Get an external SSD, such as a WD 2TB SSD. I recently built a new computer for flight simulations, and I performed fresh installations of IL-2 and DCS. Then, I copied all the critical files from my old computer (DCS Saved Games) after updating them onto the external SSD and transferred them to the new installation. Worked like a champ. You may not need a 2TB external drive, but one large enough to transfer the files you need from the old computer to the new one. I'm still using the old gamer as my office computer, and the new rig is now part of a dedicated SimPit. The new rig has 5TB of storage, so hopefully I won't run out of space with IL-2 Korea and Combat Pilot installed. But I'll have that 2TB drive just in case. Cheers

Well, I'm up and running now... I've got almost all the Warbirds mapped, working on the Scooter now... Cheers Hoss

Looking for good control settings starting point for this joystick for the F16 in DCS. Axis, Saturation, dead zone. Any recommendation or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I seem to be getting this weird reflected light texture on the front right of the canopy. Weirdly enough, it really only seems to be on the Cold War Germany map AND only the first time I load a mission. If I exit the mission and select "re-fly" the light texture doesn't appear. And it doesn't seem to appear for every other iteration I load, only the first mission I fly after starting the game. I've attached photos.

Awesome, but that still leaves some questions about the stores config caution light. I don't know if you found public sources for what some have said. It was mentioned that the stores config caution warning is basically and advisory and it's up to the pilot to know what is still loaded and put it in the correct position. For example the stores config caution will be triggered when dropping A-G ordnance from stations 2 and 7 when you have wing tanks loaded, but you still may be loaded in a way that requires a CAT-III config. This is how it is working in DCS now, but I didn't know that I was incorrect by placing the switch in CAT-1 to clear the warning. I'm also still curious as to why the AIM-120 is a CAT-III store. Is it the weight of the missile that can damage the aircraft, or can the missile be damaged? Although, unless you implement damage to the weapons or aircraft from flying in an incorrect stores config, people in PvP servers are just going to throw it in CAT-1 and not worry about it.

So a new development I've seemed to discover. It also seems to have issues with my Screen Shots folder. I had initially deleted the folder, but as soon as I had new photos in the folder not even deleting Metashaders and FXO prevented the game from crashing. Then as soon as I deleted the Screen Shots folder, it loaded again. For some reason it seems to really have an issue with my saved games folder after the update or since I installed CWG.

How much does your DCS experience rely on community contributions?
Dangerzone replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
But if you fly in a squadron - I'm guessing someone other than ED is creating missions and hosting the server, so you are relying on community contributions such as the server hosting, mission designing and maybe scripting too, etc? Sure thing. And I need to make an apology to you. I think my previous response to you was bad. My idea was more about how much people rely on other community contributors for their DCS experience. This includes any community contribution. Reflecting on this - it could include Mods (Such as QVFR) for sure. But it could also include non-commercial content creators (C130 mod, etc) - or 3rd party community missions, or using a community server, or using scripts, etc. It's a pretty broad spectrum. My understanding is that the majority of players are Single Player only - so this poll was a way of referencing just how many people here are happy with "ED only" material, vs how many actually rely on other community members also contributing something to the mix. I wasn't really focusing on QVFR, etc that are essential to people running DCS - but in all honesty reflecting back on this - if they are non commercial community contributions, then I was probably wrong with my previous response, and they probably should be considered, but it's not limited only to those. Or another way to put it. how much would DCS suffer if there was no volunteer / community contribution at all. -

@Minsky, this is absolutely incredible work. Thank you so much for creating these outstanding kneeboards and sharing them with us! -

I know the focus of this mod is Vietnam era, is there any chance with the Knox class, that you guys would be willing to also add a version with the 1980’s updates like the higher bulwark and horizontal spray strake? Pushing the request to the extreme maybe even a Phalanx CIWS? It would be nice for the Desert Storm scenerios, or even for the countries that purchased these boats from the U.S. NAVY.

Hi everyone, I'm trying to script flight plans directly into the mission file and need help with coordinate conversions for the Sinai map. My LUA structure for the flight plan works and loads in the editor, but my own math for converting Lat/Lon to the mission file's internal x/y coordinates is inaccurate.

I recently purchased and installed the Cold War Germany map, and ever since then the game will crash when loading on initial start. It either does a simple crash with crash log or my entire Windows restarts. I have tried everything (including repairs) and had my log analyzed and followed all instructions. I have found the only thing that seems to work is deleting my Metashaders and FXO files before EVERY time I start the game, which seems highly irregular. This never used to be an issue and I have a fairly high end system with no issues. I even tried uninstalling the CWG map and it continues to do this. This did start right around the time of the recent Patch Update. dcs.log-20250606-233517.zip

Constant Stuttering Frequence since yesterdays update
Dangerzone replied to ejbhimself's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Can you please expand on this for the rest of us. Are you saying you had VSync on in DCS, and turned it off? (And have it nowhere now)? Are you also saying that turning off Full Screen fixed all your stutters. And lastly - can you clarify if you're running 2D or VR? Thanks. -

waiting for resolution ED/RAZBAM Situation Info & Discussion
Dangerzone replied to NineLine's topic in RAZBAM
You're more optimistic than me. When ED can't even keep their own modules from having repeated issues (scoreboard, ground unit pathing, track replay desync, etc where they have all the source code and can work on it from all angles - it seems more plausible that sooner or later there's going to be a change they make that's going to change something that breaks the F15E in a similar way too - but without the F15's source code to be able to diagnose from all angles - well, as I said - if they struggle when they do have it, this can only make it far more difficult. (This isn't a go at ED with their bugs - but just to point out that if it's so involved when you have the source code, it's going to be far harder without) Agreed. I see only 2 ways that the F15E survives this. Either Razbam and ED come back to a mutually beneficial arrangement, or somewhere in the contract it's stipulated that ED must get a copy of the source code and the legal proceedings end up forcing Razbam to hand it over. Otherwise, without developers actively maintaining the source code - it would be a very hard ask to expect this to remain operational long term.
