  17. OK, so what things, what aspects, to look for in a monitor, for your case with a $500 budget and an RTX 4070 graphics-card? First the monitor resolution and its size (the two can relate somehow).... You have an RTX 4070 graphics-card. That one is not really recommended for 4K (3840x2160) resolution gaming. While doable, you'll definitely be forced to cut down graphical settings in games (sometimes severely) and/or be completely dependent on DLSS upscaling (which may not be available to other games you may spend time on). Then there's the issue of the 12GB VRAM limit on the RTX 4070, which makes a it a no-no for 4K resolution in DCS. Unfortunately that puts a 4K monitor out of the picture for you, in my opinion. The next best thing then is a 1440P (2560x1440) resolution monitor, and what you should look for - your RTX 4070 will drive that very well, without issues. The thing is, 1440P monitors stop making sense at sizes beyond 32 inches, because the pixel density (and PPI) from there on is too low. Which then means, to me, I think you'll be best served with a good monitor that is 32'' 1440P VRR 144Hz+ with IPS panel. And there are some very good examples out there now that are very reasonably priced, well below your budget (I'll leave this for last). Next, the refresh-rate of the monitor.... You'll notice 144Hz, 165Hz, 180Hz and 240Hz will be the most common these days for gaming monitors. Regardless, noone sees the benefits of maxxing such high refresh-rates with flight sims, as 1) it's unnecessary for the genre of game and becomes increasingly harder to run. And 2) because the framerate (or frames per second, aka FPS) can flutuate immensily, as will the frametime, which can induce a feeling of "stuttering / hitching" in the image. And here, and as with any gaming monitor these days, what you should do is to enable VRR (Gsync or FreeSync) and lock the max framerate in game to something like 120FPS (or 100FPS, or 90FPS, or 80FPS, etc, whatever you end up prefering), then let the monitor panel do the rest. This benefits a more stable framerate and especially frametime, which results in a higher visual stability at most times, motion wise. And then the panel type on a monitor. .... The different types are TN, VA, IPS and OLED (also subdivided into WOLED and QDOLED). TN is more focused on fast image on very high refresh panels, fast response times and motion handling, not so much image quality, so it's not a good choice for flight-sims. (not recommended) VA is more focused on high contrast and vibrant colors, but at cost of motion handling (blur, ghosting) and poor view angles, which you may notice and dislike with flight-sims. (not recommended) IPS is more focused on color accuracy, motion handling, response times and better view angles, at a cost of lower contrast, but generally a great choice for flight-sims. (recommended) OLED are the best for image quality (true blacks, no backlight bleeding, no glowing or blooming) and instantaneous response times, but very expensive and risk of burn-in. (recommended, with that caveat) Finally.... You mention budget is somewhat of a concern ($500 or less). There are plenty 32'' 1440P IPS gaming monitors that are pretty darn good and not too expensive (from $200 to $400 USD), below your $500 budget. There are so many monitors always coming out, at any time, that it's hard to trace what is the very best or not. But, having tried all of these myself, I'd definitely recommend them (all are good and they're not too expensive): Asus TUF Gaming VG32AQL1A --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 165Hz / OC 170Hz - IPS https://www.asus.com/displays-desktops/monitors/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-vg32aql1a/ Asus ROG Swift PG329Q --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 165Hz / OC 175Hz - IPS https://rog.asus.com/monitors/32-to-34-inches/rog-swift-pg329q-model/ LG 32GS75Q-B --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 180Hz - IPS https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32gs75q-b-gaming-monitor LG 32GP850-B --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 165Hz / OC 180Hz - IPS https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32gp850-b-gaming-monitor LG 32GP750-B --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 165Hz - IPS https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32gp750-b-gaming-monitor Gigabyte GS32Q --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 165Hz / OC 170Hz - IPS https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/GS32Q#kf Gigabyte M32Q --- 32'' 1440P (2560x1440) 165Hz / OC 170Hz - IPS https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/M32Q#kf I'd say, you can't really go wrong with any of these.
  18. Are we going to have a multicrew spectre version? with guns? its a deal breaker for me
  19. Hello, I found this bug while multicrewing hind with my friend also happens on solo. Seems to happen on Kord Gunner when looking to the sides, or just randomly when looking in any direction, zooming in makes it dissappear although still it's very random. The bug seems to be new, didn't see it in last updates (f-16 sniper-pod update maybe broke it) who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  20. I'd jump at the chance to buy an AC-130. C-130 (and later the MC-130)...I'd rather wait and see. It's Mig-29 time right now anyway!
  21. While a valid test for sure, it still doesn’t help those of us on ultrawide screens. I run at 3440x1440 and almost every aircraft with hud is affected. F16, F18, harrier, … all have very thick font lines. Repeating what I said above, I can even fix it easily in the files but this breaks IC so it’s not really an option. This is very unfortunate as it is (seemingly) an easy fix. Best I can do now in MP is reduce hud brightness but that’s not very convenient and it definitely doesn’t solve the issue on some MFDs (harrier). Edit: I’m not near my computer but I’ll post a few screenshots when I can
  22. This bird looks nice and promising! But hardly I have to say "no" to any purchase from a3rd party developer after the second loss of developer (first VEAO, now Razbam). A purchase would be a too big uncertainty for the future. Sorry, but ED crashed their loyalty in that for me!
  23. @stalkereye Hier auch nochmal was zum Thema Microstutters. Je nachdem, wie gut Du des Englisch mächtig bist....
  24. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be adversarial but no commercial organisation knows what’s coming around the corner. They don’t exist for you and I, they exist to compete in a market for money, one that may or may not grace them with its favour. Tomorrow the proverbial might hit the fan and it could be 2007 or 1923 again and then our little worries about whether or not there will be a little digital model of an F15 working in a months time will have become a little besides the point. To state the obvious we really do, sometimes, need to remind ourselves that anyone in one of the world’s numerous war zones at the moment may take quite a dim view of the worries thar exercise you and I. So, the answer is count as a plus what you have today and enjoy it whilst you have it because tomorrow you, me and everything else might have been reduced to a load of dust in a fall out cloud - not be too over dramatic am I?
  25. Today
  26. YES! The C-130 is #1 on my list. Keep your Typhoons and Tornados, I want my Hercules.
