Problem : Without FFB rudders (Are there any?!) you have to readjust you physically position of you rudders every time you trim. Because trimming adds input to your current rudder position. This is not every time very helpfully and can lead to uncontrollable turning and finally in a crash.... if you are not watching your feet carefully each time you trim. One well known example: You are flying with 250Km/h straight forward and have to add constant rudder to eliminate the natural behaviour of the Ka-50 to turn a little on high velocity. - You want to trim you cyclic a little froward to relax your hand - you hit the trim button ... and your rotors clash - just because you forgot to readjust your feet : the trim plus your current position of your feet was too much rudder input for your rotor blades...:( I was searching long for a solution to unchain the rudders and the Trim of the cyclic. I finally found a solution more or less by accident: I haven't connected my Saitek Rudder pedals correctly before flight and I tried to control the rudders with the keyboard while controlling the rest with my Cougar. While doing this I realised that after hitting only short "x" or "y" (Default keys for rudder control) it instantly overrides the trimmed position of the Rudders and it will be in a neutral position again wile the cyclic remains in trimmed position. Than I added a macro inside of DCS World that does exactly the same after you have released the trimmer. The Readme.txt: File: Unchain Rudder from Trim Ka-50 - DCS World.rar Size: 110.38 Kb [download] Non-FFB users have to use this settings for the Trimmer to make this mod work: ACHTUNG! Please ignore following posts that explain how to script it for your controller!- This is not needed any more when using attached files. These Posts where made before I learned how to write macros inside of DCS.1 point

I bought a copy of DCS Black shark and installed it just fine but when I loaded the game and tried my serial key it didn't work. I sent an email to DCS about it and was basically told that the key belonged to another game and I was trying to basically STEAL a cd-key. Now I bought the box edition, HOW in GOD's GREEN EARTH IS A SERIAL KEY FROM A BOX NO GOOD??? I can provide reciepts and even the upc from the box but nothing, no sure we will look into to it NOTHING!! So I am taking it upon myself to warn others. Becareful with this product because they will not back you up when you need it and you have just lost a FAITHFUL customer due to your SHITTY customer service.:mad::mad:1 point

. LRM 2.0 release no later than April 2009 I was about to release LRM 1.0 as a non-beta version, but as it turns out there were a few more features I wanted to add. Then I figured these new changes made it more like a new mod package than anything else. Even though the mod is pretty much feature complete, there are still fine tuning to be done of each part. As usual the mod is loaded and enforced from server side. Clients do not need to install anything locally. LRM 2.0 will have only one release variant. There will be no separate variants (with varying amount of features included) for some squads. Instead the ability to turn off function by function is added in the configuration file. LRM 2.0 includes: Server Controllable engine spool-up time (as of LRM 2.0) Takeoffs only possible from runways (not taxiways/roads/etc, as of LRM 2.0) Refueling only in parking areas (as of LRM 2.0) (you can get to 700 lbs on rw, in case of flameout) Turbulence mod (Turbulence when low and fast, as of LRM 2.0) Dynamic coalition controlled/owned airfields (as of LRM 2.0, no spool/takeoff at wrong airfield) The ability to enforce special weapons/payloads (No engine spool if loaded those not set as legal, as of LRM 2.0) Reduced chaff numbers (made stricter with LRM 2.0, originally from 1.0) Limited amount of aircraft available, with timed reinforcements (I forgot this is actually an AMRACT feature, not LRM, but will be on rve server) Counters to the barrell exploit (as of LRM 1.0) F-15 IFF (as of LRM 1.0) F-15 Radar elevation follows target(s) TWS & STT, (as of LRM 1.0) Counters to the RadarFloor exploit (as of LRM 1.0) Optional Support for cursor target step mod (Must be activated client side and set *allowed* by server) Demo Video : --> HERE <-- , showing some of the new 2.0 features. This video will serve as documentation for the 2.0 updates from 1.0 until a new documentation is written. Additional credits go to: 44th_GrayGhost for help and ideas making it Boberros for help with the OnlyRunwaysForTakeOff mod 3sqn for ideas on how to solve the indication of airbase ownership Kuky, for excellent job on grabbing parking area coordinates! Andrew/aaa/ for helping me with Russian version localization Anyone I forgot to mention helping me! (give me a pm ;)) .1 point

Catalyst 9.5 BETA version 8.61.1-090330a available for download here: http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33944361 going to try out the XP version this evening :)1 point

Well these are near finished. There's a slight issue with the landing lines overlay which I've now fixed. There are some issues all really relating to the taxi roads: As you may notice I've moved the outer lines right up to the outer edge of the road. 1. ED don't always use all of the texture and the line gets cut off early in a lot of cases. I can't fix this but I could move the lines back in again.. Personally I think it looks better even cut off. 2. The parking area overlays the taxi road (on this runway at least) this means that the white line is under the parking area texture. I'm debating about the parking area and thinking of just darkening the lining rather than make it looks as "bad" as the taxi road and runway. That way there is variation in when the workers painted different areas.1 point

th3flyboy, I see that your overall opinion of Black Shark is overwhelmingly positive and I appreciate that. Unfortunately, I do have some criticism of your review, because a number of times it struck me as poorly informed and misleading. Most importantly, you twice question ED's cooperation with Kamov and Subject Matter Experts (pilots and others). You indicate you have done some kind of research into this matter, but you provide no further details. You are effectively accusing ED of either lying or misleading the public regarding its own product research, but you provide no evidence for your claims. I found these comments unnecessary and unprofessional. You also question that the "flight model has changed at least once in beta." Honestly, I'm not even sure what you mean. Because of the nature of the project and the internal factors in the company, Black Shark was in "beta" for over 2 years. Not only the FM, but the entire helicopter model was in continuous development in that time. It appears that some of your product information is sourced to various forum postings and it's not clear that they came from ED. For example, unless I missed something, ED has never confirmed that future engine upgrades will be free. That's a possibility, but it's not yet determined. When did ED promise a multiplayer campaign system in Black Shark? You also mention that ED did not model some "classified systems." About the only classified system ED did not model is the IFF system, but you did not mention that. Instead, you focused on the "black areas" seen on a single airframe as part of experimental systems testing. The overhead panel you describe was simply a VCR remote bolted on that particular airframe to record cockpit footage during the test trials. There are also a number of technical errors. I will list some in the order I found them: The Ka-50 did enter serial production in 1994. In fact, the last serially produced airframes were rolled off the production line in 2008. The production run was very limited by any standard, but nevertheless it was in production. As mentioned by Arneh, your understanding and description of VRS is wrong. I'm not sure what you mean by the Ka-50 being designed to take out targets from "up high." Like most other helicopters, the Ka-50 is designed for low-altitude operations, with a "running pop up" maneuver used for target search and engagement. The Ka-50 was designed to defeat the M-60 tank? Is there a source for that? In multiplayer, the sever only dictates graphical settings if they are "forced on" in the mission. It's up to the server whether to do this or not. In general, I think it would have been best to simply review the facts and impressions of gameplay, without moving into unnecessary information about the "why's and when's" of product development. If you did want to include some of that in-depth information, it would have been best to send some questions to ED for official answers. Otherwise, you ended up posting what amounts to guesswork in an official review by a major flight sim website. IMHO, this is a good example where less could be more. More information of gameplay, less opinion on everything else. Nevertheless, I thank you for taking the time to examine the product and definitely for recommending it to others!1 point

This statement is just wrong: "DCS models ring vortex effect, which is essentially when you fly low and slow over the ground. If you are too close to the ground your helicopter can’t gain enough lift and drops out of the sky." A Vortex Ring State (which I guess is what you were trying to describe) has nothing to do with being close to the ground (in fact being close to the ground gives you more lift because of ground effect). Vortex Ring State is when you decend too fast at slow speed and the rotor gets into its own downwash. And about the cockpit instruments you seem to be missing, then that's a different helicopter than the one ED has modelled (or possibly same helicopter after an upgrade). Since there are so few Ka-50s there really aren't any standard, and some have different instruments from others. The one ED modelled simply didn't have those instruments, it's not something they forgot, or left out because it was classified.1 point

Aye, forgetting those on is a bit like flying a high-tech stealth aircraft on deep penetration while having the radar transmitting at full power. :P1 point

I guess it is possible to make high-end civilian aircraft like PMDG planes in DCS Engine, but one of the best features of civilian flight sims (FS9/X, XPlane, FlightGear) is global scenery.1 point

I don't think it's his rudder. At speed above 150 or so Ka-50 has a tendency to roll to the right (bigger force of upper rotor?), to counter it you need to add some left cyclic. After doing that you'll notice that the ball is off center to the right. So to flight straight you need to both apply left cyclic and right rudder. PS: Hello everyone:) Been lurking around those forums since lock on FC:O PS II: Sorry for my english Best regards Corvus ...Too slow!1 point

"non FFB Rudder patch" Hello - I was also searching long for a solution to unchain the rudders and the Trim of the cyclic. I finally found it more or less by accident: I haven't connected my Saitek Rudder pedals correctly before flight and I tried to control the rudders with the keyboard while controlling the rest with my Cougar. While doing this I realised that after hitting only short "x" or "y" (Default keys for rudder control) it instantly overrides the trimmed position of the Rudders and it will be in a neutral position again wile the cyclic remains in trimmed position. So I programmed a little script for my Cougar: USE ALL_DIRECTX_BUTTONS USE MICROSTICK AS MOUSE (11, 3, 1) REM This resets the Trim of the rudders immediately to a neutral REM position after trimming the Ka-50, so you REM have full control over the rudders and your rudder input will stay the REM same while the Stick is trimmed to a new position. BTN H4U /H t BTN H4M {y x}BTN H4 is the four way switch at the left side of the handel that you controll with your thumb. And the script works as follows: While I hold the button forward it sends "t" for Trim. When I release the button to the Middle position (BTN H4M) it sets a new trim to the cyclic (because "t" isn't pressed any more) and also sends to very short keystrokes of "x" and "y" simultaneously and resets the rudder to its neutral position again instead of adding the Trim to your current position. That leads to the nice effect that You will not have a misalignment of your real and virtual position. I mean when I look into the cockpit than I don't see full rudder left while I'm holding my legs neutral after trimming. It will always reflect my real position and I don't have to "Look down" any more to know where my rudders are. So I don't have to readjust my feet every time when trimming (...and I trim very often...) . I can now fly very stable in crosswind and while flying hard turns. I think this script should also be very easy to adapt to a X52 or other programmable device. And it's absolutely irrelevant witch rudder input you use. This is how the script should work for your Trim button (button X): when "button X" is pressed = permanent keystroke "t" until release the button -for Trim if "button X" is released = sending short keystroke of "x"+"y" -for recentre the rudders to the actual real position And you can easily try it yourself before programming: press once short "x" or "y" after you trimmed your rudders - and watch what will happen - :) I hope you enjoy this "non FFB Rudder patch" until the patch comes out (or someone offers working FFB rudders) - and have also the same "boost" of your flying skills like I had.1 point

Yeah, no FADEC on the Ka-50. In fact, no digital fuel control at all. Even the newest engine of the family, the VK-2500, does not have a FADEC, but it at least has an electronic fuel control. The TV3-117 fuel control is purely hydromechanical, and receives N1 and N2 speed information through gears and flex shafts. The engine governor monitors three parameters: N1 (gas generator turbine) speed, N2 (free turbine) speed, and EGT (exhaust gas temperature). In the event of an N1 or N2 overspeed (around 107% for N1 and around 118% for N2), the governor will send a signal to an emergency fuel shutoff actuator and shut off fuel to the engine. These overspeeds will only happen if something very, very wrong happens in the engine. As a pilot, there is nothing you can do to cause those overspeeds (at least not to the extent required to cause engine shutdown). The last parameter monitored, EGT, is handled a little differently (and is the only one your likely to notice during flight). In this case, the governor works in conjunction with a temperature controller to reduce the amount of fuel going into the combustion chamber when the engine reaches a certain preset temperature. This is done in order to prevent an overtemp of the engine. In other words, as you pull in more and more power, at some point, the governor and the temperature controller are going to adjust the fuel flow to not give you all the power you're asking for. This is accompanied by the ENG PWR LIMIT lights. When those lights come on, the aircraft is telling you that you're essentially out of power. EDIT: This information is also in the flight manual on page 2-85.1 point
