When you guys order the WinWing MCDU or PFP panels, I highly recommend getting the desk mount that they sell as well. It's positions it at a good angle for viewing, is easy to relocate, and provides a stable platform to press buttons. Adds $30 US to the price, but well worth it if you don't have a plan for mounting.

The work continues in earnest on the AWG-15. I had to redesign the WPN SEL wheel again, as taking a second look at the example Tomcat at the museum showed me that I had the display lens far too high up. I also have to recess the DLVY OPTNS rotary knobs further into the panel as those weren’t supposed to be flush. Regardless… here’s another photo!

Hey look it's the same usual crowd.

I’ve forwarded this to the dev team and am waiting for their input. Will be away from the office tomorrow but will be back over the weekend.

AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024
Zabuzard replied to HB_Painter's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I am by no means expert on the weapon at all. So I cannot answer these questions (maybe someone else can). But these are points you have to consider if you are having a bad time hitting anything with them in-game and want to improve your experience. Once you kinda understand that they arent just "fire and forget" and put more thought into employing them, it will also work better -
Are there any game-related differences between the F4U-1D and F4U-1D_CW?
Hiob replied to tigershark1-1's topic in F4U-1D
I think it was to improve roll-rate. I can't think of any other flight dynamics benefit. The induced drag is smaller with rounded wingtips if I'm not mistaken (that's why the spit has them in the first place I guess). But I might be completely mistaken - that's out of my league to be honest. -
AGM-45 Shrike Quick Guide by Klarsnow - updated June 5th 2024
Northstar98 replied to HB_Painter's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
How does this work with radars that nominally rotate? By their very nature the Shrike will only be illuminated by the mainlobe a minority of the time and be illuminated by a sidelobe the majority of the time. The P-15/P-19 is what the Mark 37 specifically targets and that radar only rotates in DCS. Several of the guidance sections target the Bar Lock, which also nominally rotates (though we don't have that radar as a functional unit). But I can also get the Shrike to consistently track the 1S11 fire-control radar for the SA-6, the SOC radar of the 1S51 for the SA-8, the Tin Shield, the Big Bird (which is a phased array and will present small sidelobes). Of course the Shrike may still miss, but that's also the case regardless - the Shrike is still clearly observed tracking and making corrections all the way to impact, it just missed (usually as a result of it wasting energy due to bang-bang guidance, the inaccuracy of the bang-bang guidance itself and the lack of G-bias with everything but the Mk 49 Mod 1). IRL, the Shrike was used (albeit less than successfully) against an AN/TPS-43F in the Falklands, which also rotates. -

Those clipped-wing Spits (and the A6M3 Model 32) were clipped CONSIDERABLY more than the Corsair's. -

Is there a quick INS realignment useful during re-arming?
Zabuzard replied to bop1701's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
An actual realign isnt possible that easily and would require a lengthy procedure. It is possible to do a nav-fix though, similar to how you would do it in-flight when overflying a nav-fix waypoint. Jester support for that on the ground is in the works. That will only get rid of your current accumulated drift though, not realign anything. So you would accumulate new drift quickly again. The Jester Wheel already features an option to "upgrade" your alignment in case you for example didnt do a full alignment beforehand. Further options are in development. - Today

Are there any game-related differences between the F4U-1D and F4U-1D_CW?
Holbeach replied to tigershark1-1's topic in F4U-1D
It was too low for Corsairs because the armoured deck, which was 4 inches thick, produced a lot of top weight, so it had to be as low as possible to maintain stability. This created a hangar much reduced in height from a US carrier. Luckily the wing tips could be removed. History might have been very different otherwise. .. -

This comes up from time to time in the wishlist: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/207-dcs-core-wish-list/

During a quick turn/re-arming between sorties, is there a fast method to realign the INS while you're sitting there? Is there a way to tell Jester to do it, or do you have to shut down and restart to get an alignment? The drift can be significant after even one long flight. I don't know the WSO cockpit procedures. Thanks

It's a game (with different shortcomings) either way. That's a pointless discussion. SP has its values, MP does too. (E.g. droping warheads on foreheads is not the only part of military aviation, I would dare to say it is the smallest. So if your interest is aviation - flying a particular aircraft in the first place - SP pretty much does the trick. (Personally I would love to see a proper ATC for that reason, but that's beside the point) I don't want to, but just food for thought: There several different ways to do muliplayer. Public servers (PvP OR PvE), private servers or even closed groups from 2 people upwards. How it goes depends pretty much on the people and what you're trying to achieve

The development of the radar has been going on for a very long time. I am tired of waiting and have lost hope of seeing it

Our F-16 3D model and textures are really showing their age compared to the latest modules. Some still feel we have a rushed and unfinished product on the artwork and 3D side of things. I hope that the reluctance to include community liverys is a sign that work is being done in house to improve things.

MIG-29 confirmed release date September?
Dača replied to The Gryphon's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
That would be the best case scenario which I hope is true. -
