  1. I did have runway and road texture packs for BS1 way back when. I got them from lockonfiles and I don't know if they work in World.
  2. Why do so many people say "I bought x to support DCS" I buy things for 4 reasons only: 1: I want it 2: I need it 3: I'm getting it for someone who wants it 4: I'm getting it for someone who needs it. I haven't made any purchase with some pseudo-altruistic intent of supporting a company. I don't buy ED's products to support the company, but I notice that they release things I intend to play. If they release something I don't want, I won't buy it. Simples.
  3. Well that's interesting. I think today's update raises more questions than it answers. It'll be interesting to see FC3 level with some pit clicking and AFM.
  4. I can understand that it would be fine to implement a DCS variant of these aircraft alongside FC3, but a mid-fidelity standalone version would seem odd (unless it is very different in some regards). Wasn't the Hornet announced, or did I get mixed up with official info and forum speculation?
  5. I'm not sure I can see them putting out a module for more than £50-60. I think the piecemeal model suggested above, similar to Rise of Flight's field mods would put me off. What's the point in paying for half an aircraft in effect? Rise of Flight's structure was different, because these planes were frequently modified in such ways. For that reason, I think that structure would work better in the Shark, as there seem to be as many variants as there were models made. However, would the fragmented user-base and split development priorities be a good thing overall? Edit: please note, I really don't know what I'm talking about. I know nothing about how to price things or how to run a business.
  6. I think EtherealN has got it pretty much covered there. Is it worth hundreds of dollars? Possibly. Would enough people but it for such a high price? Probably not. I know I'd be more reluctant and probably spend less overall if each module took up a whole month's spending money instead of about one week's worth. They have to find the most profitable sweet spot in terms of finding the right number of customers to buy their product.
  7. The first thing to ask is where you live, as Lock On can only be downloaded in the US. Many stores in other countries sell the physical copy, including many retail and online stores in the UK.
  8. Beta is irrelevant as far as price is concerned, as there will not be any further cost to get the final version. Black Shark and A-10 were originally stand alone, rather than modules for DCS world. Would you find the price fairer if this were standalone? I think the price is fair, though I'm undecided on whether ill purchase. (Probably will)
  9. Because Ubisoft have the licence to Lock On, but ED have the engine. Ubisoft stipulated the requirement that anything based on Lock On be treated as an add-on to the original game. In this instance, any beef shouldn't be with ED, but with UBI.
  10. @The_Pharaoh Whether you auto update or download the full version is your choice. If you auto update, the modules will also be updated automatically. If you download the full version, download the applicable modules too. You should also uninstall 1.2.3 prior to installing the downloaded version of 1.2.4
  11. 4? Would that be two versions in two languages?
  12. Ohhh, that's fightin' talk :)
  13. Balkans could be fantastic, especially if they cover all the way over to Italy, like F4AF.
  14. You just gave me a fantastic idea Cowboy. Now to see if I can work the mission editor!
  15. Wow! There's been an update to the update! He's going to be giving details and potential screenshots of Nevada/EDGE. Now that's somewhat exciting.
  16. Very good update. Glad that you mentioned my (least) favourite bug in respect of the cluster munitions. I may not be as excited as others about the Huey module, but I'll probably end up getting it anyway. In any case, progress and regular updates will be a good thing. I can imagine that, if the updates are that frequent, some will become a little same-y, especially when we're a long way from a new patch/update/module etc.
  17. To those who knew him, I'm really sorry for your loss. Only saw a few of his posts, but he seemed a really decent, friendly man. At least he won't be suffering now. As they say on another favourite forum of mine "FCUTA"
  18. I've got to admit, as distinctive as the GAU8's "bvvvrrrrrrtttt" is, I still find the "thump thump thump" of the Shark's gun to be very satisfying. It sounds more dangerous in low ROF IMO.
  19. I'm not saying faster or slower until it's actually out. :)
  20. It's counter-intuitive, true. When I was new to this, I just decided to ignore the why, and just do as I was advised. Ours is not to wonder why, Ours is just to do or die.
  21. Eagle Dynamics Get Even? Revenge for all the "where is it" posts?
  22. I think PhysX would be too polarising as it would exclude a large chunk of the market who don't have PsysX hardware. They have stated that there are no plans for ED to redo the current map in EDGE, although it would be cool to see if a third party or modder could do that and re-include Crimea or even expand the map in whichever directions they see fit. I'd love to see a Korean Peninsula or Balkans or, lets face it, just about anywhere map.
  23. Thanks for that info Wags (and thanks for reminding me of an old lager advert in the UK)
