  1. I'll watch this when I have time. Their A-10 quick look was brilliant.
  2. You'll be humming this for days Not sure if this should go in the music thread or here.
  3. You cannot reset the HUD. It's positioned based on the direction the plane is travelling, IIRC, but not necessarily the direction it is facing. I'm sure there were some posts about it when A-10 was newly released. I don't know the answer to your rudder trim question.
  4. Hey, it's a good milestone. We've all been there. Next is to learn about getting from place to place and blowing stuff to bits. Then you've got refuelling - there's a toughie. Keep having fun.
  5. I just created a control layout by looking at the pictures of the cyclic and collective in the manual and matched that as well as I could. The Master Mode button became "designate target/uncage Shkval" The paddle became wheelbrakes, the CMS switch controls trim. I think I assigned burst length to the flaps control on the throttle, too. the speedbrake switch controls Shkval POV. I've not played BS or A-10 in a few months (I have no real reason for this, just been playing other stuff). so I can't remember the rest really.
  6. There's an F15 one that comes with TARGET, although I think that refers to FC2...not sure if that would be of any help. I'm still reading the manual and thinking about control layouts.
  7. Heh. Clearly something screwy with the logic of these multiple new explosions. It does still affect framerate when the explosions are off-scree (I don't know whether they would still be rendered in this case) I hope this is being looked at. I'm not moaning about "time unsolved" or anything. I'd say it's a moderate-large issue, but ED have the team and only they know what their priorities are. Only they know how difficult fixing this is, too.
  8. I'm sure someone who actually knows will come along with a better answer, but I'd guess that Suppression would involve maybe a temporary deactivation of the air defence platform, for example, to prevent a HARM from hitting. If it's suppressed, it can get back up and running, if it's destroyed, it has been broken and rendered useless.
  9. I don't think you really need a rudder trim in the A-10. You have the Yaw Stability Augmentation System, which seems to keep the ball centered in most situations, apart from entering/exiting a turn. You won't really find yourself yawing in an undesired fashion unless something goes wrong.
  10. I would've thought "how to take off and blow up stuff" might have been in there too.
  11. Nor did I until I picked this up back in '10.
  12. Damn those yanks! Such a liability! :P
  13. I'd start by uninstalling and re-installing the game. Also, there's a patch you'd want to install to get the latest version (v1.2 I think, but can't check at the moment) Also, ensure you install the latest DX9 (even if you have DX10 or 11, it can help, and is very unlikely to harm)
  14. "Meesa shooting meesa guns now okie-day? AAAAAH heesa shooting meesa tail off! Meesa no wantin' crunchin'! Meesa hitting silk!"
  15. Haha, Yurgon. I'm with you on the difficulty of identifying targets. A mission that taught me to get better at that was the Near Grundelen mission in the Deployment campaign. The enemy units are BTR80's and infantry along with some Zeus emplacements. The friendly units you're supposed to protect are BTR80's. At first I shot the wrong guys. Later, I learned how to understand who to shoot and who to help.
  16. I see English as realistic. It is realistic that the pilot would understand the switches and instrumentation. The only way I could fly the Shark IRL would be if the Brits bought them or if I were Russian. Either way, my native language would be the same as the cockpit language.
  17. I think I remember reading that or something similar. Basically, if you're on the glideslope and on the donut, then you're on speed. Did I get that right? I know I left out several considerations, but I was trying to keep it to the simplest points.
  18. My grandfather shot his own tail off in WWII
  19. I wouldn't recommend setting the detent if you keep the throttle quite far in front of you. It makes the physical act of lifting and pushing the throttles quite tricky.
  20. It is a very detailed simulator. Having played this, I now fully understand what it will be like when I go bald.
  21. I think the difference in rolling inertia you notice could be due to the Standard Flight Model being used for most planes, whereas the SU-25 variants were given the Advanced Flight Model (as far back as FC1 I think). I'm not experienced enough to talk about formations.
  22. It doesn't install starforce, it's just an online activation, the same as BS2, FC2, WH, P51, FC3 and Combined Arms (well there are minor differences, but either way, those all have online activations, rather than driver-based starforce protection.)
  23. I've not flown in a couple of weeks. It would be interesting to find out if it's the incorrect weapon which has been installed, or if it's just the wrong weapon model that is displayed. Either way, it's an amusing bug.
  24. I think you're probably right, Mouse. I could perhaps have been better off with an i5, but my i7 certainly is no slouch. It was my first PC build anyway, so I couldn't expect to get EVERYTHING right :)
  25. jmod, I think you're unlikely to get 60fps consistently from ED. They already have 64bit, and some multithreading although by many accounts, that could be improved, but not without a LOT of work.
