  1. ..I had no idea the pre-allocated virtual monitors were coming back after WMR updates but just tested and sure enough, they're back ! Thanks for the tip! ..So I just checked in the registry, and I still have the PreallocateVirtualMonitors flag set to 0, but I'm now getting 3 preallocated virtual monitors created when I turn my G2 on, which I definately wasn't getting when I originally set that flag a few months back am I missing something ?
  2. I have a very similar rig (see my sig) and don't experience this at all. Very smooth and locked 45FPS on all my terrains. I have PD=1 and SS=80% Can I ask, have you been through and applied all optimisations as suggested in https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/257819-my-3090-settings-for-my-g2-256 Also, and I'm no expert as this is my first AMD cpu, but are you running with a PBO or auto OC boost? I've read that a boost across all cores can have a detrimental effect on single core performance - I run my 5900X at stock and I see my best single core boosting to 4.9ghz. Assuming you're on an X570 mobo, and bearing in mind all the issues reported with its USB ports and the G2, have you tried using a different port or an external USB hub? I get all kinds of problems with the G2 and ANY of my mobo USB ports but it's perfect through an external, unpowered USB 3 hub.
  3. The jury is still out on that one. We have been trying to evaluate in this thread for NVIDIA's version of SAM (Resizable BAR) .. .. with mixed results particularly as we're not entirely sure whether the hack to enable it specifically for DCS via an NVIDIA profile is even working. Haven't seen anyone with an AMD card report anything on these forums yet. This Youtuber appears to have had a possitive result with a 6800XT So as AMD, unlike NVIDIA, have enabled SAM for all games maybe there's something there...who knows ?
  4. You could use AlaskanGrizzly's Kneeboard Builder. It allows you to import an entire PDF manual which is then available in it's entirety or selectively via your kneeboard in VR I believe there are also other kneeboard generation apps which allow for the creation of simpler kneeboards

I started this thread with some optimism but I think the jury's still out on a) whether the Nvidia Profile Inspector changes actually enable its use in DCS and b) if they do, whether it has any effect. I've performed a number of benchmark comparisons on and off. Sometimes I measure a noticable improvement and sometimes none at all with the same benchmark track file. I'd been doing benchmarks against 2.7 and different Kegetys' variations without it, so I turned it on again after those yesterday...no improvement. All I can conclusively say at this point is that it doesn't appear to have a detremental effect.

  9. Go to the folder where DCS is installed. Within that you'll find Bazar\shaders (note shaders not shader) Just to add my name to the hat, I've reported seperately as didn't see it reported here but I also don't get the VR mask in flight - Reverb G2 via SteamVR I've done a full repair with the search for extra files and their removal. I've verified that I have HMDMask.fx and that it's content is identical to a G2 user who sees the VR Mask. I'd guess that this is the case for more users, but it's not being reported because it's not listed as a new feature.

  11. My pleasure, glad to hear it's resolved. While I'm here, one question.. Are you seeing the new circular/octaganal VR mask on your desktop mirror ? I ask as I'm one of a few who are still just seeing the regular square mirror and wondering if it might relate to my hardware.
  12. Yes and I ain't touched it. Interestingly it has a modified date/time at the time I implemented it so maybe its content was calculated then based on my build at the time (I hadn't removed kegetys then) Would you mind sharing your version and I'll compare ? ..this is my version HMDMask.fx
  13. I have the same hardware setup as you on which is why I picked this up, see my signature. How are you finding the 5900x? Do you bother using PBO or even the new PBO2 curve optimiser/single core stuff ? It's my first AMD so I'm sticking with stock for now..which is actually coping very nicely indeed on pretty maxed out settings.

This is the recent version for DCS Either pop it in your mod manager or copy the files in the BIN folder into the Root DCS\bin folder. The files are unique and so don't overwrite any DCS files in there, so easy to remove again too.ReshadeVR_sharpen_color NEXUS.zip
  15. I have the same CPU/GPU/headset as you and I don't think I see this. What are your settings ? SteamVR SS, PD, visible range settings etc ? Is there a particular instant action mission or track I could run to try and recreate ?

  17. Sounds like a reasonable explanation. Certainly there's zero difference between standard and ultra settings. Personally I still think they're brilliant in VR though as I never fly in 2D I'm not comparing to that experience. I don't own it (or want it) but if you look at Youtube posts of VR users of that MS sim, their clouds in VR don't appear to look any better. Just as blurry with all of MS's resources behind their development. In fact, and I'm only going off Youtube vids, but I'd say ED's look better and more varied. I think they're worth it just for their shadow effects on the terrain, and have you tried the rainy versions, or dropped the temp and tried to navigate through a major snow storm ? VR is always going to be a compromise visually compared to 2D, so I guess we choose between immersion and cinematography.
  18. ..that said, could it be something like monitor resolution ? I use an ultrawide at 3440 x 1440, which I imagine is not that common. Must be some common factor I guess.
  19. No mate, I was a virtual virgin before the G2. My only Quest was to save myself for this marriage made in heaven. It's really only a minor irritation and my performance seems unchanged anyway. I'm sure ED have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Ok, I removed mods (only ReshadeVR_sharpen_color and shaders IC) then did a full repair (with search for extra files - which were removed to backup) Still no mask in flight Also tried clearing fxo (I never get anything in metashaders2), still nothing I'm running a G2 via SteamVR My settings a literally almost identical to @speed-of-heat's so not sure what other differences we have...apart from Intel V AMD ? Any more ideas ?
  21. Might be relevant, I happened to be doing some benchmark tests to see if ReBAR could be turned on for DCS on Tuesday (still debatable). I repeated them following 2.7 and saw that my average FPS rates were pretty much unchanged. However, I did notice GPU percentage utilisation consistantly up by 8-9%. Not sure if that means it's more GPU intensive or if the engine is now better utilizing the GPU, mabye both. Here's an extract from my test results. They were all taken using the same track file which was a 2 minute, high speed, NOE, high G turning circle in the Viper over the city of Damascus - Syria NOE Tight Turn Benchmark.trk
  22. I actually didn't remove your Kegetys' variant before 2.7, just cleared fxo and metashaders2 (because stupidly, I didn't install it with OvGME!). Almost scared to run a repair as it's running so well but will remove mods as try that later today. Thanks.
  23. That's really bad news mate. I have to say the shimmering is very slight for me but from many other posts it seems it must vary in degree across different rigs. I guess you can always set them to "Nothing" in ME, or perhaps try one of the lower variations ? Hopefully ED will address as one of their stated top priorities.
  24. I've never set it to anything but off. I'll give it a whirl against the benchmarks I've been taking sine I did the ReBAR tests a in this thread on Tuesday ..ran it twice and saw no difference. Then again noticed my setting was actually "Use the 3D application setting" rather than off
