Where is the JF-17 official manual? I can only find a chuck's guide.
Iron Sights replied to Napillo's topic in JF-17 Thunder
So has the manual been completed? -
New to the M-2000. Could someone explain the items in the Special Menu
Iron Sights replied to sobe's topic in M-2000
The elastic limiter is on the fly by wire system. I believe this controls how much realism you want on this system. -
fixed ILS Self Test - Needles move to incorrect position.
Iron Sights replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Bugs and Problems
All I could find points to you being correct. HG should be high left and BD should be low right on the test switch based on the explanations I found. I believe the Mirage 2000 has similar switch. It might be worth checking it to see if that is correct. -
Thanks for the help all. I guess that’s why I couldn’t nail down what block it was. I’ve been flying it for about two weeks, just because it’s different.

fixed ILS Self Test - Needles move to incorrect position.
Iron Sights replied to Rudel_chw's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just to clarify, is this the test button on the ILS panel or is it the IDN test? I’ve been trying to help figure this out, but just wanted to be sure I’m looking at the right test. -
Radar Tilt Question - Relative to plane or relative to horizon?
Iron Sights replied to Kobymaru's topic in MiG-21Bis
As stated earlier, ground clutter will mask contacts. Best MiG tactic is fly lower and try to grab a lock from below or abeam to your target. There are some filters on the radar, but it does very little for look down locking. -
Where on the HUD are wingtip missiles aimed at?
Iron Sights replied to Archi's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
I use the piper and then use lead to help with the solution. Depends on the missile and the aspect. There is no radar queuing for the fox 2’s that I have seen. Growling tune is the only queue I know of now. Maybe later. -
The JF-17 we currently fly, is it a block 2? Maybe this has been answered before. Also are there any other weapons or systems we are still missing?
-
Ah, P-51 style gear doors closing. Don’t know if they will add it, but pretty cool.

Has supersonic performance been adjusted?
Iron Sights replied to Bremspropeller's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Is the rpm level climbing after 1.4? I haven’t tried it lately, but the engine would go to higher rpm’s before and then that would take you to higher speeds. Then you would need to air brake or maneuver to slow down. I’ll have to check it out since the patch. -
I voted for the Apache, if you just want to figure out which one you may want first. The truth is both. They both have things that the particular airframe does well. Apache is more more modern, while the Hind is a bit more old school. I personally enjoy them both, so in my opinion the best choice is both.

It would be nice to have a fox 3 -
Help! JF-17 Engine shutdown in middle of the flight
Iron Sights replied to AndyPx's topic in JF-17 Thunder
I can’t tell here. I thought at first it may have a key binding with hitting throttle shutoff, but it looks ok. I’ll play around see if I can recreate the issue. -
Chuck is the best. His guide really helped. Some of the training mission were just not getting it done. Nice little plane, but I have a long way to go.
-
I agree that Chuck’s is a good source for start up. Been following the guide and I’m getting faster at getting it going. Looks like the options box changed a little, putting it all in one area. Maybe the last patch.
-
Hate I missed that, I did see YouTube videos of it.

The F/A-18 is a great plane. It’s the one I started with and the carrier ops are a plus. Not to mention there are plenty sources of information on this plane as well. It has nice canned missions to help you learn. Don’t forget the mission editor will help create sandbox missions to help you practice with weapons.
-
Only separate purchases are campaigns. There are training missions, instant missions, missions and some even have a campaign included with the module. If you are new, pick a plane you like and trial it before you buy. Chuck’s guide is an excellent resource as well for getting more concise details about the module. Then just practice. Before you know it, you’ll find DCS has a lot of detail that most sims don’t have. Once you get better you can even create missions to practice.

Why not, I think it would be fine. Never know it might attract more players.
-
I know it was updated by Chuck on 7/31, may not be the latest but better than nothing.
-
Best way to test would be to see if you can shoot a plane that is sitting on the ground with 1-3 shots. Better even if could be done from your plane on the ground or active pause close range wing shot. This may provide more accurate results. Seems to me if you are chasing a plane, there may be no way to tell if your hits were direct or just glancing blows. I feel like the 30 in the nose of the 109 does more damage up close. The 50’s do their best when in the converged zone.

Su-25 in battle action footage
Iron Sights replied to Captain Chuck's topic in Military and Aviation
Well if you like that you gonna love this -
I would like to see the navigator’s role improved from both the multiplayer and single player prospective. Just doesn’t seem like this position has developed at all. Maybe add a bomb sight to encourage people to fly together or the ability to use the map to navigate. This role just seems radio only.
-
Sounds like problem solved to me.

Might want mention as well, some of the newer airframes are fly by wire. The F-14 is not, so you will want to fly it more by the numbers for that reason. I don’t get to fly much right now either, but I hope that will pick up, but when I pick an airframe, I try to go over the procedures for that plane. It just makes it easier.
