I think the F-15E should be on par with any of the new releases that have occurred in the past year. There will be bugs, but you can choose to wait if you want. For me, I’m going to grab this one when it comes out and deal with any issues and changes as they come. Most planes in DCS have their unexplained issues from time to time. I’m sure this one will be no different. Nature of the beast.

Chuck's Guides - DCS Tutorial Library
Iron Sights replied to Charly_Owl's topic in General Tutorials
The tablet idea is the best. One of the issues with VR is the immersion. Can’t really see or do anything else, but the immersion is great. Myself I use head tracking for training and a second monitor with Chucks guide open on it. -
I would say just create new content for the new map and those who bought the old campaigns, if they move up, buy the new content. I would not expect Reflected to have recreate all that for free. That change is on ED, not Reflected. I would say when the new map comes, make new great campaigns for the new map, charge full price and forget about the old. Until then, I think campaigns on the WWII maps created by Reflected after the announcement of the new map would have to be ported to the new map, in good faith, since we are buying something knowing the map is going away. The campaigns that Reflected makes are great, so I would buy any new ones, at full price, just my two cents.

Just picked it up yesterday. It flew about the way I expected and I was able to take off and land without any hitches. It will be interesting to learn to fight in it. Right now, it’s just the basics until I improve, but I’m enjoying so far.

Looks like that option will only be available for AI aircraft. I doubt that will change, but they do have three other versions planned, so I guess that is better than one and done.

What makes the Apache the most difficult helicopter module to fly?
Iron Sights replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AH-64D
I tend to start my transition sooner rather than later which helps get to a hover easier in either. I think it just takes time to master. I tend to fly different modules and whenever I come back to a helicopter, I feel challenged at first, but then it comes back. -
My strategy is to pick one or two and focus on them for about six weeks and rinse and repeat. I have bought way too many modules. I do enjoy the variety. I’m not really trying to be a guru at any of them, but who knows. I may hit on one and decide I want to just keep flying it. Right now, it just depends.

Perfect, because I’m not. I’ll give it a try. Also grab the Jeff, just to check it out as well. Thanks for the advice.

Not to start another debate and I have read through the comments. So if you don’t own it already, just hold off? I was thinking about getting it during the sale. I have the F-5, Viggen, C-101 and F-1. Should I hold on this one? I don’t want get something if it’s going to be disappointing. However, I can live through some quarks if it’s still fun to fly.

I think the KA-50 is a great module. In the daylight, it’s great and I believe could go toe to toe with the Apache. However at night, the systems are not on par with the Apache’s night suite of sensors. With that said I have tried both at night and the Blackshark does come up short. I would be interested in others experiences on this topic. The Apache’s short comings would be the lack of a real two man crew. When I have flown as the pilot or CPG, with two crew, it’s hard to beat. In closing, don’t forget the Hind which can also rock your world, when sun is shining. I still have a place in my heart for the mighty Hind.

reported F-16 pilot dies from everything [Solution]
Iron Sights replied to Miro's topic in Bugs and Problems
To me, it also depends on what you get hit by. Larger misses seem to cause instant death in many occasions. While smaller ones and gunfire, many times result in being able to eject. However, if you be able to eject most times, fly the F-14. -
Darpa, I think they are WIP here with this module. My first impressions were mixed. I bought it on day one of the release and there was some anxiety at first of incompleteness. It does need a few more audio and video queues to increase the feel of the aircraft. At first I thought the sounds were off, but I did look at some real F-1 videos and was pretty close. I don’t have the MiG-21 so I can’t compare on that one but I have the F-5 and I think it is modeled better than it. I think Heatblur is ahead of the curve with the F-14 and they have set the standard. I do like the looks of the F-1, so I think it still has promise. They do have Mach tuck modeled, so that adds some realism, it will just take time.

I would love to see the radar guided hellfires soon. I will admit the improvements so far have made the Apache more fun for me. Being able to switch seats in multiplayer will a plus too. I would like to see an Apache campaign. I hope someone is thinking about doing one soon. That would be an instant buy for me. I do think handing off some of the module development will help ED improve what makes the game great. While keeping up a pace of new modules for those who want something different.

Altimeter setting can't go below 930 milibar.
Iron Sights replied to ivanwong1989's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, in places Ike the Nevada map you can’t set it low enough, but this also appears similar to other aircraft as well. -

Thanks for your help Chuck, as always. -
I think George only speaks when commanded to. He is not like Jester.

I think it works fine given the age of the plane and it much better than no radar, regardless. I would say keep practicing and it will come, it’s a fun little jet and well done. I got her up to Mach 2 the other day and the shock cones do work, so that’s some detail.

I was just thinking about when the MB-339 would release. Saw some in a video on You Tube. Hope it’s soon, I want to try this one out for sure.

F1 - How many training missions yet?
Iron Sights replied to unlikely_spider's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Thanks all, I’ll take a look. They did add one instant mission that has the 530, but I’ll check your suggestion. -

I would like to see some air to air, covering the different types of missiles. Might save some time for newer flyers. -
remove user mods Skin textures change
Iron Sights replied to Iron Sights's topic in Bugs and Problems
Looks like the last small patch might have gotten it. Still testing. -
If I fly another plane and then go to the F-1, the wings seem to have digital camo stuck on them. Also I noticed after flying the F-1 first some of my other modules skins are messed up. Restarting fixes it, but just wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior.

I noticed some of the warning lights have what appears to be an adjustment. You get the circle with the arrow when you hover over them, nothing happens, as expected, but just bringing it up. Also the accelerometer does not reset when you press the button.
-
Yeah, this took me a minute to figure out, but that procedure is correct. There is also an auto pilot disengage button, besides the disconnect button. Still working on figuring it out.
