In real life how do Apache pilots roll or Immelman the helicopter
NeedzWD40 replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: AH-64D
While I suspect that the E model's blades might give a bit of help (among some of the other differences), a presence of a full color ADI doesn't exactly make a lot of difference in the ability (or inability) to perform acrobatic maneuvers in a helicopter. It's probably the skateboard he tucked behind the seat. Makes all the difference in the world. -
Hello! Very excited for your next project after Sinai. While I have enjoyed your Sinai map and witnessed it improve greatly over the course of Early Access, it is still my impression that it has room to improve in regards to the detail to the cities. One thing you did really well is foster a sense of scale and density with the procedurally generated buildings, On the other side of that coin, with a few exceptions to certain key areas or sections, many of the larger cities call feel bland due to lacking a real hand crafted attention. For the Balkan’s map, it is my hope that we can reach greater heights with your city design - not just in the core city center but extending outward. More custom assets, more attention to custom placements and small details, and a larger diversity in buildings. Looking forward to what you come up with and excited to see this new map! Cheers!

Combine toggle binds for Visor and NVG
HeathenHedgehog replied to HeathenHedgehog's topic in Wish List
To clarify, I'm not asking to combine the HMD brightness knob and NVG gain controls, those should remain separate as they are in two different places. I am only asking to combine the physical raise/lower toggle commands for the HMD visor and NVG. I understand what you're saying with the switch modifiers, and that would still work if this is implemented, but I'm trying to simplify the control bindings, not add complexity. -
PSVR2 - now works with Eye Tracking and Quad Views!
sleighzy replied to proxlamus's topic in Virtual Reality
This normally means either you didn't start the game in VR mode (tick the Enable VR headsets bo in DCS), or your OpenXR runtime failed to start. Drop your DCS log file here after repeating the problem so somebody can have a look. Will be C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log (may just be text document named "dcs" if your Windows is hiding file extensions). -
I've released v1.6.0: https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/releases/tag/v1.6.0 * New command: STROBE (similar to SPIKED) https://github.com/dharmab/skyeye/blob/main/docs/PLAYER.md#spikedstrobe * Bugfix: In some cases, calls could be anchored to the bullseye of coalition of the the target contact instead of the coalition of the caller. * Other minor fixes and internal developer improvements.

You used too many acronyms, so I don't quite understand all the things you said. However, you do mention the Mirage F1BE. The OP probably should have added the Mirage F1BE to his original poll! I can see how that would be an awesome training plane (what it's supposed to be), but only if you have a human teacher (because there is no back seat automation otherwise.) The back seat of the BE, with it's television repeater sight, and duplicate instruments is a sight to behold and a joy to fly in. And frontline combat capable too! It's a wonderful airplane, and I'm surprised nobody mentioned it before, including me.

RyanR started following Couple quick HAD/HARM questions...

I've been re-reading the manual trying to pick up things I've missed the first few times around. The updated manual is excellent! With HAD as SOI, and an emitter designated, TMS-right should step to different targets. This is not working. What am I missing? Second question is of no importance: The F/A-18 in DCS can find and target Early Warning Radars with HARMs... the F-16 can't with either HAS or HAD. I suspect the F-16 implementation is more accurate. I'm just jealous. Thanks! -Ryan

Im with others Sinai is one of my lest used maps, too many repetitive power stations which actually spoil it for me and lack of updates and communication from the developer too. The wags interview was interesting, taught me how much that ED resources are limited and why they are slow to finish EA's due to this (I didn't realize it was as bad) and yet they wish to pile on more technical dept, with more new stuff like new ATC and other items that will never get finished in what I would could consider a timely manor. Anyhow I have enough maps for now that have no content except for the TTi's missions that run on them (I'm not a mission maker) which get limited playtime and I find my self in the new Germany map if anything as its so good, but hopefully the Balkans map dev might step up to the high bar that Urga set and produce a stunning new map for those that want it.

Native imperial user here, I'm all for a metric option for the F-15C, make it as inclusive as possible. I've been enjoying the MiG-29A and I'm glad they included imperial system for that module as well. Personally, I use the native Cyrillic cockpit with metric system when I fly it. As I took the time to learn the appropriate characters and spoken Russian, Also I already knew how to use the metric system but I didn't mind learning some of the language nessary to operate the jet EKRAN warnings, caution lights etc. Because that's representative of real MiGs, and I prefer maximum realism in as can be achieved in a commercial entertainment product. That said I think having custom language or measurement system options is only good for the sim because it opens the door to more casual players, or players who may not have as much time in their sessions to learn an entirely new system of measurement just to fly a digital airplane around. However I wouldn't expect ED to just accommodate everyone at the expense of development resources. But I would totally welcome a metric cockpit option if its possible and reasonable within the limits of their resources.

I generally agree with your original premise (I can see ED arguing that "purists" want to be able to rotate both knobs even when one isn't doing anything). The work around I use for this which (sorta) gets away from immersion breaking is to set a button as a SWITCH modifier (rather than a press modifier that has to be held when you press the other button). In my case it's middle mouse button. Press it once at start of mission and it turns switch on and my visor up/down and brightness controls both switch to controlling NVG's. If I don't press it they are assigned JHMCS. Only have to do this once per mission (unless you change from NVG's to JHMCS) so not too distracting to do.

The tint looks totally fake on a computer screen or VR lenses to me. We play around with gamma settings and discuss visibility on a screen ad nauseam and then add this nonsense. You like it, that's fine. Just give others and me the option to remove it like so many other options in this game.

I do hope they'll be better about making breaking changes to this one post-release. It made campaign builders wary of Sinai, and it'd be a shame if they were similarly slow to pick up the Balkans. Also, we could use more 90s aircraft and relevant or variants. Now there won't be any excuse for ED not to make Allied Force era hardware. Too bad about the Mudhen in particular, IRL it played a large role in the Balkans. I also hope we'll get CBU-94 someday, IRL it was only dropped from Nighthawks, but AFAIK it used a standard dispenser, so anything compatible with CBU-97 should be able to carry it. Could be very useful for attacking power plants in DC.

Current Hill New Assets We’re excited to share that the Currenthill pack will be receiving new assets that will expand mission-building possibilities. The Grisha-class Corvette is optimized for anti-submarine warfare and coastal defense operations. It will have radar and missiles, a Close In Weapons System (CIWS) point defence gun, and a deck gun. Meanwhile, the AI only EC-665 Tiger UHT, the German variant of the Eurocopter Tiger, can conduct reconnaissance, close air support and anti-armor operations with tactical finesse. We look forward to delivering these assets to you in a future update. Bye Phant

The Humvee blocking the wingman will into the player's unit when the player is still at holding position waiting for the clearance from the ATC before entering the runway. Screenshot: Player bumped into by humvee thus entering the runway with unexpected pattern

From what I have read, probably it will be something like that ( and similar to Falcon 4.0 Balkans Theatre ).

Would be nice if the low detail area could be extended just far enough south that carrier could navigate around the southern ends of land masses. Would make things more interesting for servers that run for long periods without reset. Doesn't need to be detailed, just like Afghanistan to allow more naval ops operations. And in this case most of what would be added would be sea so in theory wouldn't be a big performance hit.
