Good catch. Judging from from F-16 startup videos on YouTube (like this one and this one), the hatch is actually supposed to be open on a cold start. As soon as the engine is spooled up (and presumably the hydraulics come online) the hatch can be seen closing. Right now in DCS, it doesn't. I am also able to repeat to get the hatch to close by selecting the gun (either dogfight mode or A-G gun strafe mode) and having master arm on.

If the aircraft was imported from the USSR it had labels in russian. If the aircraft was made in one of the allied countries it had cockpit in native language. Here you can see some aircraft from different WP countries, equipment made in the USSR is in russian, local- in local Still weird. If you are german why would you use english in a russian built plane? Or german-built for that matter. Those aren't military jets. And not built in Russia Eheh, sounds like american metric

I just did thanks for pointing me into this information tidbit

I was just in the middle of making a dickish reply to grim_reaper, but you have invoked the better angels of my nature! Ooops. I guess I posted that just a little while before you actually inspired me, but cheers! I guess I could run it through a translator, but I didn't, so I don't know what that guy said in Spanish.

So how does this work with the known issue in the patch notes? "Currently the HELMET COOP mode usage sequence has a bug if RADAR state was OFF, before mode was activated. As a workaround to correctly Lock a target using the radar as the supporting sensor in Сooperative mode (COOP), the radar must be on (ILLUM-DUMMY-OFF switch must be in the DUMMY position) BEFORE activating the IRST modes (IR, CC, HELMET, OPT). For this mode you need to also switch IRST modes using the CW CCW switch movement and not use the keys 3, 4, 5, or 6. Activating IRST modes using the keys does not ensure target lock by the radar as an additional channel in Сooperative mode. We plan to correct that for the next update." SO does that mean the radar mode must be in dummy, not illum for the radar to lock in STT? Currently with the bug in place? Also does this also include radar close combat mode where you still can't IFF, or is it only for the IRST close combat modes where you can't IFF?

I'll be honest I chucked an +1 in there to show that I still care and am looking forward to it, I am happy with what we have and any suggestion its done out of a sense of entitlement is a bit reductionary. I don't think I've seen a more polite group that own and support a DCS module maker! With that said it has been over 3 years now and we have bought the F1 based on a roadmap so its not unfair to ask for an update or insight into the progress of a properly modelled radar and the F1M itself. Aerges are professionals and I'm sure can appreciate the overall sentiment.

I made a bug report where missiles are missing in a similar manner to this bug report and no chaff was even used with mine.

I don't know. I was laying in bed the other night after drinking 2 pints and smoking the days last cigarette-shaped thing but greener, and while hearing the train in the distance, I think I looked up something on the Internet like "Aerges", and I saw their homepage, and the rest is just a blur because I fell asleep at that point. I vaguely remember seeing a box about the size of a VW Beetle. Look it up.

He's talking about this test button I believe, the same test button is implemented on both Mi8 and Ka50,but missing on Mi24,would be great if it's added

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
lodewijk12 replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Awesome, is the ZSU-23-4 the version of the shilka that also has 4 manpads strapped on the back of the turret? -
I can always ask (even though I'd rather have a DCS manual at this point). Do you have some public documentation describing what you are looking for?

its not the accuracy of the dimensions, its getting the full flavor out of the model. You know, little flaws in the panels where one edge might be pried up with a screwdriver, paint chipped around dzus fasteners, dents here and there, rivet squeeze stress marks on skin panels, sealant squeeze out around canopy frames and panels...its every single little detail that can make the cockpit feel alive. Maybe even a paperclip that was painted over right next to the seat tracks, or frayed wire bundles. You know, the little stuff that gets overlooked. This is where that new laser scanning tech really shines and you can see it all over these new models that started with the A-10CII. Id really like to see the F-16 and 18 models scanned and introduced in some point in time if possible.

F-4E / Jester Radar – How to Make Him Track a Contact Without Locking?
Zabuzard replied to Zev's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
He will enter NARROW mode and adjust the antenna of the radar to always point at this bandits altitude. He will also follow the bandit with the screen distance setting to keep him mostly centered. And of course also keep the cursor on them. In other words, the radar beam is pointed straight at the bandit (provided you also point the aircraft at the bandit azimuth-wise). It is the closest you get to a TWS in this aircraft. -
This is realistic. SAPHEI is not really armor piercing (hence semi armor piercing), it can deal with basic armor, but it's more of a HE and incendiary round that simply doesn't go off on the first thing it touches, like pure HEI does. It's basically a combined effects round that works best against soft skinned targets like aircraft or trucks. It can punch through something armored against small arms fire, but real plating, like on a BMP-3, will defeat the round.

Radar and IRST will now pick up each others lost locks. In TP mode you get radar ranging, pressing lock transitions radar to STT as does laser range. You can fire Fox 1 from TP mode. Radar STTs in close combat modes. Not fully implemented for helmet, still won’t lock with radar from 30-60 degrees from nose. What I didn’t expect, if your in radar mode, and switch to TP within IRST lock range, it will switch to IRST leading. Similarly if you enter Radar leading from IRST lock, switching SUV knob further right to close combat will switch to IRST leading and then you can switch it back to normal TP scan if you don’t want it to STT beyond laser range and instead have radar ranging. However can’t seem to transition from IRST leading to radar by moving SUV knob, it drops lock. It seems you can be sure radar is in STT with IRST leading when you get the rhombus/diamond. However it allows you to use HPRF, so that hasn’t been implemented yet. It seems coop has functions with radar still in ILLUM, but you can’t enter radar ranging mode with IRST unless radar is in DUMMY/EKV. Oh and a bad side, even if in IRST mode and you activate radar STT or radar leading, you won’t get IFF and friend/foe switch won’t drop lock on friendly. You need SUV knob in radar mode for that

VR Stuttering in DCS after the 2.9.20.15384 Update
sleighzy replied to Shadowser1409's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Please attach your DCS log for review. Note that the F-10 Map is a well known issue in VR. This can largely be due to VRAM overflow....and you only have an 8Gb 3060Ti (and low specs in general for a larger MP server). Current workarounds (aside from lowering textures to reduce VRAM usage...which may still not help): Alt-tab out of the game, and then alt-tab back in again after a few seconds. This can help clear VRAM. Ensure you center and zoom back in on your plane on the map prior to jumping back into the cockpit again Use OpenKneeboard along with the DCW Web Editor Moving Map (as a web dashboard tab). This will display a dynamic map with a lot of the F-10 map functionality. This can help with not even needing to use the F-10 map, depending on your usage.
