  1. No, "Dozer" (Shower) was at 37,000ft when he picked up a contact 35NM out, taking off from Batijinica. Interestingly enough, although Dozer was part of a 4-ship, he set up a counterrotating CAP so that an element was always pointing towards the threat axis. this meant that when he left the CAP to prosecute, he was in an element (2-ship). Also, his prime (the main radio) was jamming itself, so his radio calls were garbled. Anyway, the contact was going less than 200Kts and was at 1,500ft. Doser locks the bandit up at DR at which time the bandit's going 400kts and is at about 10,000ft. The bandit's coming towards Dozer's element, he EIDs hostile and makes a radio call "Hostile, hostile, Fox3," which nobody heard. This was at 14NM. Dozer watches the missile and it guides and when the slammer went active, he fires a sparrow. Shortly after this as Dozer is descending out of altitude, the MiG goes to the beam, for whatever reason, like the slammer exploding near him or the tracking lock. So, the bandit's maneuvering and the sparrow misses. Now Dozer's looking down at the bandit and he's inside 6NM when he fires a slammer. They've got about 10,000ft of altitude separation, the slammer comes off the rail and goes straight down after the bandit. The bandit comes out of the beam and breaks into Dozer. They're looking at each other beak-to-beak, when the slammer hits the MiG. Dozer watches the fireball doesnt see the pilot eject, but heard later that the MiG pilot survived, for which he's said he's glad. I must emphasize this: Dozer's sentiment about shooting down the aircraft & not the Man/Woman flying the jet is shared by the vast majority of us in the fighter pilot community. We want to shoot the mount, not the rider. We know, just like other REAL Fighter Pilots, that there's wives/husbands and kids involved when we do battle. Our aim is not to kill, but to best the driver and kill the mount. It may sound naiive but that's what many of us feel. Another thing: All you people who are idiotic enough to think that we're not experiencing some amount of fear when we enter battle, even with a foe who's not equipped with the best equipment, are kidding yourselves. How about you enter a large dark room with a Glock and flashlight & go up against someone with a single-shot .22. Tell me you won't experience some level of excitement and trepidation. So, to recap: 2v1 engagement, but more like a 1v1 with radio issues going on. Slammer Pk = 50% from this engagement - 2 fired, 1 miss, 1 hit. Sparrow Pk = 0% - 1 fired, 1 miss I've been watching this debate for a while, and it just confirms things. Sad really.

  2. No, it said that he fired 4 missiles for 1 kill. Rhen didn't go into Showers' second engagement - but in terms of the first engagement, the number of missiles match up, just not the missile type. False. <deleted by mod>

  8. No HUD modes nor aiming pipper...only AI pilot able to drop bombs...but able to fire ground,naval targets by missiles also...of course SAMs too by HARMs :thumbup:

  9. D-Scythe I've read your post about Mike Showers story. Very interesting, thx. It does not match my figures though I found them in official RuAF magazine. As for ratio data I don't believe US claims at 100%. Why? I'm based on the Korean War when USAF overclaime became unbelievable! RU official data of 64 Air Corp: 651+181 F86 downed by Ru + Chinese American Data - only 103 !!! Do you really think that situation changed? I hope so, but...

  16. Согласен на 100%. Ведь запрещена же F10. Почему нельзя запретить принтскрин? ======= Кстати, если уж речь пошла о запретах, то предлагаю еще следующее: - запретить F-11. Через нее спокойно можно увидеть, кто, что и где находится (спутник-шпиён :)) - сообщения коммандера о сбитых. С задержкой пусть идут, что ли (позвонил начштаба 595-го сп и подтвердил падение ... :)). В реале ведь неизвестно, упал или нет, попал или промахнулся - сближайся и глазками, глазками :). Фактор неизвестности сделает игру интересней и увеличит количество БВБ. Хотя... есть и отрицательные стороны. Для наземных целей пусть передает. - сообщения о приземлениях - опять шпионы с рациями на каждом аэродроме (куда Таманцев смотрит? :)). Пусть идут только для своей стороны.

  19. This is a bit late reply since I haven't been paying attention to this post, but I'd like to burst your bubble of reality a bit too... If you look at how wide the area of Serbia is around Belgrade, it's bit over 120km, widest area is maybe 200km. This is few minutes flight only in supersonic jet. What do you think how dense say only 10x aircraft would be in this area? How quickly could pairs of US fighter engage some single mig taking off and how far another pair would be? My point is, Former Yugoslavia was a small country in geographical area, Serbia is even smaller. Having on station only 2-3 pairs of fighters at any given time is still more then what Serbian airforce could cramble at once... talking about numerical advantage...also I never said there are or were 100 US aircraft in air at once, you just blew some number out of your head, what I was pointing out your completelywrong statement how 100 vs 20 is not numerical advantage. Sure no one would send 100 fighters at once in air against country that can sent total of 20 aircraft... same principle applies to defender... do you think they would be that stupid to send all they have all at once... I think not. What I do think and this is the reality, US did have good number advantage at any given time over Serbian air force.

  23. I'll check those out. I believe that if the original image size (256x256) is streatched to the size that it would fill at 1680x1050, then the images should display correctly. That however would require a completely new set of images to be made for that resolution... personally, I use the UI at the 1024x768 in windowed mode, and then switch to 1920x1200 in Full screen for the simulation to stop the UI looking ugly, but I may consider doing images that match 1680 x 1050 if somebody makes a UI to fit that resolution too. Edit : I've checked this out, and by tweaking the image size to 420 x 350, they fit perfectly into a 1680x1050 UI screen with no distortion: I may look into this as another pack, but can't give any timescales, and I would ONLY make 1680x1050 as the alternate resolution. I've just tested it, and I can say that it's fully compatible with the Crimean Air Wars packs.

  24. hey SKF thanks for posting. the airshow was ok, but i think next year i will travel to england to watch the international royal air tattoo. the german government was not so pleasent to the people who went to the ILA at the 1st of june, but well i nearly got all the pictures i wanted to get. and the best is, i have had some walk arounds, also the eagle ;-) i saw somw details on the jet you will not obviously see on fotos, but now i see the details that were not obvious no worry, walmies model is nice but i do not like it

  29. Hello, Well, yes. The two seater have a HUD front and backside. Allthough the backseater can`t see forward he allways have the same dates as the pilot. It`s a good way for trainers and in combat. Both can split the work. Alltimes the backseater have a Infrarot picture and so he can see the same as the pilot. We planed to replace the Su-33. There are enough stations for the weapons, have a strong radar and can fire Air to Ground weapons like the TAURUS. In a little private version for COLA I replaced the F-15. The cockpit is nearer as the russian Flanker cockpit but without enough stations. So Thank you, for your wishes- we do our best :pilotfly: TOM

  30. F-15C + AIM-7, possibly Su-27/MiG-29 + R-27 ... anything that no longer requires a change in PRF or PD to CW waveform to guide. If the radar function doesn't change, how's the RWR going to tell the difference between track and missile guidance, since they are the same? ;) I agree with you that in a lot (but not all) cases, HoJ launch should simply be consistent normal launch (ie. either both give warning, or both do not). However in LO, for example, there was an attempt to model F-15 HoJ as a 'silent' passive HoJ mode where the radar just listens for the jamming signal instead of actively trying to provoke the jammer. The whole ECM/ECCM thing in LO isn't terribly realistic after all :)

  31. Hello, Sorry for the radio silence- We haven`t much time and spent it all to the Typhoon-Project. So yes- Since 6 month we created the hole project complete new. My old model looks a little bit ugly and the new ones are really great. Cola builded a complete new package with Eurofighter Typhoon, METEOR, IRIS-T, STORM SHADOW, ASRAM, FuelTanks and so on. My little job is to animate the models and create the wraping. Hunin makes the textures. We was able to use both versions into one model so the user allways have the option if he wants to fly a single- or two seater. The work is very powerfull and I hope, that we can release more Fighters in the future. Our biggest problem is time but well- we all have this every day:) About the cockpit: Thistime it isn`t possible to create new cockpits. We was able to insert a new one, with all the analog Instruments but without HUD and MFD. I asked many people in the past about that problem but without any results. However- I hope we can use the MFD`s who are allready in the game if somebody can tell me the way to insert it into in new cockpit. From the readme: Note: like the read-me says, this mod replaces the STRUCTTABLE.SHT file in lockon\bazar folder. Allthough it is compatible with the Structtable.sht file used in Mbot's "Static Object Pack v1", it is NOT coompatible with "Structure Visibility mod v1" by TekaTeka. TekaTeka's Structtable.sht files give "error shapes" errors when I start LockOn so I did not use his Structtable.sht file.   44. Think of ET like World War torpedo :) Aim with your entire plane (make a good lead of the target), override and launch. If the enemy assumes (and most players do) that you are doing this, pretty much a single flare and change of flightpath will trash your ET, so keep these ETs for better shots since you can carry only two.
