I think the definitive issue here is the combination of the two characteristics (ie. flying a long way in order to die). I could never get into OFP ('cept for the OWP Mi-2 and BAS OH-58 ) because all of the missions required you to kill 20+ enemy soldiers and half a tank platoon. The same goes for the default single missions in Lomac, they take a good deal of skill and multiple tries before you develop "a walkthrough" for carrying out them mission without dying. I can see the appeal of hard missions to their designers, in that virtually unwinnable missions have to be replayed more in order to complete them, but in reality an easily winnable mission is also just as enjoyable and offer the player a greater variety of approaches and more chances to admire the mission's design. I'd much prefer a campaign where are skilled player could reach mission fifteen without dying or being overly heroic. Imagine typical missions where you totally outnumber and outclass your opponent and your goal is instead to win the battle with no allied casualties... I'm not saying there can't be "white knuckled", desperate and heroic missions. I'm just saying that they should be the exception instead of the rule in any campaign. Does anyone agree with this idea? Yes, this is view from a Greek F-16 HUD, and the sound is from the same. It was a 2v2 victory for the F-16's whose HUD we're seeing. Whether the other side is Turkish F-16's is arguable; it could have just been an exercise.1 point

:) f15vssu2_ZIG.rar1 point

Or to put it another way, maddog at nubs with spamraams and run back home for more, very tedious work:D1 point

:)1 point

Optimum engaging range for mig online is 25km. Any further the radar will drop the lock easely. Either migs wont take full advantage of the R-27ER anyway. I dont expect DCS mig to be very different from this perfomance. As for the ET, it will be only usefull at much shorter ranges than the one in LOMAC. The seeker will be the limiting factor. Clouds and throttle setting will hamper its use BVR.1 point

The "rotor" being referred to is the gas generator rotors of the engines, to make them less prone to failure as the engines age. The fuel tank modification is an add-on that could be inserted in the place of the removable 30mm ammo pack. It holds 130 gallons of fuel (about an hour of flight time) and reduces the 30mm ammunition load from 1200 down to 240 rounds. The 2nd Gen FLIR they are talking about is the Arrowhead system, which I do not think has been added to the A-models, only the D-models (I'm not positive on this, though). From my understanding, Data Link capabilities were never installed in A-models for anything other than testing and were never part of a planned upgrade for the entire fleet, so your statement should be correct.1 point

Older Apaches used a standalone GPS unit that didn't talk to the rest of the aircraft at all. In fact, we used them in our trucks as well as our Apaches. The only permanent part was the externally mounted antenna. When you put it in the aircraft, it was placed under the radios along the right side of the CPG's seat, and you just plugged in the power and antenna and off you went. I've attached a picture of the one that we used during Desert Storm.1 point

;)1 point

Aaaahhhh Yes - I Stand Corrected ;) It's a tentative 'Yes'. "We plan however to provide such features in our new simulation engine that is currently in development for later versions of DCS." :)1 point

O Noes! The plasma stealth PESA equipped Su-35's are going to shoot down all of our non maneuvering F-15's because they aren't F-22's!! And then they are going to make a bunch of uber fighters that are light years more advanced than anything the US has! Sounds more like a USAF made vid asking for more Raptors than something an Aussie think tank came up with.1 point

:cry:Guys, guys. I beg you, can we take it easy on negative feed back please. I just think this is one of the best developers updates I have ever seen from a game developer, ever. ED has not made any promises, like some companies do. They just told us, we are thinking about this. I don't want ED member to stop updates because we give them to much negative feed back. I very sorry if this makes anyone mad, not my intension. IMO, we got told great news that maybe, maybe we might get very detail F-15!, SU-27, A-10s. We should be grateful to ED team for saying:" Hey we are thinking maybe we will create this models, maybe" and we should not say:" Aww man, they don't have this aircraft or that one". We should say: "Awesome, hope you guys have the chance to developed those models." Just my two cents guys and again very sorry if this make anyone mad.1 point

Sounds awsome! Us customers, we will have to globally coordinate our buying behaviour to control sales numbers: They must be allowed to make a good profit, to invest in personnel and hardware and to continue this series forever. However, we cannot allow them to make a fortune, because once they can all afford their personal MiG and Fiji island, they might just stop making sims...:smartass:1 point

They are showing S-300 (late 1970s) as an answer to Desert Storm.... lol I couldn't watch it beyond that. Sry :)1 point

Kuky, this mod will be allowed to be used by the public. There were certain things we had to agree with upon with Meshfactory but we were given permission to use the models and release to the public. Highway, so far discussion's are that it will go over the 33, so the plane will be carrier capable. But it is still early as Racer has not touched it yet as he is still finishing the Super Hornet, so we will see. Dimyan, these will be all freeware addons to lockon and will be intergrated into the game the best we can. We are doing all of this on our freetime and only wish to make the Naval aspect of Lockon better.1 point

Does that include making a mod and including it in the game then leaving the mod for download for others or strictly for your own use in game only?1 point

1 point

You must have dual controls set, one of which is within the game controls and another is in your X52 profile and that coses the conflict which results in your inability to set target size. So, my advice is to find duplication of controls and delete one of them, advice to have these controls on your X52, therefore you need to delete the relevant controls within the game control panel. So at the end there is only ONE place from where you can control it and it's on your X52. If You fail to find it, let me know, I'll make some more screen shots! P.S. those are my settings and works fine for me. Good luck :pilotfly:1 point

The analog axis "Target Specified Size" also controls the aperture size. Make sure the axis is cleared.1 point
