hello guys thanks for you support during this long project. it is going to be a modman install. you will have to install it in two parts with an order. part1 first and part two if you don't some textures will not apear it is due to the weard architecture that ed used to build it's pits. some files from the english game use parts of the russian one. it was the reason why some peaces of my textures were not in game for a long time during the beta tests. some screens to come. ps: don't hesitate to put some comments in my reputation area if you like this mod ;-) cheers4 points

I will give it my best shot. JTAC will give you a UTM or Lat/Long coordinate during the 9 line, and if you have your SADL net settings correct, you will also get a data linked target identifier in your TAD (a red triangle). The following is based on JTAC giving you a UTM coordinate. Use a mission data card to get all the info on the UTM coordinate and the specific weapon, direction of attack, direction of egress and weapon requested. To make the UTM coordinate provided by JTAC into a waypoint do the following: Find a safe area to do a wide orbit. Set your autopilot to ALT and then make a left or right banking level turn and hold it. Then engage the autopilot and ensure it is holding the turn and you have no elevation conflicts around you. The UTM coordinates will be in the form of 2 letters and 6 numbers. Make sure your STEER PT switch on your AAP Panel is set to FLT PLAN. Set your right MFCD to the CDU repeater function. *NOTE: If your CDU is not on the WAYPOINT PAGE, then hit the WP key on the CDU, or FUNC 3 on the UFC. This will bring up the page where you can choose to select WAYPOINT by hitting OSB 7. You should now be on the WAYPOINT PAGE and ready to continue. Hit OSB 10 to switch from the default L/L (Lat/Long) to UTM. Hit OSB 9 to select the number presented next to the question mark as your new target waypoint. Using the CDU or the UFC, enter the 2 letters, and 6 numbers without spaces in the scratchpad. Hit OSB 16 to enter the UTM coordinate in to the computer. Verify the number entered is correct. Using the CDU or UFC keypad give your new waypoint a unique name eg: TGT A and hit OSB 7 to change the name. Now turn your STEER PT dial on the AAP from FLT PLAN to MISSION. Use the UFC STEER rocker or with the HUD as SOI, DMS UP to cycle thru the waypoints until you see the unique name you created for this target. Find your target waypoint symbol on the TAD and then use the steering cue's on the HUD to prosecute your attack. EDIT #1: I added the item in italics for anyone who has moved off the Waypoint Page in the CDU, and needs to know how to get back. EDIT #2: I created a Powerpoint Presentation outlining the steps covered in the post above, and added a few explanatory pictures. The UTM Data Entry Tutorial is provided in PDF format as an attachment below for you all to use. JTAC 9 LINE UTM COORDINATE ENTRY PROCEDURE 03-08-2011.pdf4 points

Since final release (and don't even go there with bugs, ctd's etc etc, there are other threads for that) I have been flying the sim everynight as much as I can. Trying out new stuff, reading the manual and trying to get to grips with the A10C. At first I didn't have a clue what I was doing, could take off and land without ATC as I couldn't work the radios. Then I figured out radios...well sort off. I can get ATC, I can talk to the JTAC and I can talk to my wingmen.....so for now that will do. Still loads to learn till I'm a ninja Rad Op. I then decided to get a startup checklist, tried a few, liked them, tried to make my own then found one by the paulkriii of the 25th FVS found here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1122275&postcount=9 An awesome checklist (that you would expect considering the job :music_whistling:) At first it took me about 25 minutes to go through the checklist up to Airborne.. but now I can have it done in less than 10! Haven't got to Egress yet as I am normally on the floor by then.....after a nice bit of freefall LOL By this time I was able to use the TGP and the Mav pages, OK to a limited degree, but I could get a target and get it SPI'd to the Mav page. I would then normally slew the cursor to try and get the Mav to lock until I found out today the TMS Forward Short would lock on and allow me to fire my Mav quicker, thus less chance of that freefall part. After starting online hosting flights just to practice and allow others to practice with real peeps, I then went on and tried another server with an AFAC (many thanks btw for the help and patience, really enjoyed the flight, although short!! and apologies I can't remember the name...think it's 161st Fire or something ). After sending me the Co-ords for my target I didn't have a clue how to find it. After 5 minutes of me flying in a straight line with no communication (still looking for my target ) the AFAC figured this out and told me to put it in the CDU as a waypoint, hey presto, I slewed the TGP, SPI'd, selcted Mav, couldn't lock on as I didn't know the TMS Forward Short at the time, switched to guns and then flew in, took a target out and got some freefall in at the same time!! Keep forgetting they shoot back LOL. As the title says, this sim just get's better and better. It does take some brain power and a steep learning curve, but even though I keep ending up with more ejections than landings...I still get the feeling of acheivement, just by learning how to do another task in the sim, the manual is a must, there a 669 pages for a reason...... ....The moral of the story, if at first you fail, try, try again!! Enjoy :joystick:3 points

I'm tired of hearing people complaining about "this is not a final version" ... and its full of bugs. Please tell me which other hardcore Sim you have used that only had one public release that was "final" with no bugs and no follow-up patches because the program was perfect at the time of release. This has yet to occur within the flight Sim community so I don't understand how people are acting so shocked and upset. How many patches were there for Falcon, IL2, LOMAC, FSX and dozens of others Sims that we've seen over the years? How many patches or hot-fixes are there for your operating system? This is a computer program so of course this is not a final version. Where are you getting this idea that this is "FINAL"? The press release is: DCS: A-10C Warthog Released! I read the whole realease statement and didn't see anything about this being FINAL. Sure there are a few bugs and I'm sure there will be a few patches in our near future. Chill out and give it more than two weeks for ED to gather the data, apply and test out the fixes. Until then try to enjoy some of the many things that do work well instead of focusing on the few things that don't... and this doesn’t only apply to flight Sims. :smilewink:3 points

Yup, and you know exactly how many and which versions were being created and tested. Your insight is astounding. I guess I should IP-check to see which other account you have that has access to the internal testing sections? ;) It's not about negative things. It's about negative things that are plain bullshit. That is when people get riled up. People making statements like the one I quoted you making up there, for example, require a level of insight far beyond what you have - yet you state it with such surety. Where did you get this information from? When people make shit up, other people who care about what the truth is get upset. Nothing strange. If you want to use the apple example, of COURSE Apple users would get upset if someone says "Apple makes crap quality products". It's just not true. They make superbly finished and high quality products. (People like me just don't like the pricetag, compare hardware/price of a MacBook Pro and an ASUS G17 for example, or a regular macbook and a G15.) Also, you need to realize what reality is for a software developer. It really is not an easy life to lead. Goes something like this: Men: developers Women: customers ;)2 points

On Station Version 5 (co-op and SP) Updated to version 5. This is the last major edit I am doing on this mission, aside from adding Ka-50s when we get them. Its time to move on to other, more interesting projects. :music_whistling: -When a new task is assigned only the new task info is part of a message. -Limited maximum concurrent tasks to 3 -More efficient handling of multiple messages. "Tusk, Standby for Sit Rep, Message 1 of 2" -When player count is above 4 players, tasks will automatically spawn more frequently -Added "F10" Radio Command to spawn a new task (if additional task spawns are allowed) -Message added for when all tasks are completed -Additional threat randomization -Doing a barrel roll no longer triggers messages. (It still might help to avoid enemy fire) -Implemented "Speeds 'Text Command Script'" (co-op version only) -Added Mission Rotation Trigger (For Servers-- Trigger is dormant unless edited) -Added Alternate Weather and Time Versions (co-op only) "Clear Night" "Foggy Sunrise" "Overcast" "Snowy Morning" Feel free to edit this mission however you like. If anyone wishes to add more task types to the scenario they are more than welcome to. If interest is shown I will write up a guide on how to do it. It's complex, but really not all that difficult. All I ask is that you keep the original credits to me and http://www.3sqn.com in place. Special thanks to Speed and his awesome lua scripting expertise. In the co-op version of the mission any player can type "getupdate" into chat. This in turn triggers the mission to send a message update to all players. The text is case sensitive. See first post for other details.2 points

Sorry guys. Rest assured that it is not at all complicated. The linked document is well worth a quick read. Fifteen minutes, and it will all come clear to you. If it doesn't, I'll instruct over MSN if need be - that's how confident I am in you really getting it. :) The world is divided into large grid zones. They're given a number from 1 to 60 based on their east-west position (longitude) and a character based on their north-south position (latitude). You can then give any coordinate as a combination of a grid zone and the distance east and north from the southwestern corner of that grid zone (it's really a bit more involved, but that's the general idea). 38T and two longish figures, for example. This is the UTM system. However, UTM is rather unwieldy to work with, especially if you are out in the field trying to call in arty support over the radio, or in an aircraft trying to communicate the position of a target or friendlies on the ground. To make it easier, the MGRS was introduced. Each grid zone is divided into a large number of 100.000 by 100.000 meter grid squares. These grid squares are given designators based on their north-south and east-west position within the grid zone, using one character for north-south and one character for east-west. AM, MM, DL etc. Now you can point out an arbitrary 100.000 by 100.000 meter square anywhere on the planet, using a designator such as 38T ME. From there, we just need to be able to designate a certain smaller square within that square, in order to point out targets. You do this just in the same way as you did within the grid zone using UTM, by measuring the distance east and then north of the southwestern corner of the grid square. As the square is 100 km across, you need two figures per coordinate (east/north) to give 1 km precision (0-99 km east/north of SW corner). If 10 km precision is enough (unlikely ;)), you only need one figure. The first ten km east/north of the SW corner is then 0, the next ten 1 etc. For pointing out targets, you will generally need to get down to ten meter squares. As there are 100.000/10 ten-meter squares to each side of the 100.000 m two-character grid squares, you then need four digits (0-9999) for the easting, and another four for the northing. For one meter precision, you need five digits. A full MGRS coordinate consists of the grid zone, grid square and finally the easting and the northing written together as one long string of digits. Frequently, the grid zone is omitted once it is assured that everyone else is using the same grid zone. 38T ME04586742 would mean a ten meter square (four digits for easting/northing respectively) within grid square ME in grid zone 38T. To find the position, you'd divide square ME into ten meter squares and find column 458 from the western side. Then you'd find row 6742 from the southern edge of square ME. In reality, there are supporting lines in the maps making finding these coordinates easy. You're really finding a point 4580 m to the east and 67420 meters to the north, and then you know the object for which the coordinate is given to be in the 10 by 10 m square to the NE of this point. Clear as mud? Didn't think so. Go read the PDF and look at the graphics. Told you it's worth it. :) Edit: Cleaned this up a bit and added a few explanatory graphics over here.2 points

See this post for an explanation (without the graphics). UTM and MGRS are not the same. MGRS is an overlay on UTM, making the coordinate format more manageable by dividing the large UTM grid zones into smaller, alphanumerically designated 100,000 m grid squares, thereby significally cutting down on the number of digits needed for a position reference over the radio and the potential for misunderstanding. You need to make sure that the double character grid square (e g WC, MM, DS) and grid zone designator (number plus character, e g 38T), are correct as well as the coordinates. I think JTAC typically omits the grid zone, just assuming everyone to be on the same page so to speak. Typically, you pre-brief which grid zone you're in (at least where I'm at) so it can be safely omitted unless you're operating right on the border between two grid zones and have different charts. But as Napoleon said, anything important in a war will happen between two chart sheets. Remember to truncate rather than round. Eg let us say that the MGRS for the dot following "Gusconade R" in the graphic is at approximately MGRS XC086397 (which is not quite true, as far as I can see, but it needs to be for the example to work). With lower, more realistic precision, it'd be XC0839, rather than XC0940. A grid point always means the referenced object is in the grid square east/north of the point. In the graphic, the point used could be described as, with decreasing precision, WC8081751205 WC80815020 WC808512 WC8051 WC85 The 0 in 067 can NOT be dropped. No way, never. DCS drops leading zeroes on the eastings. This is a bug, which always gives incorrect coordinates and which can give unusable coordinates if there are two leading zeroes. To use coordinates with leading zeroes dropped in the CDU, you need to reinsert the missing zero. Odd number of digits -> Assume missing leading zero. Double leading zeroes missing? You have no way of knowing something is amiss and you're basically screwed. Regardless of the number of digits, it's still a grid square. The number of digits determines the size of the grid square indicated, or the uncertainty in the position reference.2 points

You've fundamentally misunderstood the nature of the business & specifically this genre of product. Even in general terms... 1. You charge high for the first XYZ time period, to sweep up the "early adopters" and get their revenue (e.g. paid BETA). In marketing terms - INTRODUCTION 2. You acknowledge a small price reduction (5-10%) to attract interest and those people who have an aversion to "list price". GROWTH 3. Once the product sales start to slow, broad base marketing (like steam etc) to get casual/ad hoc sales etc, attempt to maintain MATURITY of product sales. 4. At the DECLINE stage a provider has the choice of further price reductions to eek out as much as they can from this product development, they can produce evolutionary enhancements to further profitise the original R&D, or move to another "product" to start the process again. Reducing unit cost will increase overall revenue, and therefore profit, but within 2 weeks of release is a little early. There are still plenty of early adopters to milk first, before necessitating a price reduction. Furthermore, if the patch and "pack" follows in a short enough time frame, can keep base product price as current etc. If you're so bothered about increasing revenue for ED then may I suggest... 1. Spend your time on other forums advocating how much you like DCS:WH...rather than waste your time on the ED forums on people who are already fans. 2. Buy many versions of the product, for your mates, as an incentive to get them started. You will therefore have contributed to EDs coffers. ack!1 point

They did know. Do you know how the USAF pilots were able to tell that the Iraqi MiGs knew? THose MiGs executed evasive maneuvers (Those piltos who knew what they were doing, there were those who were just flying straight to escape to Iran) when they were locked onto. One MiG-29 even got into position to launch on an F-15C, but (IIRC, and there I have no information) probably the TEWS prevented a launch. Finally, the MiG-29's in IRAQ almost always fought against equal or almost equal numbers of F-15's. Yes, there were others in place to pick up the fight if the first F-15's were shot down, but in general the engagements themselves saw equal numbers on both sides.1 point
