What is the Apache sound/detection range at low level? (approximately)
Iron Sights replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I would say not. Also remember the level of ambient noise may allow closer approach. If your prey is sitting somewhere, sniper quiet, they are going to pickup on your sound sooner. But you take guys in a hooch playing PlayStation, running a generator and listening to tunes, like many do in the field. Hell, you could hovering 100 yards away and they may not know. So, I guess it would be dependent on the scenario you are attempting to create. -
More Aircraft types of Bombers ww2 Please
Iron Sights replied to snak's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
While on the topic, I would love to a Stuka module that you could fly. Would be great for the Caucus map. But when you talk about AI bombers, we should at least have the HE 111 and the B-24, given their massive presence during the war. -

The Apache is going to be noisy in a hover and on a quiet night you could detect the noise fairly far away. 5km might not hide it’s sound. However, attack helicopters count on the presence of loud vehicles to mask their sound approaching. In defilade, the trees will help muffle the sound some. The only times I’ve been surprised by a helicopter is when in a vehicle or around running vehicles. That said, you may hear it in the distance and still not know where it is, until things start blowing up. -
I feel your pain on this one. Seems as if some of updates for ECM are not well implemented and other things as well. I hope over time more improvements will come. Splash damage is a big one for me. I just think bombs should do more damage and AI ground units have the most accurate fire I have ever seen. Especially when you get to WWII units.

For me, I wait on sales for modules that I may be on the fence about. If it’s one I want, I just get it and yes I have been in that issue of FC3. Maybe you can give the spare to someone else? However, I don’t see getting anything for free because you have an extra, that’s what the sales are for. Don’t know for sure if that’s possible, but might be something to give maybe to a player?

Sure would like to see another variant soon.

now available When's black-shark 3 coming?
Iron Sights replied to hawa0835's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hmmm, looks like they lightened up the cockpit. I wish the BS had ir, it would make it better at night. -
There are quite a few odd jets in DCS, Viggen, CC-101 and the JF-17. I fly them all and I fly all the known jets as well. For me it’s fun to see the differences in them.

Very nice, saw it in the video. Keep it up!

can not reproduce F/A-18C Engine cover size
Iron Sights replied to Tomcat-Flyer's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Yeah, looks like something changed. Should be covering the outside of the nozzle, good catch. -
anti-collision light 'code' setting not accessible
Iron Sights replied to Napillo's topic in Bugs and Problems
I did look around to see what I could find. If they are modeling it after the F-16, I would your request is accurate. However I could nothing on the JF-17 further than what Chuck and his manual also agrees with you. I guess Deka have would to confirm. -

Iron Sights replied to Napillo's topic in Bugs and Problems
I don’t know on this one. The light works, how does anyone know for sure how it really does work? There is no official manual included with the module. Is there a flight manual out there for the real plane? If we can get that, then I think it’s worth the change. I’m not too worried about this one in a dogfight. Chuck does a great job with what he is given. -
It will come soon enough. I don’t think it’s close enough to release before end of year. I would rather it come out in decent shape, than buggy. So I’m willing to wait, but if it is ready, I would love to see it this year. I haven’t seen any prerelease sale, so I don’t think it is ready. Surely there will be a pre purchase on this one.

Iron Sights replied to hawa0835's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I’m hoping maybe in the next update, but it’s hard to tell. Not much on any of the anticipated modules releasing this year. I was finger crossed on getting something other than 339, but the year is not over yet. -
Try turning off your mirrors and see if that changes anything.

I used it in A2A last night and it tracked well both long and short range for me. Did you have an in range queue?
-
In that case maybe it’s just not implemented yet. It would seem odd not to have a ranging function for air to air refueling. Maybe just an early access thing? Tested and there is no ranging. Hopefully it will be added.
-
Yeah you won’t be able to sit around just on ground power without the engine running, you need the bleed air system to cool the avionics. So if there is a wait time before takeoff, you can just top off before you go with fuel. Should not take that long.
-
Maybe there will be an AA function once the Mirage with the refueling probe is introduced? Hard to tell on this one.

Opposite torque when adding or reducing thrust ?
Iron Sights replied to cmbaviator's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
I tested it yesterday and it seems to me that speed affects the nose up. Faster I go, more down trim, but I have not noticed a change from thrust. I’ll test it again today. -
Wow, I didn’t know it’s been 10 years or was this just speculation back then?

[DONE] Any updates coming for the JF-17 in 2022?
Iron Sights replied to WRCRob's topic in JF-17 Thunder
@Dr_Pavelheer You are 100% right. My mistake, maybe a helmet mounted display and better fox 2,s? -
I’m waiting the next video. That generally shows progress. Almost out of time to make it in this year.
