I have dusted off the Harrier, if you want challenge yourself while you wait. The AV-8 is a good one to test your skills all around. I guessed around the first of the year the F-15 E would be out in July. I think I’m pretty close to the mark. The other thing is it will take a while before it’s really tricked out anyway. I’m hoping the content creators get so of the bugs out to make for better release.

Today’s DCS newsletter mentioned “tunnels under Paris”…
Iron Sights replied to Barrett_g's topic in DCS: Normandy 2.0
Might not be able to destroy the tunnels. Many static objects don’t have the same damage model. My first wake up call to that was thinking I could breach a dam, nope. We’ll just have wait and see. -
I would rather wait for a more finished product, so that when I am learning, massive changes don’t come and ruin what I have learned. I have enjoyed the sneak peek of the product and I think it was a good idea to let some people test it to help press out more bugs rather than me having to deal with it. Let me remind all that there are plenty ships in the stable that offer more than this early access will, so curb your expectations. If it’s, I just want to fly it, there is a F15C for you to vent on until it comes. I for one don’t know why the community is so upset, let them finish it please and release it when it’s ready. One last note, don’t preorder unless you understand what that means. It means when it’s ready you can just download it. It doesn’t mean that someone needs to rush it out because you paid early. I try to support this simulation so I will preorder something I want, but the experience after that is pretty much the same, if that makes sense.

Iron Sights replied to AhSoul's topic in F-15E
It will be here by July. My predicted date, I’m sticking with it. -
Uncontrolled roll in autopilot basic mode in multiplayer
Iron Sights replied to Kobal's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, flying today on ECW and put on AP, it started to roll. Rolled so hard AP disengaged. Then I ended up having to trim back. Also noticed the roll comes back at high speed as well. Just weird behavior, I’ll try it again later and try to document. -
Reported | External Model issues and errors
Iron Sights replied to Loukuins's topic in Bugs and Problems
These are nice photos. I hope it helps them out. I think they are still working toward a finished product, so I’m sure there will be some changes in the future. -
I would also recommend Chuck’s guides for DCS. He covers all the aspects of getting started with the A-10. I use his guides along with YouTube videos and the training in the game. Between those, you can’t go wrong.

I can agree the turns are not smooth as one would expect. The MiG-21 displays some of this but not as bad. Not sure it if is related to speed and no fly by wire or an error. It would interesting to know if this just a bug or is it related to the controls at higher speeds. Seems to lessen when slow down.

I really like the P-47 and I have all the WWII planes except the I-16. The Thunderbolt can hold its own in a dogfight, eight fifties can do tremendous damage. It all about getting your bullet conversation right. She can take tons of damage and get you back home. On some MP servers where flights are short I find you can push the engine harder then most and get away with it if the flight time is limited. Once you learn your rudder in the turn she is good to turn inside of most in the first turn. Since they have the sale, I say get both for comparison.

The air to air refueling probe is added. An updated RWR. New missiles, and a little less gas in the main tank. Also the biggest feature is an updated INS that allows waypoints to be configured. The gauges have been moved around and it also has a jammer pod you can add. Sure I missed something, but hope this helps.

F-4E Phantom Development Report - DCS Newsletter 31/03/2023
Iron Sights replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Might be like the MiGs, I don’t think it will make much of a difference. For me it’s a give away at fairly close range. -
I’m pretty sure it will be here by July, that’s not far away. If it comes sooner, I will be happy with that and as well if it comes later. I don’t think there is a way to put a date on it yet, until it’s fairly close. I can understand they don’t want to say it will be out on “X” date and it doesn’t happen, would make things worse.

While I do not have the Gazelle, but I do have all the other helicopters. When practicing make sure you take less fuel, if you are going to practice landings. Remember that you would have burned off quite a bit of fuel in a mission, that was one of the first things I adjusted when practicing. Don’t take any ordinance as well. Try practicing hovering and landing, just in a small area to get use to the small changes that are required for in close. Go get Chuck’s guide as well, he usually has good starting curves. Finally, practice slowing down with plenty room to land, because that’s where things become unhinged, transition to hover when landing. The Gazelle seems like it would be a bit more forgiving than a Hind, so I feel like you are just missing something. On a final note, this depends on what you want to spend, but the Huey is a great starter helicopter, that’s where I started and I feel like if you can master that one, you can adjust to different types from there.

Creil Airfield Has a Post-WWII NATO Era Layout
Iron Sights replied to Cliffhanger31's topic in Bugs & Problems
I think the map is a great improvement. I had both so it’s an upgrade that tends to allow you fly in one place rather than have jump between maps. Like all things ED, it should get better with time. Frame rates are excellent too, so I’m happy! -
Here you go, https://www.amazon.com/McDonnell-Douglas-Strike-Operating-Instructions/dp/193570043X

Hope they add some instant missions to reflect the update at some point.

It’s a great idea and I believe it would help those that do have trouble with AAR. I takes me a while to get back up to speed after I flown something that it is not AAR capable, so yes it would be helpful to bypass that step for some. Definitely would make the F-15E unique in that area and might attract more people, wouldn’t hurt anything for sure.

If you update it before it’s stable, then it is a beta release. I went to beta a long time ago, there is really not that much difference. If like regular updates, like me, go beta.
-
Something like that might be possible, but I don’t how much interest there would be in an option like this. I know it’s not going to be something you would see for a while after release, if at all. By that time you may have just gotten good at doing it yourself.

F1EE radar mode and range indication bug
Iron Sights replied to Tango3B's topic in Bugs and Problems
Both noted when flying post patch today. Tried changing my range and the lights not working. Same when I ran a mission with a center tank. -
PvP server where the F1 is on par with other jets ?
Iron Sights replied to cmbaviator's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
I do understand your frustration, the Mirage F1 is very challenging to master. For me I enjoy a variety of planes so I do end up retraining in order to get good again. For me, it’s practice. I fly against the AI to master techniques on the particular plane that I want to learn. Flying against planes and ground targets. For Cold War, nothing beats Enigma and yes you will have more bad days then good ones. Everyone gave great advice in this thread and like I said the Mirage, while sexy, is tough to learn. My squad puts up a Cold War server as well, that is pretty easy, if you just want to cut your teeth. It’s a Wolfpack server. So just search wolf then space pack, you should see one marked Cold War. I use that one some times just to practice, since it stays light. Staying fast in key in the Mirage, then learn to react fast when the chance comes and keep moving. To me there is no F-16 type CW bird, they all have their quarks, but that’s what makes them special. -
New Hind with turret (Mi-35M/Mi-24G "Superhind mk.3/4)?
Iron Sights replied to Logan54's topic in Wish List
While I love the enthusiasm, I don’t think we will get any other versions of the Hind. In my opinion, I thought the chin turret option would be a good idea to get more people to go to the gunner’s seat. Who knows, maybe when the dust clears, they may do another version, I would not bank on it. -
Forgot add the MiG19 is a Razbam plane. Might to check the section there.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree. Unless something ramps up suddenly, I think you may want use the F15C as that missile truck for 120’s. I just did the preorder yesterday on a whim. Said to myself, you could have waited 3 more months and been early.
