DCS World FC3 Nav omni Light Mod.
KaspeR32 replied to diveplane's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I know this is an old post, but I'm just using the search function to try and find some information. Currently in DCS: World, I would love a mod that does the OPPOSITE of this mod. I would love it if the lights were VERY visible at all times. If it's early morning, night, or dusk, I feel like lights on an aircraft should be visible from a very far distance. Especially when I'm trying to find my brother in his mustang, we spend most of the time looking for each other in the air. -

The more planes available. The better. I just hope ED can keep up with them all. It seems like a lot of work on their side to integrate all these modules (new patch with every release, etc.)

Hey all, I was just curious if it was possible to "re-spawn" a group. I have a group with LATE ACTIVATION selected. I activate them when a plane enters a trigger zone. Once they're all dead, and all planes have left the zone, I used "DEACTIVATE" for the group that was destroyed. When a plane enters the trigger zone again, I "ACTIVATE GROUP" but they don't spawn again. I know the trigger itself is working, because I have a message at each stage (destroyed, deactivated, activated) for testing purposes. Is this not possible? Thanks!

The June 14th Update Discussion Thread
KaspeR32 replied to SkateZilla's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
New ATC, YES! Just a little more reason to actually fire up those radios and use them at start up. Also, I always thought aircraft landing have higher priority than aircraft taking off. I always see lines of aircraft waiting to take off at McCarran Airport here in Vegas. -
Yeah, I totally lost respect for this guy. Oh well. I don't think his over correcting is listed as a bug for the flight model. lol P.S. I would totally ask a NASCAR mechanic if he thinks the physics model for a racing sim is accurate. =\ Makes sense right? I mean, why would you ask a PILOT a question about a flight model anyway? We should always ask mechanics first.

Not too shabby. Every week though I keep hoping for an EDGE update. I don't even care about screen shots I would just love to hear about their intentions for it. Thanks though Wags!

Steam is the best thing for PC games since... PCs. It keeps all your games (if you choose to get them through steam) on a cloud, and you can download/play whichever games you feel like playing, with one convenient user name, on multiple computers. There are always great sales on games via steam, as well as package deals sometimes. Most games that even auto-update (Planetside 2) even work through steam fine. Once you get used to it, and start consolidating your games through steam, you'll love it.

New NVidia 770, who has it ?
KaspeR32 replied to Erforce's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sounds exciting. I love my AMD 7850 2GB, but for $399 the GTX 770 sounds pretty amazing. -
Yeah, it was a Dropbox thing sorry about that!

^ What he said. Even though I may have disagreed about some things that you said, doesn't mean I didn't appreciate the video. I mean, what's a youtube video without some controversy?!

How to gain more attention to DCS
KaspeR32 replied to MemphisBelle's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Now all we have to do is get Twitch to consolidate all the "Digital Combat Simulator" Aircraft into one category. I mean, DCS: World is a unified interface now after all. The game should now be "DCS: World." -
This is true, up until your engine freezes (which is what's happening I think) and then you lose all power. It's part of the mission, going over this mountain ridge. Viper probably is on to your problem. I had trouble finding ALL the anti-icing switches. Remember that the "DUST PROT" and "ENG ANTI-ICE" is on the same switch, if you click it twice, it will go into the correct position. If you've been doing this, then I'm not sure what's changed :(

Some people have updated DCS: World before installing their modules. In this case, the "older" downloadable module from the website no longer installs on the most recent version of World. So, they can either revert back to an older build, then install the module via website download, OR just use the module manager to get the latest build of that module. Problem is, not everyone has all their owned modules available through the Module Manager, hence the problem.

Just got the Warthog HOTAS and the Obutto oZone cockpit. They offer mounts specifically designed for the Warthog now. Works out perfectly. Here are some pics :) Only thing that I'm not crazy about is how the Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals don't fit well under the frame of the cockpit. So my knees end up being really high since I have to keep the pedals closer to the seat. Only other thing is to clean it up a bit.. I hate all the wires hanging about. Last pic is of my girlfriend giving it a whirl ;)

Do you have BS1 or BS2? You cannot install BS1 into DCS: World.

Glad I could help ;)

If you're having trouble taxiing, this video REALLY helped me. I can taxi quite well after watching this, where before... ugh, I was almost ready to punch babies.

I see, so it says "Buy" instead of "Install." Hmm, that's annoying on ED's part huh? I guess there is no way to attach your purchase of A-10C on steam to your account from ED? If there was, that could solve that problem. As far as you not being able to install the regular downloaded module, you might have to try installing DCS: World, AND A-10C Module BEFORE doing the update. There is a way to "downgrade" DCS:World back to a version number that would be compatible with the Module you downloaded, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that.
-
Have you tried using the module manager inside of the game to install the A-10C module?

I hate getting my hopes up like that. It's like going to see a movie, I go in having low expectations, then, the movie is usually more enjoyable ;) As far as EDGE goes, I'm assuming it's going to still be based on a flat world, still have problems with the water elevation looking lower than the ground itself, and still choppy as heck with sub-par explosions. I go in with these expectations, and if it's better, allssss goood in the hoood.

So I'm finally getting used to this software a little bit. There are some things that are frustrating, that I'm sure a lot of people know about and have dealt with, but overall, it's moving along. Some of the weird things I've noticed is LEDs. Depending on when I plug in my controller, it seems trying to program LEDs kind of.. freeze my controller. I was spending hours on this last night, when finally I just unplugged the controllers and plugged them back in, and voila, the LED programming worked. Very strange. Also, within DCS, there are only 2 flap options for keyboard shortcuts. Flaps Up and Flaps Down. So my flaps switch on the warthog has to be programmed to hit shift-f when I PRESS flaps up switch, and hit f when I RELEASE the flaps up switch. And shift-f when I RELEASE flaps down switch. This seems to work in game fine, but when the mission starts, my flap switch isn't aligned usually to the one in game. All other 3 way switches I think work, because DCS provides 3 separate shortcuts in game to link to my joystick. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone else.. haha. So yeah, Hopefully when I get this profile down, I won't have to mess with it anymore. What's funny is, after messing with this TARGET software... I'm leaning towards just using the joystick without a profile. It is kind of a hassle to run different profiles each time I switch planes inside DCS. If I do just use DCS to configure the joystick, I feel like the ONLY things I'd be missing, is the LED programming, and the "layers" (U, M, D) Just not sure it's worth the hassle.
