  3. Someone mentioned that 30 has great manoeuvrability. So what? Do you really think Cobra will defend plane from being hit? I know some think that Cobra or another manoeuvre will not only defend plane from being hit but also make missiles to turn back to attacker. :D Untill 30 uses manoeuvres long range missile will hit. BTW, I am bit surprised Su-30 uses K-13 :O

  5. Come on guys, we all know Battlefield 2 has the most realistic flight dynamics for a helicopter. It has to be! I was very skilled in BF 2 with the cobra! Right? :( And because i was skilled, doesnt that mean it was realistic? I mean.... It has to be.... it has to..

  7. As a pilot (as I'm sure many of you are), with time in helos big and small, I have to say this: Though DCS:BS may have a few shorcomings, the flight dynamics are not on that list. The flight fidelity of this sim is without equal in the PC world. I actually don't go around shooting too many things in this sim. I plan routes and explore the KA-50's flight envelope under varying conditions, and I'm constantly surprised at the level of realism. Is there a lot to learn? Of course! Are the flight controls and avionics confusing? Sometimes. (I mean, it's Russian! :smilewink: ) But blame Kamov. ED gave you an arcade mode if you don't want to learn to fly the thing. As for ease of use, regarding UI; Again, I've had a much easier time with Black Shark than with most other sims. I have never even ventured into BS's config files, and I think that's saying something! As for... Thanks for attributing one person's comment to the entire community. :no_sad: Everyone else has been pleading for a track file and asking for more details so as to help him. ChromeWasp continues to claim what other sims can and can't do and making baseless, generalized accusations. It sounds like a rant to me, born of frustration due to lack of experience with the system.

  8. At least we are all still bounded by this amazing field called Aviation ^^ I know we all have differences in Aircraft preferences (and sometimes may have very conflicting beliefs and thoughts) but I firmly believe we are all under one Umbrella of enthusiasm. Pilots, non pilots, military personnel or just ordinary people, we love aircraft^^ All Aircraft, regardless if it is Western, Eastern or originated from someplace else are amazing pieces of machinery. Most people seem to overlook how complex they are. ;) My~ I've become so sentimental and probably off topic too :xmas:  :D

  10. the physics and flight model in this simulator are not realistic at all hard to fly - yes realistic - no in fact this helicopter feels like a paper bag even at 200 kph it rocks and jumps about as if there is no airflow outside at all - look at it in outside view! its as if the mass has been set to 500 kg instead of 10,000 kg taking off often results in a 720 degree spin - if you watch the outside view you can see the broken contact physics between the wheels and the ground where did all the torque come from? it is contra-rotating fcs! this is no fun - there are some great simulation ideas here - but the overall package is just a paper bag full of bugs unless you are flying with the autopilot in either route or hover mode this feels like a robinson r22 full of helium combined with never ending short comings in the software design itself: - limited control mapping options - bad window management - constant minor glitches - inconsistent and incomplete and badly designed documentation the idea is ok - the execution lacking - another nail in the coffin of the sim industry

  14. And ED knows people who fly the Ka-50, as well as the engineers that built the thing and technicians that maintain it and similar equipment, since Kamov were involved in development. I believe ED wins this particular e-peen competition. ;) (Look under "Subject Matter Experts" in the credits list and you'll find people that compare the simulator to the real thing. Also, do remember that the company you are talking about here makes military simulators as well - for example every US pilot that converts to the Charlie Hog will use software developed by TFC and ED.) Basically sir, the reason why we believe you to be doing "something wrong" is that the behaviours you are describing are very typical for people who are just starting out, while people who have studied the helicopter for a while pretty much never have any of those things you describe happen to them. If the simulator itself was at fault, it would happen to us vets as well, but it isn't. That should tell you something. Again though, I'd really like to know what your computer setup is, since there may be ways to improve performance. A DxDiag would be perfect. (Start -> Run -> DxDiag -> Save to file -> upload to forum.) I am also a pilot IRL, and I have also been simming for decades. Learning to use this particular piece of equipment is still a long road and a humble attitude towards the learning curve is not only advantageous - it is nigh on a requirement. For all intents and purposes you are "noob", since you are new to the simulator. Nothing wrong in that - we've all been there. Also, realize that when you start talking about GTA as a Simulator, people will end up saying nasty things. It's just the study sim culture: we get angry enough when something like HAWX gets listed as a "sim" in store shelves, so people are liable to interpret the notion that GTA is somehow a sim and something to compare to as a pretty big middle finger. ;) (That's why people accused you of being a troll: the things you said are exactly the right things to say if you want to insult the study simulator hobby and it's afficionados.)

  19. Actually, the graphics engine of Condor is simplistic and relatively inefficcient, and the physics modelling is equally simplistic table-simulation. The reason it runs good on old hardware is... that i's old. ;) Also, it does not simulate electronics, radio, AI, ballistics, blade elements, has a much smaller terrain area to keep in memory, etcetera etcetera... :) Not knocking it - I love Condor. But comparing it with DCS:BS is, again, like saying you should be able to run Bad Company 2 in 1900x1200 since Tetris runs fine at that resolution... Like I was saying several times: what is your hardware? All the time you spent talking about graphics I've been trying to get you to divulge some information on the component that actually matters: the CPU. Then a smart thing might be to actually give the information I and others have requested in our quest to try helping you sort out your problem? DxDiag might help as a starting point. Oh, and helicopters smash into the ground for very good reasons in DCS:BS. It's just that the "good reasons" might not be obvious to someone that doesn't fly or is otherwise well acquainted with 10-tonne attack helicopters. ;)

  20. Maybe you should try comparing the features in BS and Condor, and then you would see why the Black Shark is more demanding in terms of computing. If you can write the physics for a chopper to run on your phone in 20min, this comparison should both be very easy, and it should be VERY obvious as to why Black Shark requires a lot more horsepower. Here's a hint: It isn't 'graphics gimmicks'. FYI, the business of flight is very visual - it is a very visual environment, so whatever 'gimmicks' make it more realistic are worth it. And BTW, are you seriously running DCS on lower than reccomended specs and complaining about it?

  21. Try again when you have the computer to run it, it sounds like you were running it under the minimum system requirements. I didnt like BS the first time around, I gave up, I didnt have enough patience, tried it again a few months later and now I UNDERSTAND and I love BS. My problem wasnt hardware though, but lack of patience. Just save it until you have a computer that can run it. Trust us, if you try again, a more HUMBLE attempt I think you will understand too. You have to be humble to learn this sim.

Yeah, it may take more than 1 second to look thru the forums, and most people don't have the time to sit here sorting post but, the information is here. From programmer to actual pilots. From Mechanics to designers, the information is here. I think some times I see 10+ post in as many minutes. There people making there own tutorial in You Tube ( there is many) People making checklists, etc. Read the manual, go to you tube and type; DCS Black Shark ( 918 results for me) Come here and search the forums. And finally there is a plethora of online squadrons that have their own training, PDF files, videos etc to help train you :joystick:

  23. Excellent idea, might I suggest hula hooping, its a blast especially if you can get up to 5 hoops on the go. But you might want to think about getting some more horsepower soon though and really enjoying this sim to the full, only then will you be able to understand why so many people show so much passion for DCS. Thanks for understanding.

You are not the one who decides how it should have been done. Real life hardware has real life limitations, and I doubt you could have done any better.

  28. As stated befor, The manual is the bible for this sim and all future DCS sim's you will need to start over learning the systems properly. I do see some of your pointd like the ground being sticky. ED knows this to be a issue and hopefuly they will fix it. As for the market of ED/DCS, theas sim's are to show how well they can simulate the air fraims to a exacting detail. ED is and are a milarty contracted sim builder first and not a game desiner for the Joe public to enjoy. The A-10C is a direct desindent of the USAF contracted simulation, And the US was nice enough to alow Joe public to enjoy the frutes of EDs labor in the DCS series. This is just making the point that the KA-50 was build just like the real thing and real pilots do alot of learning befor they aculy get to climb into the airframe to fly it. I spent one weak reading the manual befor even trying to fly. After my first flight and crash  I went back to the book, watched the track to see what I did wrong and asked for help here. problem fixed and moved on to the next problem and so on. I know if you are willing to let go of the frustration and bit of anger. We can help you a great deal. We all here have learnd alot over the last year on the how to's to get started quickly, setup right from the start and have less issues. I do offer training to anyone that wants it and am willing to walk you thrue setting up the sim, controles, LUA files, config files that will make the sime run a little smother. Stop buy the Mercenarie web site forum PM me and we can do a little training to work out the buggs and frustration's. You are just makeing some basic misstakes. Good luck, I hope you learn to enjoy this sim as I have. :pilotfly:

  32. Seriously, we still arguing with this guy? We can talk cpu vs. gpu, blade vs. tables, and so forth 'til the sun sets. His mind is, and has been, already made up. Let's post some tutorial links, show him the noob start page... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=39015 ...and call this one a wash. Really, GTA? Everyone here knows that BS's pedigree is Mario Cart. Come back when you have real, specific questions. It's been a hoot. Goodnight!

  34. Just when I read CSL I wet my pants :P As Jeremy Clarkson once said, who needs a stereo when you have that gorgeous inline-6 cylinder ///M engine :)

  35. Nice car :) But it would have to be the CSL doesn't it? ;)

  36. Just fly, save the track after the flight, then attach the .trk. It's just one or two megabyte anyhow. Also, do remember that there should not be any wind noise. In an attack helicopter you are sitting in a sound-proofed cockpit wearing a sound-proofed helmet with noise-cancelling headphones... Be happy you can hear your rotors. :P Because that's how it's built. Pilots use checklists for a reason. ;) Well, hello again Mr. Troll. ;) Seriously speaking, do you really believe yourself there? I do wish people who say silly stuff like that would at least show the courtesy of putting their money where their mouths are: go ahead and do it. If you can't do it, then you are not qualified to make that judgement and should stop acting like a troll. Weird then that my old graphics card (a 9800) can run the "nice bits" and "graphical gimmicks" perfectly, with the only impactor on FPS being my CPU clock. Quite simply, I believe you are completely misreading what's happening inside your computer as far as simulator performance goes. They do not make the game uncomfortable. They are the reason people are buying it in the first place. They ensure synergies with the military market. Strangely enough, the world isn't always about pleasing you. ;) I'm still waiting for that 20-minute simulation engine. When you have made that I'll consider you an authority on programming. Basically, here's a hint: PC's are by definition extremely inefficient compared to consoles. This is because console programmers know exactly what hardware they are going to run on and can program optimizations specifically for it. Programmers working on the PC platform need to optimize of literally billions of possible system configurations. Again: if you think it's simple, please show your credentials and just go ahead and do it. You've spent more time on this forum lamenting this than it would take for you to program your own simulation engine! Actually, I'd contest that it has a flight model at all. That is even further away from a "sim" than HAWX. :P

  40. The learning curve, especially for anyone not familiar with rotary wing physics and operation (trim, flight control systems, etc), is going to burn a lot of hours getting their head around the basics. There are a whole lot of tutorials out now that lay out how to fly the shark in laymen terms since release that will get you in the right direction. The best way to learn is to how helicopters work is to get those reading glasses (or monocle if you're high speed :) ) , there are many books available but I suggest this: http://www.amazon.com/Principles-Helicopter-Flight-W-Wagtendonk/dp/1560276495/ref=cm_lmf_tit_1_rsrssi0 After that, read the manual thoroughly, this airframe is loaded with equipment that will make your life easier flying while you focus your attention on putting weapons on targets. Watch as many tutorial videos as you can, this youtube channel has pretty much everything you'll need to know how to operate the KA50: http://www.youtube.com/user/eagledcs#p/u/20/WY9E0ipyI38 After that, just get as much stick time as you can. feel how the airframe reacts with and without autopilot and flight director. I (big indicator, "I", not everyone) would recommend purchasing a force feedback system. You will notice right away how trim is used to control the airframe. I use the Logitech G940 system and with these settings: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=954388&postcount=118 This sim isn't for the recreational gamer. If you have a fetish for aviation, fly model or full scale rotary wing aircraft, you can really appreciate the attention to detail ED and everyone involved put into this. This sim singlehandedly rose an entire genre back from the dead (really really bleached bone dead). Word does spread fast as I mentioned this sim to two people I work with who like PC gaming and both know and admire the sim, that says a lot for a sim that is supposed to be the final nail to the genre.

  41. Hi Cosmo81, I have the same exact problem as yours: after I have locked a target, then push F8, but nothing happens. Does F8 ever work? How do you solve this?

  42. definitelly install as an administrator. Weird stuff usually happens because of this. BTW, nvidia driver date is 11/8/2007 o_O Go to acer website and update all drivers for your acer 5920g, not only nvidia drivers. (nvidia driver is from 12/2008 so it's old also, but try it. You might want to also try 2010 driver from nvidia website http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-258.96-whql-driver.html)

  45. Where do you relieve yourself if you have to go? No cheating now. Well I guess since you can't drink brews while flying, you may not have that problem as much. Seriously, I don't mind playing either way. But I don't restrict myself to any one way all the time either. I like the eye candy too.
