  1. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I'm not really sure what you mean. Do you mean scrolling through them in a DCS cockpit ? Each kneeboard page you access from within a DCS cockpit with its kneeboard function is just a single .png image file, located in either the root kneeboard folder in your saved games\DCS(.openbeta) folder, or in an aircraft specific folder within that kneeboard folder (,the terrain/airfiled maps you see are from folders under the mods\terrains folders in you main installation but I don't touch those). My program just allows you to create and place those individual image files in those folders when you select them. When you fly a mission, DCS builds the kneeboard by collecting the .png images from the the contents of the above folders depending on what aircraft you're flying (and what terrain you're in for the terrain/airfield map images) Can you elaborate on what you're trying to do ? EDIT: Ah, I think I know what you're doing. You're taking multiple snips into a single kneebord pane. Yes, the app will let you do that because the kneeboard pane is actually a rich text editor (like a word document), so each snip just adds to the bottom of the pane and you can scroll through them. I'm afraid that won't work though, because a DCS kneeboard page is just a single image of fixed dimensions, not scrollable, so only what you see in the kneebord pane will become a kneeboard .png image when you select it to write the image. You need to create a new kneeboard pane for each image you want to capture, then each pane will become a seperate kneeboard page in DCS. An exception to this is if you're snipping small images and using the "normal" or "fit horizontal" capture setting to gradually build up a kneeboard page. However you use it, when you click the "KB" column box, whatever is showing within the kneeboard pane will become the DCS kneeboard image. Hope that explains it.
  2. Doesn't help, the 4 wee triangles just get closer to the centre without any effect outside of their bounds
  3. Yeah, it's available for my mobo but currently only beta and I've seen users reporting problems..and of it not resolving the USB issue
  4. ..I just tried increasing the values to 1.2 (as opposed to reducing them, which I've seen others use to expand the mask's bounds until it's off the screen and therefore effectively off). All that did was to bring the 4 tiny corner triangles about 15% in towards the centre, but they're still just tiny triangles and the area outside of them is still rendering
  5. Yup, it is still that value.. HMDMask.fx
  6. ..just a thought, many, many users have had various problems with the G2 and Ryzen 5000 series motherboard USB ports. Personally, my G2 would not function correctly though ANY of my ASUS Prime x570-P's ports. I was only able to resolve the issue by using an external, unpowered USB 3 hub (which may have the same effect as the above suggestion of turning off PCIE4). The list of issues is actually documented here https://airtable.com/shrhQQFoy4SQKIrjZ/tblvehlveGY2s7cu5
  7. Nope, I completley forgot about that in my excitement. Just tried it and it certainly makes a difference..to both cpu and gpu GPU Frame Time: 9.21ms CPU Frame Time: 6.10ms Thanks, I'll leave it there for now as I think we're hijacking S-O-H's thread a bit. Thanks again @speed-of-heat for putting this all together for us.
  8. Thanks @Mathieas, it's actually those price numbers on the UK site...except it's in £££ !! I've really done very little in the way of benchmarking as of yet. I'll let you know if I do. I've just tried a basic PBO (it's literally just clicking one tab and apply in Ryzen Master for any Intel folk) Immediately.. GPU Frame Time: 9.73ms CPU Frame Time: 6.23ms so looks like that's what I was missing. I imagine once my lack of VR Mask issue gets resolved I'll gain a bit more.
  9. Thanks man, I'm new to AMD and although I've read a lot of that I haven't develved into in yet myself. I'll maybe give PBO auto OC a whirl on this test bed. I've also read that PBO2 is what you really need to use to improve single core performance but it's currently only available via the latest bios and as I've really no overclocking experience I'll wait till they put it in Ryzen Master (next year?) before I lay my clumsy paws on it. (..and I thought infinity fabric was just what the Avengers made their costumes out of )
  10. ..for good measure I just flipped resizable bar back on in the bios and Nvidia ProfileInspector.. Without GPU Frame Time: 9.75ms CPU Frame Time: 7.16ms with GPU Frame Time: 9.69ms CPU Frame Time: 7.25ms
  11. It's not just you, I definately see an increase, and I think you may also be right about the additional shimmering. The great thing is that it's an easy on/off so you can choose it for a particular scenario.
  12. Interesting to see figures from another AMD user. I have a 5900X and 3090 and not quite getting your CPU result.. Using @speed-of-heat's track and same line 26 settings, kegetys and the flat shadows removal, I'm seeing averages GPU Frame Time: 9.75ms CPU Frame Time: 7.16ms I do have an issue in that I'm not seeing the VR Mask at all on my screen mirror so I guess that could account for some of it I also only have 3200mhz CL16 RAM. I have thought about upgrading but those 3600 CL14 kits ain't cheap (or easy to find these days). Were you able to compare performance with lesser RAM ? Do you overclock the 5800X at all ? even PBO / auto OC ? ..incidently, @speed-of-heat, your FPSVR log file averaging method is really effective. I get almost identical results every time. So much more accurate than just watching the FPSVR real time figures bouncing around !
  13. Hi @BIGNEWY, I realise you've probably got bigger fish to fry but could I at least have this logged as an issue please. I've seen a few others report the same issue on other threads and I'd guess, because nobody was expecting the feature, that it's more widely experienced and simply not reported. I don't get a VR Mask at all on my screen mirror while in VR flight. Screen image is the regular square shape. I've tried a long repair with removal of additional files, allowed DCS to recreate my Save Games etc. I've checked that I have the HMDMask.fx file. I'm using a Reverb G2 with a 3090 and I know a number of G2/3090 users are seeing the VR Mask correctly. I'd previously always used the kegetys' mask mod to gain a few FPS but that's no longer maintained/working as ED are now doing their own. I attach a dcs.log file where I just load DCS from SteamVR and start the Hornet Caucasus instant action free flight. No mods installed and settings are using the default VR profile. dcs.log Screen shot..
  14. Thanks, my reluctance is because I've had many week of Windows update problems in which both my Intel and AMD machines fail when trying to implement KB5001330 (which I belive can cause performance problems for some anyway). Tried every troubleshooting method available to no avail. Its failed presence was then causing any other new update to fail to install too, including 20H2. Finally came across this Microsoft utility - https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/wushowhide.html which allows you to permanently hide queued updates (Not available direct from MS any more - presumably because they want you to install all their updates!) Ran that, hid KB5001330 on both machines and all other updates ran through nicely. So now I guess no excuse and I'll give 20H2 a go
  15. Luvely jubly thanks ...ah, forgot to ask..what about headset placement ? Ideally I guess you want to have the headset stationary in the same position for each run ? Do you place it in some sort of stand ? or am I being too picky ?
  16. @speed-of-heat can I ask you a couple of questions on your methodology and baselining please ? I'm planning to redo my own based on that (although I'm currently held up by a) can't disable preallocated monitors and b) still not getting the VR Mask!) 1. For the baseline tests, did you leave motion reprojection off ? 2. Assuming you're using the data logging csv files that FPSVR can create ? Are you triggering that on and off with hot key within your track run ? What then, do you take an average of the results rows ? Thanks
  17. Tried the following today. I deleted the PreallocateVirtualMonitors registry entry, cleared WMR environmant data, rebooted, uninstalled WMR, rebooted, re-installed WMR, added the registry entry again, rebooted.. Still getting the 3 preallocated monitors !!! Not sure where to go from here. I've been putting off the 20H2 upgrade, perhaps I should install and see if that makes the difference. Anyone had problems with 20H2 and DCS ?
  18. Sorry you're having problems. Please ensure to set the capture setting to "Fit Kneeboard" before you take the snip. This will cause whatever you have bordered with the Snip window to be resized to exactly fit the kneeboard. In my example above you can see that I've resized the Snip window to completely border the image you want to capture. Now I need to click on "Normal" in the top right hand corner. This will then change and now display "Fit Kneeboard". Then I'd click "Take Snip!" and the image will be captured and resized to fill the kneeboard.
  19. I guess with reprojection enabled, FPS is irrelivent anyway so long as it's locked. Just noticed..you didn't mention the new VR Mask (which incidently I'm still not seeing at all)
  20. Fantastic update/rewrite of what is surely THE definitive tuning guide for DCS VR. I particularly appreciate the addition of methodogy and baselining sections. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. Now, I just have to try and chase your frametimes...Damn !
  21. Thanks, yeah I guess I'll give that a go in the morning
  22. Well, I don't appear to be able now to prevent the additional 3 virtual monitors being created when I switch on my G2. Tried deleting the registry entry, rebooting and adding it again. Still 3 additional monitors.
  23. Create a new or select an existing kneeboard entry. With that selected, click "Snip!" in the top left corner. This will minimise the main window and give you the resizable, transparent "Snip!" window which you can place over the picture you want to capture, drag its window edges so that your picture fills the transparent client area and click "Take Snip!". The Snip! window has 3 capture settings in the top right corner you can change before you "take snip" to suit your requirement. Clicking on that cycles betwen "Normal" - captured picture is copied to kneebord at its original size, "Fit Kneeboard" - picture is resized to exactly fit kneeboard, "Fit Horizontal" - picture is resized so that it fits the kneeboard horizontally. Full instructions are in the PDF manual. Below, I've opened the Snip! window and placed and resized it over your picture. I'd now click on "Normal" to cycle the capture setting to "Fit Kneeboard", then I'd click "Take Snip!"
  24. I tried to test this, but as I don't see any stutter performing those manouvers in 2.7 without it I can't go any further. Still not convinced one way of the other.
  25. I think you may have cracked the reason why some of us are not getting the mask at all in VR flight. In my options.lua.. ["mirror_crop"] = false, Thanks for this ! ..update: changing the above doesn't help me. I still don't see a VR mask on my screen mirror, just the regular square mirror. Any ideas ?
