  1. We all know why time acceleration is sometimes useful, but smacking the 'Time normal' button when a radio communication occurs requires some effort, and occasionally misses some important message. Requesting an option to automatically return time to normal speed when radio or communication messages occur.

  2. I think you're talking about Mission 1. I found that part confusing as well, only sure of the Mode 3/A four digit code.
  3. UI text often appears misaligned vertically. The effect sometimes looks more pronounced at different scales, but does appear to be present at all scales. I've copied some screen captures and images and added some single pixel red lines to highlight the misalignment. Interestingly, this new Voice Chat guide shows the same issue in its screenshots: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/upload/medialibrary/30a/k3o2gik7dkxf2qpk2fram6igpp8egac0/DCS_Voice_Chat_Quick_Start.pdf While this issue does not affect game play significantly, it is ugly and decreases text readability. The issue has been around for years. I could not find it reported already in this forum with a quick search.
  4. Thanks for the response! Glad I'm not alone.
  5. Just trialing the Spitfire and setting up input bindings. Many of the names are classic or identifiable, but quite a number look like Input.SpitfireLFMkIX.trim_elevator_minus Input.SpitfireLFMkIX.uc rather than the expected Trim Elevator Up and Landing Gear Up/Down or similar Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the installation?
  6. I zoom all the time, so map 2 directions on the HAT switch most accessible to my thumb on throttle. Somewhat wastes a HAT, but since zoom is so critical, particularly since my head tracker does not have position control, it's worth it. I use another HAT entirely for shifting my head position, side to side and up and down. Same reason, but used less than zoom.
  7. That is correct. While having a 4K monitor, I run most games at 1440p except perhaps older ones that can handle 4K. The same monitor is for work and play, so 4K does help with apps. for games, 1440p scales very well, so non native 1440p is not missed. As mentioned my goal was to improve image quality while minimizing performance impact. I do have a head tracker, but it isn't 6D, and even so, I don't want to have to 'lean in' to read gauges. ...And please share your system spec sometime, native 4K @ 80 FPS is very impressive.
  8. Just tried this myself. Visual results good, but noticeable performance decrease. Testing with UH1-Huey flying Persian Gulf instant mission City Tour. Base line 2560x1440, MSAA 2x = 78 FPS 4K with NIS 67% (2560x1440 etc.) = 63 FPS Visual result: Superb 4K with NIS 59% (2259x1271 etc.) = 76 FPS Visual result: Acceptable 4K with NIS 50% (1920x1080 etc.) = 91 FPS Visual result: Poor (Also note scaling off had near identical FPS, so scaling was effectively free) 4K native (No scaling) (3840x2160 etc. = 47 FPS (Too slow for normal use, here for comparison, image quality excellent) The up-scaling from 1440p to 4K really does look great, noticeably better than monitor or naive scaling. But the performance cost is 15-20% The unusual new resolution of 1271p is a strange compromise. Performance is now very similar but image quality at 4K is not greatly improved, just a little smoother. I was paying attention to reading steam gauges in the cockpit without zooming in. Didn't use the driver capture to compare but did take some snaps with phone. The 1080p upscaling was not worthwhile in my opinion. The visual quality, while smoothed, was below that of 1440p, defeating my goal of reading gauges without zooming in. One more observation: NIS can only be Disabled per game/app, not Enabled. That is, you must first enable Globally before enabling or disabling per game, which means it is on by default once enabled. This is not desirable to me due to potential performance issues but may be necessary due to implementation and cooperation with OS. System: Intel i9-10900KF Geforce RTX 2080 Super
  9. The Huey does not appear to honor the Unlimited Fuel option. Repro: Enable Game setting Unlimited Fuel Start Instant Action -> Caucasus -> Harbor Flight Observe fuel gauge Accelerate time, watch fuel gauge decrease to empty, then engine will shutdown Beta v2.7.7.14727
  10. It appears the v2.7 clouds are too low and thick for this mission. While this mission does not require the player to land on the carrier to succeed, but I don't think clouds were intended this way. Compare to a video from last year, where the low clouds are sparse: DCS F/A-18c - Hornet 1989 Campaign - Mission 4 - Fighter Sweep
  11. I had a quick attempt at aligning the two images. The rail line, major water ways and major urban areas somewhat match. Finer details are missing. I'm not sure what more should be expected for a map of this type and price.
  12. I thought the same until I played Baltic Dragon's Red Flag for Mirage 2000. Now I'm looking forward to more!
  13. I bought both and enjoyed both. I enjoyed Charnwood more, with more focus on ground attack and not too long distances to fly without action or war atmosphere. I recall Bodney had many flights crossing the channel fore and back, and quite a few missions were bomber escort. They both had relaxed mission success requirements so you could do as much or as little as you liked, and determine your own level of success to repeat or continue. Which was reasonable, since in real life not all missions resulted in great success as far as bombs on target, enemy aircraft shot down, or patrols encountering enemy at all. Charnwood may more replay-ability in that it's set up like a war is going on, and you participate how you please, as there are secondary objectives and opportunities. These campaigns are not like the story and spoken dialog heavy Baltic Dragon campaigns (which I love), they are a different style but do feel somewhat atmospheric. For reference, the only WW2 I have is P51 + Normandy + these two campaigns.
  14. Change log says this is fixed in DCS 2.7.5.10869 Open Beta After downloading the patch, the impenetrable clouds are still present same as before.
  15. For me last flight, it was the landing gear. It did not fully retract. Seems to have been damaged on take off. Made a repeated dull beep sound but with no warning lights except landing gear lever light remaining lit.
  16. Finished the campaign and wanted to post some feedback. I bought the campaign because it said Baltic Dragon on the box. When I opened the box, it said best enjoyed with a book of the same name. So I bought the e-book. This turned out to be a good choice as I enjoyed the book a lot and progressed through book and game together. I enjoyed the campaign a lot, but I must admit I enjoyed Enemy Within 3.0 more, which I played not long before it. I think I just enjoyed the banter or something that gave it slightly more atmosphere. So thank you Baltic Dragon and large supporting crew. Keep em coming! I always appreciate that you avoid compulsory air to air refueling for us noobs and ones with sub-par hardware. I also appreciate you not disabling assistances unless they are critical. Now for some errata: Mission 3 * Mission 3B - Exon55 is named Arcol1-1 in game * When Smoke asked to attack moving vehicle (3rd/final target) via F10 He responds 'coming in' (or whatever), then does nothing. Mission 10 * No radio chatter until well into the flight (unlike youtube of others playing) (Reported in another post, 100% repro) * Data link doesn't show wingmen and without afterburners or lights friends are near invisible even with goggles. Mission 11 * Page 6 says Weapons AIM-154C instead of AGM-154C * Missed first radio check I think due to Auto-Start taking too long to tune radios. Mission 13 * During mission: Radio: "Press SPACE BAR when you are tally on target - Sapphire (Waypoint 5)" Sapphire is Waypoint 4 not 5. Misson 14 * Knee Card says Laser code 1689. That code can't be entered, only 168, the 9 won't enter. I used code 1688 instead and this worked. Mission 15 * After AAR, message says "Rejoin with Anvil 13, Press SPACE BAR to clear message" As I approached Anvil 13, he ejected and crashed into the sea ~12 miles off the coast.
  17. For new and casual players, the instant missions are essential. Remember how complex the mission editor looked when you first tried it? Compare that to a single click to start a mission. Merely spawning a hot started jet on ground and in air for each terrain is a help to new players.
  18. This time I chose spectate and joined late as prompted. Made no difference, still no radio comms. Easy Comms are off (always off since playing BD's campaigns!) Tested from Mission Editor. Previous tests (and first play) I did not do the spectator sequence. The document says to try that if game performs poorly. Game is running fine and fast, so I didn't consider it. Previous test (before this one), the first radio message I heard may have been 'Switch Strike'.
  19. Thanks BD, and I wish I'd known about the TACAN earlier. EDIT: Just tried loading the mission via Editor: No comms at start again. EDIT: On reading more, it looks like I can only get range information via TACAN, so not as useful as I'd hoped. The TACAN keeps spinning as if not located beacon but the range on HUD appears to be correct.
  20. I've been bolting lots lately. Previously only when I was clearly off the wires. Wondering the same.
  21. Came here to check on feature status after a campaign night take off where I could barely see the deck crew in the dark. I don't believe we're supposed to use our landing / taxi lights.
  22. Played Mission 10 today. I too noticed no comms or radio check at start of mission. First radio message was Cajun calling me to formation. I went to YouTube to see RedKite's start and saw lots of radio check and mission start dialogue. I could have done something wrong, but came here to see if anyone else had the same. Also got a call during egress 'Contact Knight for AAR <Press Space>'. I could not see Knight on the radio preset list. That was followed by 'Flip: We have enough fuel to head straight to Mother'. Additionally, I tried to configure TACAN to Cajun's 50X AA setting but never got a lock so ended up using F10 map to find him.
  23. Thanks I was missing the TDC Depress while slewing. And as others said earlier, TGP must be completely unlocked at the time.
  24. Anyone have some up-to-date steps to share? I can get TGP -> Mav. If Mav is not locked, Mav FOV can cycle. If Mav is not locked TGP -> Mav every time SOI is set, otherwise uncage -> cage resets Mav on TGP target. Undesignate on TGP always resets to bore sight. Undesignate on Mav unlocks TGP on 1st press, TGP to bore sight on 2nd press. Mav is unchanged though SOI. I have not been able to steer Mav via TDC.
  25. @Foka Did you try changing the contrast and get better results? I just flew a campaign mission and had the same issue. Both FLIR on TV or IR, white hot or black, the enemy ship was invisible. When wing man hit it and it started burning, I could see smoke but not the ship on TGP or MAV. I remembered this forum thread but forgot to try changing contrast manually. Same situation though, Night + FLIR (and Mav) + Sea.
