  1. Agreed. I also agree that some of the mad missions themselves were good. I'd probably actually preferred them as such. I kind of felt disappointed to put in the effort to read all the dialogue in MAD. I don't mind reading, it can definitely add to the experience with a good story, but the more I read, the less sense the story seemed to make. In fairness, the missions were not half bad, just seemed like I wasted my time with the story. Anyway, I don't want to <profanity> on the campaign too much. It always sounds worse in type than it actually was.
  2. Maybe we can get this prioritized right under 'Sky is Falling'
  3. For the record, same procedure is no procedure if you've been here long enough.
  4. Maybe they are wildly different. Its possible the dev built it for the gaz and just kind of added the Huey but I didn't like it all. Thats being nice. I found the story disconnected and mission to mission I didn't feel like the same pilot. It felt random and thrown together with too much emphasis on hand holding the player with military terms. Voice acting sounded forced. The missions themselves were good at times, but I had zero idea why I was doing anything moment to moment. It just seemed like a bunch of random missions.
  5. Because it has been done before does not add or take away from the validity of the argument, that is a fallacy. Maybe for that exact reason (they did this before and it didn't work) they chose not to do it again. Again, this is a possibility of a hypothetical, not my opinion or argument. Not sure why we are arguing over either of these things though ignoring the spirit of the original post. If anything is to be discussed, its that. People have jumped off bridges in the past. This does not make that idea more or less valid. Again though, if that comment is your focus, you missed the point. I specifically stated "one could argue". This wasn't meant to be an argument. You can pick at specifics in the post, but the post had a very specific theme which you've missed completely. Nowhere am I arguing that they shouldn't add this section. So none of these comments are arguments against that.
  6. Also, I think this has gotten a little out of hand: The idea was to state: Hey dude, that's not fair has somehow got misconstrued I believe. All other statements were essentially insights into how its possible that reality is different to one might perceive it. Somehow those statements became my opinion on why ED shouldn't do this. @Rudel_chw If you took it any other way I apologize.
  7. Jump into a "familiarization" of the area mission in Mission 1 and the wingman keeps saying look below us and you'll see .... Except all I see is clouds. Maybe for this mission (even though I think they look great) we should have a clearer day.
  8. I never said or implied they did, so the premise of your answer is based on something I did not say. I just didn't feel like getting into the weeds on a secondary argument that I didn't mention. "Working in IT" is as broad as working in an office nowadays, But regardless of my or your experience or expertise (both of which are irrelevant), unless you work at ED I'm guessing you have as much insight into the challenges of completing this request as I do, which is zero. In this context, I stick with the premise of my original post on the matter which was based on: Is not fair to an individual you do not know about a process you know nothing about. I have yet to see a PHP Table in my long career (and I've been working with it (not exclusively) since its inception) which affords me enough insight into the comment to know the commentor doesn't have the appropriate insight to make such a comment. Again, no one is arguing that this shouldn't be added.
  9. You didn't understand what I was saying about the user files section at all, but that is besides the point. Most of my mentions are potentials... not my opinion... I'm just saying these are possibilities and not to characterize someone you don't know about a topic you are a layman on. Taking any one of my points as my specific argument means you missed the point a bit. Its very possible the "web admin" for this site is not his/her primary function at ED or has volunteer elements to it... again, possibility. This should be on ED where these comments might be better directed than to someone you don't know. No one is arguing for this not to get done.
  10. For the record, I don't disagree. I just disagree with your characterization of their IT guy which I feel is totally unfair (as one myself for 30 years). The Mirage is also early access and as a developer by trade one could argue that a User Section shouldn't be added until it was a full release as the structure and their systems are more likely to change more rapidly then when fully released, potentially breaking any added user files more easily than at a later date. Always to sides to a coin. How hard this task could be depends on a lot to do with how legacy the system is and how it was built. Many of these systems are built quickly to fill a need with little thought (or lots of thought) but little time and resources available to develop them in such a way that allows easy management. If a tool like the User section needs to be developed it might take 5 times as long to develop a user interface to manage it nicely compared to rapidly developing a working section. A busy developer can take path 1 very easily when things are busy... put fire A out today rather than considering all the potential future fires.
  11. For some additional information, how many aircraft have made the Aircraft 1 slot with finished campaigns? (over a period of > not sure exactly but I've been simming for 30 years and I believe the first ED product (was it even ED back then?) was LOMAC for me)) Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2 and LOMAC something or another (can't remember exact titles without looking them up) If I remember correctly it was the su-25 and the A-10's I was flying. Su-25T A-10C P-51 P-47 Huey and now FC3 F-15 How many aircraft have made slot 2 (learning all the systems and completing training missions) but never got to slot 1? F-18 F-86 BS2 Ka-50 Mosquito Spitfire Whats going to fill the Aircraft 2 slot after the FC3 F-15 Hopefully the full fidelity F-15 or BS2 then BS3 or F-86
  12. I own almost all the modules. I "fly" all of them, but I believe the spirit of the OP's question is a little different so I'll assume that and answer less technically. I usually end my sessions with a half dozen very quick (sometimes minutes) free flight of whatever I feel like checking out which is usually something I haven't flown in a while. This is how I cycle through flying all the aircraft. That being said, I only really fly 1 or 2 airframes at a time depending how you look at it. I like to pick an airframe like the Huey which I just finished up and do a deep dive on its systems and how to use them to get proficient in using them quickly and piloting the airframe. This will include doing all the training missions if included. Then I move to the campaigns. In the Huey instance, I completed three (UN, MAD and Paradise Lost < (PL WOW BTW)). I've been playing DCS since the first LOMAC and have never played MP. I'd like to jump in the Huey on enigma but I'm unsure where to start (communicating via SRS and objectives etc..) so I'll probably just move on. While I'm flying the Huey or Aircraft 1 campaigns, I start learning the systems of a second airframe, usually through that airframes Training Missions, or youtube if none exist. I started the BS2 which I thought was my next airframe so as to stick with Helos, but then moved to the F-86 as I wanted to stick with a campaign by reflected as Paradise Lost was so awesome. I've more recently just finished all the Huey campaigns I have and moved to the FC3 F-15. I bough FC3 when it was released and never once played any of the content so I figured why not jump into the F-15 in anticipation of the release of the F-15. With BS3 on the way, maybe I should have stuck with BS2. I'm about to start the F-15 Bear trap campaign and will pick another airframe as my learning platform once I do. I play 1 or 2 campaign missions and end the night with a training mission followed up with some youtube videos that surround the context of that training. Most of my modules get no use in the Aircraft 1 and 2 scenario above but I'm a sucker for DCS Content. If a new module is released, I'll buy it day 2. Day 1 usually consists of me saying to myself "Why buy this now, I may not even fly it for years (outside of free flight)), just wait for the sale." Day 2 usually consists of me thinking about nothing but that new aircraft at work and watching youtube videos of other people flying it and having more fun than they've ever had in their life doing anything else at which point I say "who am I kidding, I won't last a week" and click purchase now while counting down the hours to go home and download it. (This happened most recently with South Atlantic map... come on, its not finished or efficient, there are no campaigns and people don't like it.... Day 2: Buy Now) Especially with the release of so many modules so quickly from DCS (ok, quickly is relative to how long it takes to really be proficient with an existing system), I doubt I'll ever play all the modules, but I'm a sucker for DCS content. The only thing I know for sure is that DCS has a lot of my past, current and future earnings. Also, if a war breaks out in my Country (Canada), and I happen to find a Russian Ka-50 lying around (uh-huh), I will have enough confidence to jump in and start her up to join the war effort while in reality probably exterminating myself and the airframe very quickly. So depending on how you look at it the answer to the OP's question is All or 2 or 1 Happy flying.
  13. Oh my, Cobra on Marianas (or Vietnam... come on ED), that would be awesome.
  14. I'm guessing your assumption is that most IT guys sit around watching youtube videos until they finally get a request to do something instead of being inundated with potentially hundreds of "easy" requests that are of little priority compared to the larger scoped projects and fires that exist daily. Sometimes the small "easy to do" items are easiest to bump. "php table" is enough for me to know how much you know about this process. I feel you "IT guy". Most likely if we B@#$% enough he'll stay later one night and get it done.
  15. Can we get a highly detailed Crimea bridge please.... oh, never mind.
  16. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. forgot about the skyraider announcement.... perfect. Just envision a paradise lost style campaign with a fixed wing instead of all the BVR stuff. I love the in your face or as I remember from one of your videos, seeing the terror in the squirrels eyes kind of stuff.
  17. One of the things I loved so much about Paradise Lost was how personal and in the mud you fealt with the combat moments. It got me thinking about all the support aircraft in the vietnam war (fixed wing) and although I realize we don't have any official modules for DCS that fit this category, I stumbled across the Bronco recently and was thinking, wow, this would be the perfect aircraft for a paradise lost style campaign. Support roles, close and dirty, flying low and listening to transmissions on the ground and responding to ground requests for support. Anyway, I know this opens up a whole can of worms from people who think its strange to offer a paid campaign for a free module but from a business perspective wonder if it might be an opportunity to introduce people to reflected simulations that might not otherwise understand how good well written campaigns really are. You may even be able to have missions 1-3 free with 4-14 etc... paid as a continuation of the campaign. I also realize there may be other roadblocks with this and ED, but I figured I'd just throw it out there. I own all the modules and have no expectations from developers or have any problem paying for quality work. I'm a developer myself (manufacturing software, not games) and understand the work that goes into this. My extent of DCS work is a steam deck profile for the F-14 that has moving guages etc... Had 100's of hours into this with zero return. Really hope your are doing well with your campaigns and wish you all the success. I bought all your campaigns if for no other reason to support your development of future ones. So far I've only played BNBOB and paradise lost of yours but look forward to my next adventure. Now I just need to decide if I'm flying a WWII bird or F-86 next.
  18. It is an epic shot though.... one of the more memorable moments I've had in DCS... The slideshow also allows you to take nice pictures with your phone for a moment. Hoping Vulkan multi-threading will fix this. If it does, its the first mission I will re-visit.
  19. First of all, glowing fan of the campaign. Must buy even for non Huey pilots. I'm a fixed wing pilot myself but learned to love the Huey. This campaign was some of the best time I've spent in DCS hands down. Not surprisingly the second best time I had was with blue nose p-51. I didn't run into any issues at all with scripting or anything else like that during my entire playthrough. Any smaller issue I might of had was always user error. (wrong radio etc.) If I remember back to Mission 1 if I could make a suggestion would be to make these things more clear. I think I remember being confused about the two different options for comms. I kept pressing the \ comms menu instead of the other one. Once I figured that out I was fine. Other than that, the only hiccups I experienced at all was my wingman doing some stupid stuff. I realize that isn't necessarily a campaign creators fault as he depends on the AI from DCS Both Mission 11 and 12 Had my wingman flying into the ground when we were not in battle. I remember in Mission 11 after taking off from the Hospital (for the third time, key here is into the wind and full throttle that bitch for a second or two). I guess my wingman couldn't make it and hit the trees heading East to RTB. At least he was close to a hospital. So honestly, really no bugs that I experienced in the entire playthrough.
  20. Same issue. Developer set us up for disappointment by only including 12 missions. From a moral perspective its very dirty. Paradise Lost should be at least 100 missions, and include the spotify playlist music rights. Of course, the campaign might cost $1,000, but after the first 12 I might consider it.
  21. I played (in general play) Training missions first (can't remember if huey had them but if it doesn't I go on youtube and learn first) As far as campaigns, I can remember the order: I played UN missions first (I recommend this until you are proficient as they are not that difficult. I don't regret playing them, they're fun) Then I played MAD. I don't regret playing this campaign either as it showed me that not all campaigns on ED's store are created equally. In fact, I lost a bit of faith in campaigns at all after this one. I'll leave it at that. Then Paradise Lost. This campaign restored my faith in DCS campaigns and taught me one important lesson. Buy the campaigns from campaign developers who can build good campaigns. Reflected is one of them. Restored my faith in DCS campaigns. That being said, I wouldn't start with this campaign if you have no experience with helos. It is the best huey campaign though. Enjoyed every minute of it, sad when it was done.
  22. I played this entire campaign in VR (oc'd 20% 5900x, nvme, 3090) Yes, Marianas map at low level is a bit of a bitch compared to others. In fact, I use the Huey Marianas free flight to setup DCS as my goto "does this setting give me more or less fps" In general, when you start the free flight, take off and immediately fly right towards the ships/crane. I fly under the crane and measure my performance at that point. My current setup gives me 40fps at the crane (All high, Extreme visibility, 4xMSAA, tree detail is like 0.2 but visibility is extreme, building detail is like 0.6) I'm running OpenXR with FOV rendering and upscaling (<Game changer btw). For comparison, in a fixed wing aircraft same settings on Caucus for instance I'll get 60-90 fps depending on aircraft and if I'm near a city, usually averages around 75 fps (almost double Marianas) That being said, there were a few moments (getting shelled at fob berlin is the first time it happened I think) that dip low enough that my VR goes black. This surprised me as I was re-arming and trying to take off when it happened from berlin in a heavy huey... lets just say that didn't go well. What most people forget and what happened here is that even though I'm setup to get around 40fps on Marianas, I'm not testing when bombs are falling and events are being triggered. DCS in general and my setup specifically are CPU limited. The 3090 is at low 60ish% utilization on Marianas during the huey test while my CPU is missing targets while flying under the crane. The problem with being CPU limited is that when a campaign (or multiplayer server) has to calculate dynamic actions or events and draw more animations and vertices etc... (bombs falling, actions happening, Valkyries riding etc...) and you are already hitting limits, frames start dropping This is why contrary to the belief that ED needs to make the game more GPU efficient, with the release of ever increasing graphics power available, Vulkan and Multi-Threading is infinitely more important. and most likely why you seem to only be having a problem while in a campaign, or this campaign. The events that are happening are pushing your CPU over the edge. Now, the campaign creator could remove those events to prevent this from happening, but I didn't find this campaign particularly event happy (nodding at one of your WWII campaigns, blue nose i think with 4 million bombers, I digress... also not complaining, that shot was epic) back to removing events..... he could remove those events, but then it wouldn't be a campaign would it... it would just be free flight on Marianas map. What really needs to be done if you want a great experience is to tune your setup to have a 20-40% headroom (depending on the campaign) to allow for the extra stuff that is about to happen. Of course, then you are wasting that headroom for general play which isn't ideal, so you might want to lower more CPU intesive tasks during campaign play only.
  23. tbh, I didn't learn anything about this campaign other than it continues a story about a campaign I haven't played. Played 3 Huey campaigns to completion (UN/MAD/Par.Lost) and do enjoy Huey campaigns, but I'd focus a trailer more about what your campaign has to offer and what the story is about. Just my 2 cents.
  24. I'm surprised to hear the 4090 results are so high. I'm currently CPU limited on a 3090 so figured it wouldn't make a difference. fps comparisons are difficult between people as the test map I use for seeing differences in fps (marianas in Huey on a specific course, when I get to the crane I measure performance) is 40 fps with extreme visibility and high settings with 4X msaa (this is well over 70-90 fps in fixed wing aircraft on other maps. That being said, I see little (some but little) difference between some of these settings as I'm currently CPU limited on a watercooled 20% Overclocked 5900X. 3090 is usually sitting around 60% utilization while CPU is missing targets. Would be interesting to see a 4090 on my exact setup before upgrading CPU to see if it makes a difference but the next setup will probably be a 13'th gen Intel to help with this. This IMO is why Vulk./Multi-threading is so important. I recognize many are limited by their graphics card, but I ran DCS in 2d on a 1070ti with head tracking in 4k very happily. One can't expect miracles from lower end hardware from their software. If you are on modern/new hardware, you are most likely CPU bound and as these graphics cards are getting exponentially faster, being CPU bound will be a larger and larger problem with people moving forward. I believe ED has chosen the correct item to address at the moment IMHO.
  25. Hey, Nothing to report, just wanted to say thanks for the missions. They're well done and I appreciate them. Own most of the modules and usually have focused more on high fidelity, but I've owned FC3 since it was released and have never played them at all. Figured I'd go back and have a look at the F-15 to familiarize myself with her before the release I think you've done a great job on these.
