Hear, hear! AWACS calls, as you all have said, can get way out of hand. In busy missions, its a constant stream of verbal diarrhea. Even if you're not relying on it, it's just nuts. My absolute FAVORITE is when you get a "Merged" call about 10 seconds after you've already shot down the bandit because she was busy droning on about the An-124 that took off 300 km away. I'm busy jinking around, looking all over like a mad man, flares spewing all over the place until she finishes here stupid shpiel about the An-124 before I can finally ask again and get a call that its all clear. :furious: :chair:2 points

Противоречит только своей недосказанностью. Прочитайте РЛЭ, эти вопросы отпадут. При этом станция работает в режиме "разведки", не излучает. Тут она начинает излучать, аналог нажатия кнопки "Е". Что касается тыцканья переключателя туда-сюда, есть только один частный случай, описанный в документе: Сорбция может светить в переднюю полусферу или заднюю. Это определяет летчик, щелкая соответствующий переключатель. Если в ЗПС - выполняется вышеуказанная процедура. Если в ППС - возможно, станцию нужно переводить в прием на всё время от поиска цели до поражения, хотя этот случай в РЛЭ явно не описан. Что касается пункта "4", это просто бессмысленный вопрос. САП мигает САМА, об этом здесь уже писал Святой. Она такие этюды исполняет в РЛ диапазоне (см. РТЭ), что летчику для ручного повторения этого нужен целый ройяль... точней, гитара ) И музыкальный слух, чтобы слушать противника и искажать его мелодию. Точней, несколько гитар, чтобы играть наперерез целому оркестру за раз. "Когда ты бежишь, нужно ли тебе постоянно мысленно приказывать переставлять очередную ногу вперед"? Вот похожий вопрос... Да. Оно настолько упрощенно в игре, что об этом и спорить почти невозможно.2 points

Hi, Well, The time has come to me. Now I already start the Mig-21bis impoovement project. The project contain the following: - The V1.1 Mig-21 will replace the Su-27 or Mig-29 slot and cockpit instead of the F-16A slot. (Two package will be available) Because I recognised the "Russian" slots is more better than the original F-16A. For ex.: EWR, Radar mode, missile modes, landing chute. etc. - Some small 3D bug is correcting - Ejecting seat 3D model and animation improving - Change available condition for place ladder, security cover... All of them are only visible when plane is on the ground + V=0 + engine = OFF + Canopy = Open - Some Lua script improving - Damage model is improving. Some effect is remodelling and creating some new one. - Pylons are more detailed - Add Chaff/Flare dispenser under the vertical stab wing base (Only available with Serbian, Indian, etc.. skin) - Add more markings/numberings positions on the model (nose, fuselage, tail, wing) - SPS-141-100 ECM system - 244N tactical nuke w his pylon I try to insert all available skin into v1.1 package: (If the skin authors given a permission for me) The new ones should be: DDR camo Indian camo Cuba camo Egypt camo Vietnam camo Iraq camo USA camo Bulgarian camo Russian camo Ukraine camo Finland Camo Bare "Factory" Metal Sorry no 3D cockpit will available in the near future due some difficulties, issue and conflict with the useage of the "home made" cockpit. My Thanks goes to Crunch, Feuerfalke (for an interesting post even if you did hit a few nerves, lol), and Panzertard -Thank you for your more technical insight... I realise my post was a bit contraversial, and some were quick to flame, however it is/was genuineley how i felt, so i would like to take time to explain, after all thoughts are built on experiences and i have my experiences that i hadn't really explained. Yes i think i will miss out to a certain degree, i do still have doubts tho. I have bought nearly all flight sims since Ah64A Apache on the Sinclair Spectrum 48k, and Microprose F117 Stealth Fighter on C64, Gunship 2000 on Amiga A600, Falcon 4. I really dont want to miss one. Regards to PC performance, i could run BlackShark on medium settings, and it ran very smoothly, so credit where its due, my 3 year old PC could run it on the improved graphics well (over 30fps), so i was impressed with the development teams optimisations. Obviously a lot of good work had been done in that department. By downgrading, i pureley meant the points i mentioned, such as smaller map and better continuity between GUI and Engine. By the way, love your videos :) No, i dont have proof, however when i hear others saying that frequent switching of resolution does kill off your monitor fast, and thinking about the fact that yes your monitor does seem to be doing a lot of work to change resolution, personally i thought it was quite obvious that it was true myself thinking about the electrical charges that must be loaded around the capacitors and all that. I will be biased on the side of caution because i cant afford to keep buying monitors, they are expensive, and i've seen Nowhere that this theory is incorrect, googling it to death i find no results to answer my question, so, yes i dont have proof it does, but i find no proof it doesnt either. However as Panzertard pointed out, and i guess its good coming from a tester that no monitors went pop thats very reassuring as i bet its been loaded up a ridiculous amount of times in testing. and yes im not on an ancient CRT, lol. enable graphics card scaling? i'm not sure what that is, at least i dont see any scaling mentioned in the ATI Control Center options. If thats what i need then great! I use my Native Monitor resolution for both desktop and ingame, as its the clearest. Yes it may not be much less map, however some really good bits of the map were cut off, i used to make missions that included Kerch as a natural border (having the water between, having a land mass across some water adds a lot of variation for your missions, and sadly most of Kerch is cut out. And theres no replacement island-like bit of terrain to attack anymore. Crunch: No but i have a LITEON DVD/CD Writer, and many previous titles have used copy protection which makes games incompatible with LITEON, i know the reason why but can't explain here for security reasons, so im always cautious of that, however, i find it very strange indeed that after 3 years, and not having installed any software (literally anything, except windows updates) and then my CD laser decides not to work anymore the very next day after installing BS, what other conclusion could i draw?? I asked around and strangely my freinds all have had a similar issue. What seems to have happened is the DVD/CD Burners have 2 lasers, one for DVD the other for CD, and basically i cannot install LOMAC because its on a CD, and i cannot play music CDs anymore. So that means the CD laser is not operating properly anymore and isnt that a strange coincidence? Feuer: Why does the copy protection need to reboot your pc?, this is because certain things have to be set at pre-OS boot, at BIOS level, this can only mean Hardware interaction. Plus an amazing co-incidence as i mentioned to Crunch above. As a developer myself i really dislike piracy in any shape or form because i know what its like to have my work that i sweated blood to complete get hijacked by some loser who didnt work at all but takes the credit. You could not be more wrong if you think i have ever downloaded anything pirated, but i wont take it personally, i know you sound like tyou dislike those people as much as i do. Panzertard: Thank you for your decent words, and yes i agree with you about protection as per my reason i explained to Feuer, its just some seem a bit OTT. When you look at other protection systems like Steam for example (some might want to flame me no doubt for saying this) but i quite like the fact it dont invade anything, and the level of protection is sufficient for a lot of developers. Im not a Steam fan, but it does seem less painful. Yes okay i take it back. Thats a situation i wasnt thinking about having not really got into a Heli sim for over 10 years. Oh and if i was a wannabe, then why did i uninstall it? lol. You made a point and your right about the usage of farps no need to go over the top. And to the more Fiesty ones.... LOL if you lived where i come from you wouldnt want a Porsche unless you like claiming insurance every day because of vandals. Better hope i dont, i'm good with guns, like my last ex-squad member that joined your squadron after we disbanded. ;) lol. Cant beleive i'm level 3 for notoriety on these boards, LOL thats a first for me. Im not that sort normally. I guess i should've expected some to be very protective.... nvm.2 points

Despite the dynamic campaigns in F4.0 - nowadays the sim strikes me as the worst nightmare I could possibly have about long-term relationships. Yes, I know how those switches and knobs work, there are surely hundreds of them (depending on the purpose and situation), and yes, we have done almost everything together (from a head-on to close-combat and spectacular showdowns) .. but you know, after such a long time .... the landscape seems ... less colorful, almost shallow ... just plain and not exciting anymore. And it is true, no plastic surgery (enhancement) will turn those hills/curves into those I saw back then ... a decade ago. I will always remember you for a real and true and deep love ... but ... it is almost 2k + 10 ... so I start looking for other sims and new excitement, I am male after all, I really need new challenges, some new beauty to look at, something that takes my breath away ... again!2 points

I have created few mods which, in my opinion, solve some minor problems and improve this great game. Mod 1 (install with modman): Before this mod, A-10 gau-8 could not destroy T-55, t-72 etc. Now it can :-) Also, before this mod A-10 pilot would shoot 10 second bursts (!). Now it will fire up to 2 second bursts (which is realistic). If A-10 has to destroy, for example t-72, with this mod it will fire one or two 2-second bursts and destroy the tank. Before this mod it would fire two 10 second bursts, use all of its ammo and not destroy the tank (see attached screenshot) I have also modified some other guns burst length; for example, Mig-31 has 10.000 rpm (!) 30mm gun but only 260 rounds. Before this mod, AI Mig-31 pilot would fire all rounds in one burst. Now he will fire many short bursts. A-10 gau-8 destroys tanks, burst rates.rar1 point

Ok thank you for correcting me, and no i dont have a problem with you Viper. I'm still mystified why my CD read laser stopped working and the DVD laser didnt though directly after installing BlackShark. Its a coincidence i find hard to ignore. And why should StarForce need a pc reboot? whats does it do sub-OS? All things being said though, i've had a good read around some threads here about 2.0 and found some really good posts from people about how MP will be better as ECM cooldown etc is adressed/implemented, and some really good tactical usage of the helis with fixed wing a/c, and i gotta say, that it all is getting my imagination going for some great missions.1 point

I like the way you conveniently left out the part i have highlighted in bold red, no doubt hoping nobody else read far enough to notice that i am right to have my reservations. What would solve this issue is for ED to say whether or not they do use this container technology that uses the drivers, because Star Force are literally using their marketing abilities, knowing that most people will assume a false sense of security if they do not read the instructions fully, which of course, helps to sell their product, but them the small print gets them out of any legal implications if they are found out. And, who doesnt read the manual? 99% of people. If somebody actually commits a yes we do or no we dont use the drivers then they are commited to it. I think what you are talking about here Shrike, is ONLY applicable to programs that use Starforce (such as Lockon) and not to Blackshark as this uses an entirely different security system than Lockon does. Hence asking for a serial key for both versions of the Sim. As far as I know (ED back me up on this) if you only install DCS and not the current Lockon, you won't have the security drivers (that scan your FC cd to make sure it's genuine) installed on your as the disk never needs to be scanned!1 point

I think it has more to do with the fact that we , as flight sim enthusiasts, see the great qualities in other products and want to take all those great features and mush them all together in one final great sim. the dynamic campaign is just one of those "great features" (the DC is working btw in the latest F4 mod, see my last post) that IMO DCS missed the mark on. Its been discussed to death in the past, but to sum up. Its the creation of the that living battlefield that DCS misses more than anything. The idea that your actions affect the outcome of the war by your being a small part of a much bigger picture. Being a combat pilot is much more then knowing how to flip switches :) right now DCS BS lacks that feeling of being part of the war, in a big way. don't get me wrong, i love BS. it is great right up to the point to where you take off, once you take off there is no world to be in. There are targets, and missions, but it just doesn't have that feeling. There is a reason F4 still has a good size player base. but i love DCS for what it is, we talk about DCS being the future sim platform of choice. So take a lot of this criticism with the idea that I would like to see DCS evolve into that ultimate sim. i guess when i think about it, if i could have a wish list it would be. 1. The living war of F4 (feeling of being part of the war, including the radio chatter) 2. the Multiplayer aspect of F4 3. the Fidelity of aircraft modeling of DCS BS 4. the Fidelity of ship modeling of SIlent Hunter 5. the Fidelity of infantry modeling of Armed assault 6. the Damage modeling of IL2 7. the graphics of Crysis 8. the Navy aspect of Janes F/A 18 9. The Armor Fidelity of WWII Online and Steel Beasts 10. the Destructable everything of Soldiers, Heroes of WWII (buildings , terrain etc.) 11. the Physics of Crysis just to name a few, i'm sure if we really thought abuot it we coudl come up with the ultimate sim feature list taking from all the current games and ideas that are out there.1 point

Yes that bitch is really very annoying. When in air there are more planes, she can't stop talking.Maybe add filter.... i don't need to know if enemy has just started 300 km away, and I don't need to hear whole sequence, maybe short them too? Also when AWACS is talking all time it is much easier to be catched by enemy.1 point

каждое граничное условие независимо, поэтому результат исполнения триггера 1 не повлиял на остальные триггеры, и поэтому все смерти засчитались сразу. тут нужно действовать по другому. например: Граничное условие(смерть):объект мёртв(Ка-50):установить флаг(5) периодическое условие(первая смерть): флаг(5) истинный и флаг (1) ложен: устанавливаем флаг1, сбрасываем флаг5 периодическое условие(вторая смерть): флаг(5) истинный, флаг1 истинный и флаг (2) ложен: устанавливаем флаг2, сбрасываем флаг5 периодическое условие(третья смерть): флаг(5) истинный, флаг2 истинный и флаг (3) ложен: устанавливаем флаг3, сбрасываем флаг5 дальше делаем периодическую деактивацию по наличию установленного флага3 ps: на самом деле вижу, что не хватает счетчиков и проверок счетчиков на больше-меньше. может приделаю в А-101 point

This is total and utter BS. I have 2 i repeat 2 holdon maybe you didn't get that I have 2 LiteOn CD/DVDrws in 2 machines. 1 a two year old IDE and the other a 2 month old SATA, (both were bought from Argos) and I have NOT had ANY problems with either of them and I have both DCS and Lockon and have installed and re-installed both on my 2 machines several times. My girlfriend can confirm this as she has ripped quite a few cd's onto her system and I have played several music cd's on mine even straight after installing either Lockon or DCS. I don't know whats going on with your system mate, if a lazer burns out it's proberbly the drive itself and NOT DCS. So next time, replace the drive and leave Eagle Dynamics out of it!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:1 point

All this talk about an obolete missile that was only made for export. For the PAK-FA they're already testing a new kind of A-A missiles, so those will be interesting, the RVV-AE was a nice missile, and it's upgraded a bit for the export customers, but that's it, it's not some kind of radical redesign (like the Aim-120D). And even then, the Meteor will spank both the Aim-120D and the R-77 quite hard.1 point

Agreed. At the very least put a filter on there to read out the only bandits within x miles of your aircraft, (lets say 60). The filter of course would get overrided if you asked the awacs and the nearest bandit happened to be 100 away.... but only if you ask.1 point

Guys, the problem with the articulated rotor system is not the blades flexing, but the flapping at the blade hinges. Remember, flapping reduces the AoA of a blade that's flapping upwards, thus countering dissymmetry of lift. If one were to build a different system to actuate the rotor blades than what is currently used, flapping could be minimised by anticipating the AoA change needed to balance lift. I could be wrong, but i'm guessing that the rotorhead of the x2 can do that. Edit: Looking at what pictures i could get of the X2 rotorhead, it does indeed seem to be clompletely hingeless and also constructed without a swashplate. Therefore i guess that the FBW system can actuate each blade individually, making flapping obsolete and therefore minimising the chance of blade intersection even at the high speeds that this thing is designed for.1 point

Ребят пока был забанен читал ветку , а так же ветки про F-15 Vs СУ27 ,миг 29 . Вы знаете я давно увлекаюсь темой авиации перечитал кучу литературы ,дак вот могу сказать что определение маневренных свойств по удельной нагрузке на крыло и весу не верно ,точнее не совсем верно. Дело в том что F-15 и допустим су27 имеют разный планер и ЭФЕКТИВНОСТЬ его разная у нас интегральная схема наплывы создают завихрения на верхней поверхности крыла а значит разрежение . кроме того хоть F-15 имеет крыло большей площади и меньшую нагрузку удельную эти крылья не позволяют ему летать с перегрузкой 9 больше секунд 15 -20 они просто разваляться. Это же очевидно посмотрите на облики других самолетов американских например F-18 имеет интегральную компоновку и площадь крыла у него сразу другая совсем ,а по маневриности он выше F-15 го , даже все наши конструкторы признают что это самый удачный в плане аэродинамики истребитель американский . F-22 не имеет интегральной компоновки зато сам почти весь плоский и сразу площадь крыла у него какая . Те что хочу сказать для того чтобы хоть как то действительно рассуждать о таких вещах не достаточно какой то там «книжечки» надо консультироваться с теми кто разрабатывает планеры . Так же совершенно очевиден упор американцев да ДВБ . По поводу радаров , идусы например легко воевали с F-15 на учениях и говорили что радары американские на фоне земли слепли, это еще в нескольких источниках я слышал. Я не хочу сказать, что нас намеренно обманывают сейчас трудно наитии достоверные сведения . Могу только осторожно посоветовать ED более глубоко изучить вопрос как в плане аэродинамики так и РЛС современных. Ведь возможно по ту сторону Океана там тоже люди удивляются как это ихняя AIM120C так криво летит итд. Так что возможно и ED не намеренно заблуждается. ИМХО конечно1 point

Who doubts that it is? But let me put it with an old saying: Among the blind, the one-eyed is the king. Yes, it IS old. NO doubt about that. Yes, it looks outdated. Yes, I do believe that DCS is going down a path that will sooner or later replace Falcon4. But also no doubt, that DCS isn't there, yet. So it makes little sense to compare something that is to something that probably will be at some point.1 point

Пожалуйста. Суть триггера "Граничное условие" в том, что он возвращает И (истинное значение) только один раз, когда в первый раз выполняется условие. После этого он возвращает Л (ложное значение). Если условие триггера перестанет, а затем снова начнёт выполняться, то он опять один раз возвратит И. На примере данной задачи: Ставим триггеры "Граничное условие" с проверками на флаги и условиями "Ка-50 мёртв". После первой смерти срабатывает первый триггер. Пока при этом второй триггер уже не сработает, несмотря на уже установленный флаг, т.к. проверка на смерть уже пройдена. После возрождения игрока условие перестанет быть истинным и после второй смерти сработает второй триггер и т.д. Надеюсь, моё объяснение не слишком путаное и непонятное.1 point

to navigate with adf i use the chart on right wall to figure out which channel to set dial to on ARK 22 (6-70 manual). Choose the right mode though - i think if you are hearing the morse code then you are on the antenna mode (page 6-71). You want to be on Compass mode and then either refer to your HSI dial or shoose ARC mode on abris and follow red arrow to airfield. “АНТ-КОМП” (Antenna – Compass) ADF mode switch. This switch allows you to select either “АНТ” antenna mode or “КОМП” compass mode. When in “АНТ” mode, the ADF provides you the NDB audio signal as a Morse code. When in the “КОМП” mode, the ADF provides you RMI steering data on your HSI and ABRIS HSI. This is the key point. The ADF can be slaved to the R800 as the manual states, but that doesn't mean that you can tune in to NDB's using the R800 (since, as you discovered, NDB's lie outside of the R800's frequency range). So, what's the point of slaving the ADF to the R800? Well, any time someone communicates with you over the R800, the ADF will point in their direction. So this is useful for keeping track of wingmen (or, potentially, any other aircraft or any object transmitting over the selected frequency). It's quite neat to see this in action while in a flight of 4 Ka-50's; slave the ADF to the R800, and then order the flight to do something. Then, as each wingman replies to your command, the ADF needle will point in the direction of each helicopter in turn. Or, in case of emergency, you can get the direction of a FARP or airport simply by speaking to the tower.1 point

Пишу вот... опуская все больше и больше подробностей, так как получается второе РЛЭ.. и думаю, будет ли кто нибудь это читатать? Получается немало. Надо ли? Вот кусочек покажу, что бы понимать то ли это, чего надо: Игрок - оператор-командир. ИИ - летчик. Опускаем подготовку и запуск, описываю руление, взлет. Руление: Предполагается, что ККП будет иметь свое окно, интерфейс или что то в этом роде. Перед чтением карты, ИИ должен выполнить все необходимые процедуры по подготовке к очередному этапу полета. Если ИИ еще не выполнил процедуры, то карта может быть неактивна для чтения следующего раздела. Или в процессе чтения карты ИИ выдерживает паузу с ответом, продолжает выполнение процедур и по готовности докладывает. В случае, если мы нарушаем ограничения, то ИИ может и одернуть нас, сославшись на то, что в данных условиях выполнение процедуры запрещено. Найти в РЛЭ пунктов, которые так любят нарушать (не зная о них) пользователи несложно. Если за наиболее часто попранные правила ИИ будет давать подзатыльник - это добавит разнообразия. Процесс радиообмена опускаю. Предполагается, что ИИ может сам вести его в автоматическом режиме, или мы берем вдение переговоров с РП на себя. А так же можем не разговаривать с РП вообще. Получив разрешение на руление, ИИ ждет, пока мы начнем чтение карты. Если мы долго тянем резину, он напоминает: Включаем ККП, выбираем раздел и начинаем чтение. Звучит запрос, ИИ докладывает: При полетах в темное время суток, в сложных метеоусловиях и при низких температурах читаются дополнительные пункты. Выбираем режим «руление», звучит команда – Выруливаем. Если РП указал рабочую полосу, РД для руления и т.п., или условия взлета указаны в миссии, то ИИ начинает руление. Если нет, например мы балуемся в онлайне и с РП не общаемся, то ИИ сделает запрос Что бы дать ему установку, мы можем: 1. На планшете указать маршрут к предварительному\исполнительному старту, или просто точку, к которой он должен сам додуматься как докатиться.. 2. С помощью оперативных команд «Вперед» «Левее» и пр. манипулировать им. 3. Выбрать возможные варианты из перечня (как вариант, при запросе от ИИ открывается окошко, по типу радиообмена и мы можем выбрать, куда ему направляться. Звучит запрос ИИ докладывает: На планшете можем изменить условия взлета – курс, скорость и высоту от исходных Выбираем режим «Предвзлет», звучит команда (не знаю как это правильно называется у вертолетчиков, в РЛЭ не написано) ИИ выполняет отрыв, висение, проверяет САУ и зависает в режиме стабилизации. Звучит доклад Можно в настройках поставить галочку «взлет автоматом» и тогда он не будет висеть, а продолжит взлет сам. Теперь мы можем с помощью оперативных команд, или точных поработать на висении, если нужно. Может пригодиться для перемещения на другую площадку, например. Если начато движение в режиме стабилизации высоты, то снова зависнуть на месте можно с помощью команды (если для оперативных команд все таки будут как вариант использоваться стрелки, то это может быть кнопка 5 на цифровой клавиатуре) Выбираем режим «Взлет по вертолетному с .../B] Звучит команда Или расширенная команда, с перечнем дальнейших условий взлета: ИИ поднимает вертолет согласно выбранному варианту с усредненными параметрами набора высоты и следует по заданному\измененному маршруту. В процессе взлета мы можем оперативными командами, или по карте вносить изменения. Например, если хотим что бы взлет был интенсивнее, командной быстрее, выше (лучше несколько раз) заставим его взлетать на максимально допустимом в текущих условиях режиме, с максимальной скороподъемностью или набором скорости. ИИ не забывает об РЛЭ и докладывает о выполненных процедурах - (несколько раз перечитал раздел взлет, не нашел я условия для убоки шасии) Если задается точный параметр полета, то звучат соответсвуюющие команды ИИ в процессе докладывает скорость, курс, высоту после каждого внесенного изменения Вот такие записки на заборе... Which is exactly my point- isn't that about a third to a half of the land on the DCS "map"? I'm not complaining about the fact that they use less detailed land areas on the edges of the detailed zones we are supposed to fly over to avoid the edge-of-the-world issue. My problem is that if the theater is not extended, the size of the detailed area is going to be a hinderence to realism starting with DCS A-10. Well, my point was that it's EASIER to find, not impossible. What happens if you have multiple escorts? Then you have to look through the briefing to see exactly which. This is a VERY minor point anyway, so it's silly to really even debate it. The vastly better reason that Falcon 4's mission creation and package system is better is that it is MUCH easier and quicker to modify and add flights and packages. Never said that, I said "You'd have to be retarded" a very common and informal way of saying "one would be dumb to". That does not imply a specific person is dumb. Is there any way to jump into control of a flight in the middle of that flight's mission? I can't imagine how, because an aircraft that is designated as being able to be player or client controlled does not fly unless the player or client is in it. Please tell me if I'm wrong and detail how this is done. Can you manually add flights from the F10 map in DCS in the middle of a mission? Because you can in Falcon 4. There's more reason than just that that makes being able to join mid flight a good feature. I can't count the number of times that our wing has scheduled a flight, and then a person shows up late after we have already taken off. That person simply jumps into the cockpit of the bird that he would have taken if he hadn't been late. It's not as fun or realistic as being on time, but it's better than not flying at all! It's a "pro" for many reasons. Really, you're having a utter lack of imagination to not see how this is an excellent feature. What "points"? I was only aware of one point that you had an issue with not being realistic, and I think I have sufficiently detailed why it is a good feature. But still not nearly as varied as what a true dynamic mission generator will give you.1 point

I realised that I have owned BS for more than 1 year now! Many here bought the Russian download back in November 08. I was lucky enough to work out how to buy from 1C's Russian website and posted in this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32909&highlight=buying+russian+version&page=13 I've just re-read some of the frustration and excitement folks went through trying to get their download started. I'd forgotten how many years of waiting we all went through. Was it worth it? Of course! I'm still flying the BS now and enjoying some mission designing. Sorry to hear you're dissapointed, Shrike. I had many similar worries when I started flying the DCS. I've learned to understand a bit more about those features over time. The main reason is because the Main menu is presented using OpenGL. In case you wanted to edit you mission / change setups - you wouldnt have to change resolutions. Thus saving your monitor - not that I have heard any of my monitors pop yet because of all the different resolution I use (LCD here, not CRT). I've never heard about such with people wearing out their monitor because of resolution changes anyway ... :) The game-engine presents it's content by using DirectX - but due to FPS constrains, you may need a different resolution. I think it's great to be able to work in the Main menu GUI in full resolution. :) In general I agree with you. I "hate" anything that gives me more job to run my PC / OS and keep it healthy over time. Luckily I've been using the SF on several computers with no impact on the PC/OS itself. I no longer fear "the dreaded SF". :) But I DO understand and respect the need ED have to protect their work - it's what pays for their dinners ... SF is one of the current and "popular" methods of ensuring that your dinner lands on your table after a hard day at work. ;) In the future - who knows, it may change. It's a choice for ED - because of memory limitations, engine limitations and performance. - There's no 64bit version of the game-engine available - it takes time to build one that takes advantage of all the memory available. - You cannot have greater details on ground as well as maintaining the same amount of area. Something must go. But "over time" we may see a better game engine - allowing for greater areas and good details for the ground-hogs. - Who: Squadrons with a proper planned mission schedule. Or random mission servers with a good mission setup. - What: SAR missions, or MUD movers missions. Will require Air-supremacy. <-- Good thing. And or any combnation of what flyers do in real-life while at work. ;) If someone plays "Air-Quake" then they wont use the feature (FC<-->DCS) anyway, because all they do is to fly around and "shoot stuff, z0mg I rawk!". ;)1 point

I'll tackle your post :) DX9, Higher mesh terrain etc in DCS. This is not a downgrade Wow! I never heard of such a thing. Do you have proof of changing resolution hurting your monitor. Also, I never saw what the big deal was about having a different executable for GUI and game. I am sorry you had problems. You can really guarantee that the same version of copy protection used in DCS trashed your drive? SF has been updated numerous times. I have never had an issue with it. The map is not that much smaller. I bet KM wise, maybe 100-200kms. Between the new airbases in DCS and say Anapa, I bet it is over 400kms. This is not a short distance. It gives us another option. People can still host servers with dedicated A2G. You can also design missions that help the A2G. You may not want to fly a helo for A2G, but plenty of others will. It gives us more choice, always a good thing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I feel your negative views are unsubstantiated. Of course, I mean no offence. These are just my opinions as well.1 point

COMMON PROCEDURE: Navigating in WPT Task Mode with Route Switch On 1. Illuminate WPT task light on the PVI-800 panel. 2. Select point number of task point desired (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) OPTION 3a. Place DH/DT switch in position DH to travel point directly to each task point. 3b. Place DH/DT switch in position DT to travel along route lines between points 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6. 4. Move route-descent switch to ROUTE position to engage autopilot behavior. Note: WPT Task Mode with Route Switch On is the only task mode that will automatically change the task point to the next; 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5, and 5 to 6. After task point 6 the autopilot will fly in a straight line. Note: Any of the above procedures with the route-descent switch in the OFF position will give visual HSI, ADI, and HUD navigation cues but the autopilot will not attempt to fly the helicopter to the task point. Instead it will be the pilot's job to follow the visual indications.1 point
