  1. Maybe this is something we will see when sweep wing planes are developed for player use by ED or third parties (come on F14, bring me back to Fleet Defender)

  3. Fragments aren't modeled currently (unless as wolfie suggests, it was a test system that accidentally made it into production before it was ready). I don't think the issue is only the number of explosions, as it was fine until it used the new explosion graphic/animation. It's hard to figure out if it's related to the new visual effects, or to the act of the bomblets exploding. The framerate drops just the same whether the explosion is on or off-screen. This would suggest to me that the sim is struggling to calculate the explosions themselves. However, the fact that this issue only came about with the new visual effect would suggest that as the culprit. In any case, it's a real shame, as it basically forbids the use of a couple of weapons. Edit: It's so hard to be sure. I work in IT support, so I'm used to trying to figure out where a problem lies, but i'm also only in support, so I'm a bit clueless as to how things work from a programming perspective.
  4. YES! You're the first person I've seen saying this. I'm tempted to get into making missions, but the starting scenario I would choose would be very outlandish, to make it interesting and different. What happens from that point onward would be realistic based on the facts supplied by the fiction. Conflicts are rarely similar to conflicts that have gone before, hence hardly any scenario is unrealistic.
  5. It would probably cost a lot more to implement and produce a fuel system which could allow for sustained inverted flight. A cost that probably can't be justified for an aircraft that doesn't really need to sustain negative G for a long time. For the most part, negative G is more awkward than positive anyway.

  8. Completely different issues being looked at on a completely different agenda, probably by different individuals. It's certainly been acknowledged by one of the testers at the very least. I think things will improve in this regard. I just can't see it being left permanently in a state where several weapons are, in effect, unusable.
  9. Well there is the dynamic weather system. It eats some frames, and the options in the ME aren't very good, but someone on this forum somewhere figured out the LUA scripting for it and was able to make variable wind and cloud conditions.
  10. As long as you remember to extend the final 20% once you hit the ground, I suppose. The speedbrake can only be extended to 80% when in the air.
  11. I think Coolts was talking about a widely used profile in BMS, which was briefly mentioned once or twice, in a fairly relevant manner too. As such, you won't find it in the profiles thread here.
  12. As MLRS and CBU's are currently a known issue, perhaps it would be worthwhile trying out a similar scenario that avoids using that type of weapon. It could at least give us a handle on how many units can be used.

  14. My problem with BMS is getting my controls set up and getting started. Currently the same issue I have in FC3. I think that'll be easier to overcome in FC3 due to better documentation and better options screens.
  15. Well it's seemingly more designed for multiplayer than single player. Other than a few tweaks and the improved missile physics, it seems very similar to FC2. Going by what you've said, you seem to be the target market. I can't say much more yet as I only flew for 1 minute. I have to set up my controls, then learn how to use air to air weapons. I never played FC2 despite having it. Once I learn to use the weapons comes the hard part: using them well!
  16. I have an i7 950 overclocked to 4 GHz and with hyperthreading off. I have a GTX570. I get the slide show. Supposedly between 3 and 8 FPS when dropping CBU 87's.

  18. What joystick do you have? Many have software which would allow you to program a click to a press of one of the buttons. Also, you could probably arrange that it would require a modifier to do so.
  19. Not sure if my post adds to the discussion or not, so apologies in advance: Does this apply to single player, multi-player or both? I haven't played multi player in months. Also, I haven't yet had a chance to try version 1.2.2 as I'm dogsitting for my parents this weekend. Anyway, I never timed it, but I think it's only somewhere between 20-40 seconds for me to load a mission in the A-10 for me in version 1.2.1 System: i7 950@4GHz, 18GB RAM (Overkill, I know), GTX570 7200RPM 1TB HDD, 60GB OS SSD, 120 GB flight sim SSD.
  20. I don't yet have FC3, but would really appreciate the tanker informing the players when he's entering or exiting a turn. I am no better or worse at refueling when the tanker is turning. You just line up with the tanker all the same. My problems come when transitioning from straight to turning or vice-versa.
  21. A common misconception. I thought LO contained Starforce too. This was because I bought Lock On Gold. (The version with the discs that don't like to be read(well they take a long time to read)). What does use starforce is Flaming Cliffs and everything since then (except base DCS World). Although only the first Flaming Cliffs uses the old nasty version that installs itself slyly on your PC. The rest just use friendlier activations that keep getting better until we reach the present stage of auto-replenishing activations.

  24. Has anyone dropped a CBU 87 yet? I haven't had time and won't for a few days, but I'm curious to find out if the performance hit has been reduced.
