  1. Sorry, not running the Index anymore, those numbers are for a Crystal Light and I'm still tweaking it. I guess I need to update my signature.
  2. So I'm running a 5000X3D and without any FFR/Quad Views, my GPU frame times are in the mid to low 20's while my CPU frame times are in the mid teens. Once I run Quad Views my GPU frame times and CPU frame times even out in the mid to high teens. I'm running my DCS settings pretty much maxed out so my FPS averages around 60fps to 72fps and on some of the more graphically challenging sections down low of cities my fps will drop into the 40's. I could tweak my setting and get even better performance, but I like to fly low so I need to squeeze as much eye candy as I can out of the terrain.
  3. I've been using Quad Views which is basically a version of FFR and I have to say after some time on the HMD, all is working as expected and FFR (Quad Views) is helping improve performance as advertised.
  4. Just a quick update, and first impression. Some background. I'm come from using a Valve Index, so no eye tracking or ffr/dfr. 5800x3d & 4090. My initial impression is very positive. The visuals are a solid improvement over the Index and definitely an upgrade to color, blacks, and clarity. As far as comfort, I have to say that initially I found the Crystal Light uncomfortable, but the more time I spend in the HMD the better it feels. The Index was/is more comfortable and for me a better fit. I will continue to make adjustments and see if things improve. Now the biggest question I have in regards to if I will keep it or not. FFR and no DFR/eye tracking. For most non-DCS titles, performance and quality have been great, but DCS calls for more tweaking. I've been learning the ins and outs of FFR using Quad Views. FFR/Quad Views definitely improves performance, but I keep moving my eyes before I move my head and the lower resolution outside the FFR sweet spot is very noticeable and a tad distracting. This is why I really wish Pimax had considered an Crystal Light+eye tracking version. I have to say I am impressed, if not totally sold yet. I need more seat time to workout the rest of the quirks before I decide to keep or not. If there was eye tracking it would be a no-brainer. More to come... (Edit for spelling)
  5. I should get mine later today, but I'll only be able to spend any real time later Sunday.
  6. I took advantage of that offer, should have the headset tomorrow afternoon. @Maddaawg When you look further into it you'll find it is a full refund ans long as within the 15 days and not damaged. They also state they will pay return shipping.
  7. Virginia Military Aviation museum is an awesome place. I'll just add these.
  8. So a friend of mine recently sent me a video by Spudknocker that proposes a simple fix for stutter in DCS 2.9 related to Windows Defender. I'll link it below. Just for the record I have tried what he suggests and there appears to be improvements in game/stutter. The TLDR for the video is to make some scan exemptions for Windows Defender related to DCS. I also included an exception for my Steam folder because I have an Index and wanted to include SteamVR in his solution. As always YMMV.
  9. This a nice guide to reposition you position in the cockpit. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/138434-boxxmanns-tips-adjust-seateyepoint-with-vr
  10. Try this out to set you default seating positions. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/138434-boxxmanns-tips-adjust-seateyepoint-with-vr
  11. Rest in peace, Don.
  12. Just throwing in my input here as well. After a bunch of testing and multiple setting changes and iterations of settings (with restarting the sim in between each time). I've decide to stick with MSAA. I was seeing a mild performance increase using DLAA, but the image quality was much worse. Overall less clear , even with Sharpening, and a good deal of stuttering, especially down low over terrain.
  13. Hey Don, We only responded back and forth a few time, but your presence here and on the other sim forums has always been a positive influence. I am not exaggerating when I say that you are one of the few people who I will look to see what you have posted. I'll miss that. Be strong. I will keep you in my thoughts and pray for you.
  14. From the patch notes: Improved “spotting dots” added (WIP): Increased dot size at high resolutions Zoom is not affecting dots size In order to disable new “spotting dots” and revert to previous logic user can put “DotRendererExperiment = False” in autoexec.cfg file located in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\
  15. I'm still using my Index, so I played around with it a bit. Looks slick, the UI changes are very nice. Performance-wise it's hard to tell if the update helped improve anything or if just placebo effect. There were updates listed to OpenXR on the last SteamVR patch. I feel like Multi-thread performance improved. Less stutters and pauses loading and in game. Over all the last update looks and feels better. I'm also hoping this is the lead-in for a new Valve HMD announcement.
  16. Just watched it as well. So tempting, but rumor mill keeps hinting at an imminent Valve reveal. I'm going to wait a bit longer.
  17. Signed up...can't hurt. Thanks for the heads up.
  18. I am waiting to see what Valve will do next. Still rocking an Index, and I've been super happy with it, but it is starting to show it's age.
  19. Thanks. That's what I figured, but wanted to be sure.
  20. This looks great. I'm an Index user and just wondering if this is working with OpenXR in SteamVR or is it only working with OpenVR in SteamVR?
  21. Made a mistake taking the poll. Accidentally clicked OpenXR when I should have picked SteamVR OpenXR. I'm an Index user.
  22. Thank uou got taking the time to respond to thus thread. Please take a look at this thread with all of the other pilots as well.
  23. I too was a bit baffled when I went looking for it and found it moved again.
  24. Make sure you are logged into your account and it will see if you own Normandy 1.0 and/or Channel.
