Hi Guys, Version 2.0 of the Ipadpit is available for download This version includes the following: • All MFD's and CDU displays are working. • The UFC is now directly reachable from the LeftMFD • An extra Activity is added with a landscape ipad view with 2 working MFD's and UFC • Some extra switches are added like the autopilot switches. There are two profiles included in this package. One for a Dual MFD and one for a Single MFD solution. You might choice to use one MFD to get a better in game cockpit FOV. Performances wise there is a difference also. It’s up to you with on you prefer. Read the doc's for the installation and configuration instructions. You can get it at the download link on my site www.ipadpit.nl Have fun.1 point

Have you ever asked yourself during flight how to reset hung store indication? Have you ever wondered why your GBUs wont drop when you pickle? Ever wondered where are your pilot log data files? Here is little tips&tricks document for your use...Print it as multiple pages per sheet (2*A5 format and use it in your own A5 kneepad)..Pictures later.. Feel free to post your own instructions here and if i have time i will add them to pdf document... Note: This is a collection of other people tutos, gathered in one document. Thanks to WarriorX and others whose great tutorials gave me an idea to create condensed tutorial. Note* Pdf file updated 05.07.2011 (corrected page allignement, added info about authors (kind of)). You know I am sorry about the Suffering in the war truly am. However I also agree that it is just terrain. Now that being said I too want an Afghanistan or Iraq map. And I am a Veteran of the war in Afghanistan.1 point

You can be a bit of a berk, Mower. Of course it's enlightening; primarily for those who still need to learn how to do this. When the head developer of the sim takes the time to make really well put-together tutorial videos, why bite the hand that feeds?1 point

Pretty much the same here. Wouldn't mind a carrier aircraft. Not many of those around. The best thing DCS could do is to create a proper dynamic campaign. Then it doesn't matter what aircraft it is. I'd buy it.1 point

Nice vid! Just one thing: you mention the HUD symbology changes when the airspeed drops below 50 knots. Since the Ka-50 uses the metric system, it's actually 50 kph. Yeah, you're right about that. But there are several ways to get out of it: Disengage autohover. The button is located on the cyclic, so that should be pretty fast. Emergency AP disengage, located on the cyclic as well. The downside is that with all the stability augmentation channels gone, the chopper behaves really differently, so depending on altitude and pilot training, this may get you killed just as well. Engage Flight Director, it overrides autohover. But in the real pit, the button is on the right panel, so this is not practical because with an incoming missile, there's only one reason to take the hand away from the cyclic: to start the UV-26 dispenser. Simply override the chopper's 20% authority and configure the systems once mortal danger has been escaped. Then again, there 's always the question why the chopper is in SAM range in the first place. We really want to avoid that. :-)1 point

So I guess we've all seen the debates about having dynamic vs scripted campaigns and missions. I started thinking about this at a lower level, how about if we could add some randomness to the scripted missions themselves and forget about the campaign for a moment. By randomness I'm specifically talking about AI units. I find that after I fly a mission a couple of times I pretty much know where all AAA, Armor, Manpads etc are, 2 Hinds from the south east, at the top of that hill etc. My idea is to make the missions themselves dynamic by adding randomness to AI group/unit properties and location. While I am sure there are still holes in this idea, some of the obvious ones are addressed in the bullet list of rules below. Please read them before you chew the idea to bits. Here are some of the rules that the mission randomizer must follow: The biggest underlying rule about my suggestion is that the FLOT or an AI/Enemy Zone must be respected. You don't want helicopters to be spawned over their enemy's airbase. You must keep vehicles out of buildings, water, heavily wooded areas etc. You must keep some vehicles in strategic areas, if they are part of the core of the mission. For example tanks defending a bridge shouldn't be moved away from the bridge. Some units obviously shouldn't be moved at all, for example a downed pilot you are rescuing, a bunker you have been assigned to destroy. The Randomizer: Fixed ground units would be moved to different places throughout the map. For example the AAA emplacement would be moved to a different location in the battle area. Manpads could be moved to the rooftops of different buildings etc. Tanks, APCs could also be moved as well. Aircraft becomes a bit more tricky, but again while respecting the FLOT you could deploy 3 Hinds one time, 2 Blacksharks the next time or perhaps 4 havocs another time. Perhaps then you could think about different altitudes as well. Adjusting their flight plans is outside of the scope of this. Units that are moving along a road are tricky since you can't exactly move the road that they are driving on, but you could move the AAA or SAM in a convoy to the 1st, 3rd or 8th position in the convoy. Perhaps adjust the speed or starting position. If they aren't key to the core of the mission perhaps have them only show up occasionally. Implementation So how would this work in implementation in the mission editor ? Fixed Ground Units - You would simply set the x/y location of a unit to be a randomized, then you would designate a zone using the mouse on the map within which the unit can be moved at random. This would work for AAA, Tanks, or Manpads. Aircraft - You could select Helicopters then set the model to be random. Then set the number of units to be random, with a max at some reasonable value. Moving units - You could set a presence value so the unit is only present 50% of the time or have them move slower or faster or start from further away. Obviously JTAC would need to be modified as well since, we are moving units around but I think this could be handled as well. While I don't for once second think that these changes to the current engine are small, I think they are possibly more achievable short to medium term than a dynamic campaign engine. I believe the benefits of adding some variety to the scripted missions would be huge. Would the benefits be enough to justify the development time though ? I'm sure you guys will answer that for me.1 point

As far as I know, the only way to achieve a full reload is to designate a button on one of the MFCDs to be a Load button. What I do is this: * Click and hold the MSG button on the right MFCD * Click the OSB next to Load * Click the MSG button again to redesignate that button as the Load button * Do your load * Reverse the above directions to set the button back to MSG If anyone knows a different way I'd be interested to learn.1 point

Mate, you should NEVER feel afraid to ask questions. Anyone who gives you a dumb ass reply is just that; a dumb ass :D. Besides, what are they going to do ban you for asking a simple question. Seriously, so what if they did, but I would find that highly unlikely. The beta testers who give you the smartass replies; well they're just beta testers and for the most part don't know anymore then we do, but some of them feel special I guess :) Not all of them, but some do :D A question means you're interested and I would hope as a business ED wants us to be interested :) I was hoping for an update on how Nevada is progessing and there's absolutely nothing wrong with asking. :) Just be polite :)1 point

Hmm, if no differences were made it either means that my guesses are wrong or the code that was pointed out by aaron886 is not the code that controls head movement by g-forces or the combination of both. Sorry Crunch, as I can't suggest anything else at the moment. It would be great if any of the ED team point us to the Lua code that does that if there is such code. Or ED could make it an adjustable option for DCS in future patch as Crunch has suggested :).1 point

Tyger has some great training videos on youtube check these out i watch them everyday http://www.youtube.com/user/Tigerpwrr Another thing that would be great in this sim would be if a observer could see the pilot in the cockpit and give him tips while he's flying, then you could see what he's doing right or wrong and give advice1 point

It is a hardware problem, one that is normally addressed by other manufacturers by supplying the stick with a calibration option in the drivers. The X65F drivers don't have that, only the Beta drivers, but these remove the Force Settings making them useless, and the development of these drivers seems dead anyway. This centering problem is less visible when using high force settings too. Get a login and password from BugMeNot to enter the Saitek forum, and see the sad state from lack of support.1 point

If you want, I can help you :) I can deploy all weapons with good results, though I'm not very proficient with the CDU yet.. Throw me a pm if you want. Also: Take Tyger's offer very VERY seriously! He is very good! Have you seen his instructional video's on youtube? Highly recommended for combat employement.1 point

You don't have to go thru TACAN, NAV and rest of the mumbo jumbo, those are there just to make the A10 look cool n fancy. What you really need to know is to take off, set the Arm switch to ON and press "M" couple of times untill you see the "GUNS" word in the middle of your HUD. :D1 point

I dunno about it being just Saitek. My first stick was a Logitech and it drifted far to the left and resetting it was the only way to fix it. I bought a new one of the same model and it started doing it right off. Almost every time I hear of a joystick of any make/model losing its center calibration, it's always been to the left. There was a time when the cursor on my desktop would slowly drift upwards without warning. Isolated it to the ministick on my X52. I had to move the ministick to get it stop moving my desktop cursor. Was annoying as heck! By circumstance, I was going to be reformatting my system around that time, so I decided to see what impact that would have. I haven't had the problem since....and that was several years ago. Sometimes, I think these issues are not faulty hardware, but a miscommunication between the device drivers, the USB firmware, USB Drivers, and the OS itself. The manufacturers of the hardware rarely make the USB firmware from scratch. They usually use an SDK released by the component's manufacturer as a starting point. Such issues can the fault of the joystick manufacturer. It could also very well be a problem with the firmware SDK or a problem within the OS architecture itself and out of the hands of the joystsick manufacturer. We may never though....1 point

I have an x65 cavedog... First open up the Saitek control panel (lets you tune the stick, NOT the programming software). In there you can see if the stick is off center or is "floating". If the center is a little bit off (which they all are pretty much), then put in a small amount of deadzone to cover the offset. Dont try to do this in the sim's axis controls... you want to do this in the saitek control panel. If this isnt it, then your plane just needs trimming... they do tend to want to roll left or right after takeoff, and its very pronounced when loaded with ordinance.1 point

Your problem is not with DCS-A10C, I think your are dealing with a know bug with the X-65F, here check out their forum and read the history on this problem http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=194681 point

What exactly do you mean by "calibrate to the centre"? Is your stick not centered in the simulator or are you experiencing issues with trim? Have you ensured that ForceFeedBack is disabled in the options screen of the simulator? (Under Misc)1 point

I'm using the same as you. Are you guys running in sim mode or game mode? Since the key mappings are different. Otherwise I'm at loss. I can see the modifiers in the controls screen and they work here. Perhaps try to reset the mappings and load again?1 point

Excellent post, Effte. Thank you for the detailed explanation. It's a shame the HOTAS Warthog isn't Force Feedback, as it would make for a more accurate while trimming (though it wouldn't be as much of an advantage as it is in Black Shark). Itkovian1 point

Hi same problem here (gtx460) but I've found a workaround. When the labels go away I go up a click with the console light dial and the labels come back! I hope that works for you and helps the DSC team to solve the problem. Andrea1 point
