Hello, ModMan 7.2 will be released this week fully supporting FC2 Like ModMan 7.1 done the job for BS, ModMan 7.2 will be able to add skin as new slot (modders always need to make your 'skin.lma' text file describing the skin settings) best regards Skypat6 points

After 3 days with this sim I have barely scratched the surface of all it has to offer but feel that I have had sufficient flight time for some impression to begin taking shape which will hopefully stand up to scrutiny by my peers; Value for money & first impressions · We were promised an expansion to FC at a cut down price. This price increased as the time taken & features included by the devs were higher than they initially estimated. This caused some feather ruffling amongst the more impatient within the community, but as many of us pointed out at the time, quality costs money, time costs money, and experience costs money, and we would rather have devs working to higher goals to give us a richer, more immersive experience. If that costs an extra $15, then here is mine! · What we actually got was, IMO, way more than expected. I have spent the weekend just getting used to the A-10 and it will take me months to get the full measure of the reworked plane roster. · The separate control schemes are a masterstroke. Yes they will take time, but once set-up will offer a much tighter control than a one-size-fits-all-profile which we have been using. With all the plane specific controls, profiles were creaking at the seams. · The whole new interface brings the sim much more into line with DCS which is a good thing going forward. The mission planner & load out screens are much faster to navigate than before and the DCS control mapping is much more intuitive. · The game engine upgrades are a revelation! Improved in every way, this game is now back to where it belongs, at the cutting edge of sim technology. It’s a real eye opener and all the mods I used to use to bring FC1.12b up to scratch are now not needed. It’s beautiful out of the box and is a real technical achievement. When you think that what the devs have basically done, this would be the equivalent of MS bringing out a patch that turned XP into windows 7! This is evidence of the consistent coding practices at ED, (as the software dev who sits next to me at work explained). Depth · I have begun the A-10 campaign and flown a couple of standalone missions and now feel much more connected to the virtual battlefields than before. More comms, more scripted speech, the vastly more complex threat environment, the improved cockpits, all combine to generate a much firmer feeling of immersion then before. We still don’t have the oft asked for F4 style dynamic campaign but I would suggest that the mod makers get on the case there. After all, the F4 DC was smoke and mirrors to a large extent and a further development of the excellent RamGen mod could work wonders here. · Working through the new campaigns & missions, re-learning the aircraft systems and their tactical employment in the new environment, creating specific control sets, multiplayer refuelling (yay! *EDIT: apparantly*), all this is going to take a while and promises to be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. Difficulties So far, I’ve only had a couple and they are mostly either third party specific of a case of RTFM. · The key command changes have thrown my Cougar profile a few curveballs. I couldn’t get the trim to work (is ‘Rctrl+;’ the same as ‘;+Rctrl’ ?), so I ended up changing the key bindings. Sorted. I have a new rule. If I can’t get the default key mapping working on the Cougar in 5 mins because of Korgy, etc, then I change the damn key. · The DCS “shimmer effect” on mountains / distant terrain. I seem to recall that this was driver related on Black Shark and I am sure will be easy to sort out. Not a game breaker. · Sound level issues. The plane sound effects are muted, (flare dispensing, etc). Posts suggest this can be resolved by tweaking the in game sound sliders. I am experimenting with this as I like to hear my gears/ flaps retracting. · trackIR Z-axis / zoom. This is a pain and I will do some more forum trawling later. Basically, I can’t get the trackIR Z axis to control the in game zoom properly. I desperately need this for strafing. I have set it to “zoom” in the control screen but is still doesn’t work properly and instead it does a weird “matrix” camera pull-shot thing, whereas pressing “zoom” on the numerical keypad actually zooms. (I am admin, trackIR is admin, FC is admin, everybody is admin). ;) This may be a .lua limit put in place to prevent exessive zooming breaking the reworked 6dof cockpit module. · The thorny subject of the missing training content. I can see where Ed acre coming from here. To badly paraphrase Wags, the track file playback in LOMAC was badly flawed and broke all the time. Rather than being flamed by countless posters, they have chosen to link to video content instead. Fair enough. I would suggest adding an explanation to that effect on the training screen because, as it stands, its looks broken. The training videos are great however, and releasing them early on YouTube was a very good move. So far…. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this release. There are always going to be a few teething problems at first, but nothing major to report. The upgrade has breathed new life into FC and this will re-invigorate the community and keep us engrossed, allowing ED to shift resources onto DCS:A10. With this release, ED have given a massive shot in the arm to our hobby and the genre, which was sorely needed. They have shown the way for independent self publishing studios to move forward without the monolithic restrictions and pressures dictated by out of touch and paranoid publishers, (yes UBI, I am looking at you), obsessed more with crippling DRM and treating their customers as criminals, than they are with quality and commitment to their craft. Well done ED! See you in the skies. :pilotfly: p.s To celebrate the release of FC2.0 I am now turning labels off! (he said sheepishly):music_whistling:4 points

I've imported the Simmod A-10 in FC2, i manually edited the .lua to move pylons accordingly to the values in 1.12 meinit.xml. Everything seemed to be ok, but once in cockpit it seems that the cockpit is positioned too after, and part of the external 3d model is visible in fornto of the cockpit, giving a bad visual effect. I've attached some screnshot to show the glitch. Somebody knows how (and if) is possible to fix this? In the meanwhile, this is the .\Script\Database\planes\A-10A.lua section regarding Pylons position corrected with values for the Simmod model: pylon(1, 0, -0.22, -0.062, -5.522, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{6D21ECEA-F85B-4E8D-9D51-31DC9B8AA4EF}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E741}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E742}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E743}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E744}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E745}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E746}" }, } ), pylon(2, 0, -0.69, -0.133, -4.526, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{FD90A1DC-9147-49FA-BF56-CB83EF0BD32B}" }, { CLSID = "{3DFB7321-AB0E-11d7-9897-000476191836}" }, { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{CAE48299-A294-4bad-8EE6-89EFC5DCDF00}" }, } ), pylon(3, 0, -0.615, -0.267, -3.468, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{FD90A1DC-9147-49FA-BF56-CB83EF0BD32B}" }, { CLSID = "{A76344EB-32D2-4532-8FA2-0C1BDC00747E}" }, { CLSID = "{3DFB7321-AB0E-11d7-9897-000476191836}" }, { CLSID = "{69DC8AE7-8F77-427B-B8AA-B19D3F478B66}" }, { CLSID = "{D7670BC7-881B-4094-906C-73879CF7EB28}" }, { CLSID = "{907D835F-E650-4154-BAFD-C656882555C0}" }, { CLSID = "{E6A6262A-CA08-4B3D-B030-E1A993B98452}" }, { CLSID = "{444BA8AE-82A7-4345-842E-76154EFCCA46}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{AB8B8299-F1CC-4359-89B5-2172E0CF4A5A}" }, { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{60CC734F-0AFA-4E2E-82B8-93B941AB11CF}" }, { CLSID = "{B83CB620-5BBE-4BEA-910C-EB605A327EF9}" }, } ), pylon(4, 0, -0.35, -0.355, -1.585, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{FD90A1DC-9147-49FA-BF56-CB83EF0BD32B}" }, { CLSID = "{3DFB7321-AB0E-11d7-9897-000476191836}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{AB8B8299-F1CC-4359-89B5-2172E0CF4A5A}" }, -- { CLSID = "{69DC8AE7-8F77-427B-B8AA-B19D3F478B66}" }, -- { CLSID = "{444BA8AE-82A7-4345-842E-76154EFCCA46}" }, } ), pylon(5, 0, -0.615, -0.405, -0.587, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{AB8B8299-F1CC-4359-89B5-2172E0CF4A5A}" }, } ), pylon(6, 0, -0.615, -0.41, 0.000000, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { } ), pylon(7, 0, -0.615, -0.405, 0.587, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{AB8B8299-F1CC-4359-89B5-2172E0CF4A5A}" }, } ), pylon(8, 0, -0.35, -0.355, 1.59, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{FD90A1DC-9147-49FA-BF56-CB83EF0BD32B}" }, { CLSID = "{3DFB7321-AB0E-11d7-9897-000476191836}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{AB8B8299-F1CC-4359-89B5-2172E0CF4A5A}" }, -- { CLSID = "{69DC8AE7-8F77-427B-B8AA-B19D3F478B66}" }, -- { CLSID = "{444BA8AE-82A7-4345-842E-76154EFCCA46}" }, } ), pylon(9, 0, -0.615, -0.27, 3.459, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{FD90A1DC-9147-49FA-BF56-CB83EF0BD32B}" }, { CLSID = "{A76344EB-32D2-4532-8FA2-0C1BDC00747E}" }, { CLSID = "{3DFB7321-AB0E-11d7-9897-000476191836}" }, { CLSID = "{69DC8AE7-8F77-427B-B8AA-B19D3F478B66}" }, { CLSID = "{D7670BC7-881B-4094-906C-73879CF7EB27}" }, { CLSID = "{907D835F-E650-4154-BAFD-C656882555C0}" }, { CLSID = "{E6A6262A-CA08-4B3D-B030-E1A993B98453}" }, { CLSID = "{444BA8AE-82A7-4345-842E-76154EFCCA46}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{AB8B8299-F1CC-4359-89B5-2172E0CF4A5A}" }, { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{60CC734F-0AFA-4E2E-82B8-93B941AB11CF}" }, { CLSID = "{B83CB620-5BBE-4BEA-910C-EB605A327EF9}" }, } ), pylon(10, 0, -0.69, -0.133, 4.520, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{FD90A1DC-9147-49FA-BF56-CB83EF0BD32B}" }, { CLSID = "{3DFB7321-AB0E-11d7-9897-000476191836}" }, { CLSID = "{BCE4E030-38E9-423E-98ED-24BE3DA87C32}" }, { CLSID = "{ADD3FAE1-EBF6-4EF9-8EFC-B36B5DDF1E6B}" }, { CLSID = "{CAE48299-A294-4bad-8EE6-89EFC5DCDF00}" }, } ), pylon(11, 0, -0.22, -0.057, 5.54, { FiZ = -3.3, }, { { CLSID = "{DB434044-F5D0-4F1F-9BA9-B73027E18DD3}" }, { CLSID = "{3C0745ED-8B0B-42eb-B907-5BD5C1717447}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E741}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E742}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E743}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E744}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E745}" }, { CLSID = "{A4BCC903-06C8-47bb-9937-A30FEDB4E746}" }, } )1 point

:joystick:1 point

Dedicated to ruggbutt and who hates the shimmering shadows. for LockOn 1.1x and 1.0x, LoMan 2.1 and ModMan compatible. Available at my site This mod removes the cloud shadows to solve the shimmering shadow problem. I know this is not the best solution to the problem, but now you have a choice at least; Shimmering shadows or No cloud shadows. It's normal "Structure Lights Mod" is stated as "Not installed" when this mod is installed.1 point

This brand spanking-new Airbus 340-600, the longest passenger airplane ever built, sits just outside its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi. The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all Four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having Read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 Really is....... The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had All 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to take off, but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc..) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit-breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm. This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air......... The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on...... Not one member of the seven-man ADAT crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $200 million brand-new Aircraft crashed into a blast-barrier, totaling it. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out.... #French Airbus: $200 million dollars #Untrained ADAT Flight Crew: $300,000 Yearly Salary #Unread Operating Manual: $300 #Aircraft meets retaining wall, and the wall wins: PRICELESS!!! And the Lesson............... :megalol:1 point

First, they won't share profit information with consumers. Secondly, why don't you wait more then 2 days before asking if the release is either a "commercial success or failure." You can't brand a product a failure or success in 2 days. No company will know that until at least a couple months or more. Lastly, this is a niche market. And as such this (to my knowledge) is the only modern combat flight sim that's still being updated through the wishes of its user base. Yes they had to raise the price, but that doesn't mean the company isn't going to produce any more products. This thread is premature in my opinion.1 point

Nope, objective in 1 are tanks in the village, near a bridge. In 2A the objective is near the abandoned airstrip. That doesen't mean in mission 1 there are not enemy units in the abandoned airstrip (there are in fact), it means the objective is another tank group (the one in the village). In the mission 2, your tropps advance to the village you have just cleaned, so the next target is the airstrip: 1 2A1 point

If you have enough RAMs, increase them. Doing so, you avoid them being relaoded too frequently in a precache radius (LOD radius). The Modellod range tweak has nothing to do with "loading them" or stutters, just how your cpu deals with them. It makes really no sense to calculate details beyond any visual range. Regards common files i would suggest a common modellod.txt file (available on forums of specific squads) rather then just sticking with the standart file. This way integrity can still be provided. PS: so far the game isnt bad at all in certain areas (nice work and honor to those who deserve it) but there are also certain epic-fail errors which particular ( flaps drag values and their "inverted F22" effects )* have been reported to devs...further tests in progress. *Test Flaps: engines off, constant descending at 150kts with slight negative pitch (gliding) applying flaps ....observing drag and speed loss = almost none sustain turns at 250kts at 4.5Gs ....applying flaps.... what happens is this: you gain speed !!! the current flaps "do lift" and also decrease AoA (drag) under load, but due to lack of enough surface drag values of the flaps surfaces, you speed up and can sustain with flaps more Gs and you GAIN speed in a way which should not be the case. Right now F = F22 button. Probably just an small error (just wrong value) but dramatic impact . Needs a fix asap! Best would be (as by many beta testers what i know wished) that you can NOT deploy flaps at such high speeds anyway (see AFM su-25T << there they thought about this) ...would be good to use them in combination with gears only...(smart workaround in logic sense)1 point

From my tests thus far, it is not worth betting on the fact that the ER launched from Rmax will hit, it is purely to scare the bandit. As such, providing better launch parameters for the ER is crucial in the outcome of the fight. I find the best time to launch is 40-35km, with 5-9 second interval between missile launches. By this time it is possible that the bandit will fire at you with an early AIM-120C/B, some pilots will spam you with up to 3 missiles (witnessed online already), in these situations it is better to perform a tactical turn (180 degrees) and extend full burn, you want to minimize closure rate as much as possible. Notching is also a very good option, but it all depends on the situation you are in, if you are going to start marking while diving between 12,000m to ~5,000m you are inviting more bandits to switch on you and thus getting into deeper trouble. There is an infinite amount of scenarios :) not a simple equation.1 point

For searching there's basically three things you need to do. Scan left and right, scan up and down (to maximum ranges sometimes, especially if you think the bandit is close) and change PRF (pulse repetition frequency). The latter is your sensitivity to bandits flying towards you (high PRF) or away from you (medium PRF). ILV PRF is interleaved where it switches between high and low. TWS does not have benefits like the F-15C does where you can launch a missile without giving the target the launch warning, but TWS is certainly handy to get aspect information of multiple bandits at the same time, without the need to lock each one of them up. Also don't forget to do occasional scans with EOS. If you detect him early enough, use the range advantage of your R-27ER's. Launch from high, then descend and crank to minimize closure and increase ground clutter for the F-15. Try to keep him at a distance. There is no fool proof way of winning this battle, but there are many foolish ways of losing it. Besides that, use teamwork! Check out the 51st PVO Regiment. We fly the Su-27 almost solely and use superior teamwork to win our battles.1 point

THANK YOU Eagle Dynamics, Wags, and everyone who worked on FC 2.0 for bringing back to life in such a fantastic way our beloved LockOn. It is a great joy to be flying this sim with all the new fixes and eye candy and smoothness of play, you guys are fantastic and it is well worth the price. I look forward to many more years flying your great sim and will support you all 100%. Again THANK YOU so much for your hard work and patience.1 point

New look for old A-10s A pilot from the 303rd Fighter Squadron taxis A-10 number 144 past other aircraft from the 442nd Fighter Wing. Number 144 sports a new antenna, just behind the canopy (inset), for the Beyond-Line-of-Sight Airborne Radio Communications-210 system. The new system will allow pilots to communicate via satellite to ground forces. (U.S. Air Force photo illustration/Staff Sgt. Tom Talbert)1 point

Several guys in 3Sqn have mentioned this.... THE CHAT BOX Can't make it smaller and takes up 1/3 of your screen. With kill messages currently on in the servers (how exactly do you turn those off again?) it becomes incredibly annoying when that enemy Mig you are in a turning fight with is hiding behind text.1 point

Doing some high altitude recon I spot another series of tanks loitering along one of the other roads leading into the town. They are very hard to see, but using some geographic reference points helps locate the targets once I roll in. Let's try those Rockeyes again! Errr..not so much.. How about Mark-82s? Hmm..still not so much. I pretty much figure you would have to score a direct, smack on shot with one of those to kill a main battle tank. So..stupid me, I'm hungry to kill one of those guys, so I roll in with the Avenger. Rounds slap the ground all around the tank, but I can't set it ablaze. But my greed and stupidity lure me down low into the hornet's nest and another ZSU opens up on me and brings my little mission to an end. As my wing tears off I hit the eject button and just manage to get the chute open as I hit the ground. Escape and evasion anyone?? My mission results are fair. I get a mission success, although I don't consider any mission where you don't bring yourself home to be a success. I did get hits on the T-72s with both the Mk-82s and the cannon, just not enough to put them out of business. Fantastic stuff! Looking forward to the next mission.. BeachAV8R1 point

I think so, the sound engine is new and you'd only be changing sound files (same as for textures)1 point

ED did not program the G940 to include centering forces in the stick so it is impossible to get DCS Black Shark helicopter to hover properly using the Logitech G940. How is it in FC2.0?1 point

It's quite simple: 1. Extract the files ricardo-HD3.cdds, ricardo-HD2.cdds and ricardo-HD1.cdds into Bazar\World folder in your directory 2. Add the following lines into your graphics.cfg as shown in the following screenshot1 point

5. Copy all files of YourDrive:\Programme\Lock....... This superfluous1 point

For R&R the airfield you are landing on must be a friendly one. So if you are in the blue coalition you should look for a blue flag on the bottom right see screen below. For red coalition you need a red flag see screen below If you land on a neutral airfield you should see a white flag see screen below With that being said, you can land on any airfield but if you need to R&R you will need to land on a captured airfield by your coalition and only at that point you will get Ground service at your disposal. Now how to make airfield captured by your coalition? Have a ground vehicle within 2 KM of the airfield and the neutral base will be captured and your side will be able to use that airfield with the ability to R&R. If the ground vehicle is destroyed the base will become neutral again until it's captured again. The only permanent airfield that will remain captured by your coalition even if there's no vehicle is the one where you will respawn and the plane is set for Takeoff from ramp or runway. Since we are on the subject of airfield, I have a suggestion to make, add a command post vehicle at the airfield you own in case the tower is destroyed from that airfield. The command post will maintain the comms for that airfield. If there's no tower and no command post you won't be able to establish comms with the airfield. USA = APC M1025 HMMWV Russia = CP SKP-11 ATC command post. Hope it clears things up a bit1 point

Ok, shameless self-promotion: Bachelor of Applied math, engineer of automated control systems by education. Musician by heart. Background music for FC2 ;) Few years ago I was active Linux audio developer, proud author of alsa-midi driver for JACK (realtime audio server for professional audio), and author of JACK2 midi engine. Learned a lot there - open source is cool. I also play in Moscow Laptop Orchestra (contemporary improvisational music) - http://cyberorchestra.com/1 point

The Osprey autorotates poorly, and it glides poorly. If you lose both engines, you better have some luck on your side. That being said, there is a series of interconnecting driveshafts and gearboxes that allow either engine to run both props. So losing just one engine is not a complete disaster...maybe.1 point
