  1. We'll never know if it is properly "simulated" as we don't have a real test result of the R-27T to go by. I'm just giving you my in-game experience.
  2. If the bandit pops flares, you can forget about the R-27T tracking.
  3. Well, if they were stupid enough to fall for it, they deserved to die :megalol:
  4. If it's A-10 you fly, try the 476th http://www.476vfightergroup.com/
  5. Hmm, instead of KMGUs and rocket pods, try the cluster bombs - RBK-500-PTAB. Release from behind the boats and aim a little ahead at faster than 1000kph and at approx. 500m altitude. You will pretty much nail them every time.
  6. Personally, I'd like ED to release a FC version of aircrafts they can't get enough information to make full fidelity like the modern Russian aircrafts. Yes, I want my MiG-31 ;)
  7. It's not useless, you just don't know how to use it. Try firing from behind and close where the Mi-24 can't see you. That way, it will surely hit 100% of the time. And BTW, if you are flying the Instant Action Su-25A mission, its not the R-73, but the R-60M.
  8. Can anyone from ED please acknowledge that this is problem or bug or whatever? Or is it not?
  9. Same here...though I can join a few aerobatics servers, but anything complex like BlueFlag server/ACG/Through the Inferno and it just waits at the loading screen for a long time and then back to the main menu.
  10. Can't wait for the finished project Ironhand! You are THE MAN!!!
  11. Can the buddyspike guys please place a few Su-33s in a few bases like Maykop and Mozdok and Sochi. Currently only Anapa has Su-33s. It takes an inordinate amount of time to startup and fly to the battle areas if you want to fly a Su33. Pls guys.
  12. Its just not realistic and it is creating bad habits for a lot of pilots. Some guys are calling out bandit missile launches from 60 or 70 km out, which is unbelievable.
  13. In my opinion, this "dot" hunting is spoiling proper BVR tactics and radar/eos operation. I hope ED fix it in 2.5 its spoiling the fun
  14. Please look again, India is there as a country/faction in DCS
  15. Come on Dolphin, Rudel and M3 gang, enough with the teasing, please announce it already.. Pls
  16. You are right, never thought about that. So I think we're stuck with Windows for the next 10 to 20 years then...
  17. Hopefully, a change to Vulcan API means that DCS can be run on Linux. I really hope it can be done as I can once and for all say goodbye to Windows.
  18. Hmm, its not mentioned in the manual as you say. I swore I read it up somewhere, though I can't remember where! Anyways, Ironhand's tutorial is a good base for you to work on.
  19. It requires a lot of skill and no luck involved. As Will Bill says, you need to think tactically and of course, understand the strengths and weaknesses of the Flanker and your opponents as well. The Flanker only has SARH and IR missiles available whereas your enemies have ARH missiles. This is a natural disadvantage for you and as such, don't enter into a furball with a many vs. many situation without sorting on the bandits. It will all be over within a few seconds if you do that. Many in the DCS community don't use the Flanker the way it was meant to be used, i.e., tactically. The Flanker has great advantages like the datalink, fuel endurance and the R-27ET missiles. The R-27ER can be used to great effect too, if used correctly and under certain specific situations. I suggest you watch this video to understand the datalink functionality and also go through the datalink chapter in the Flanker manual. Using the above, here's a sort of a tactical intercept procedure. This is by no means fool-proof or the "right" way. Just sort of an approach or guide. 1. Don't use ECM, its useless against AI ARH opponents. In fact, it serves to increase your chances of getting shot down. Use the 2 extra pylons for R-73 missiles. 2. As soon as you take-off, circle around the airfield and let all your wingmen join up with you. Initially, let them fly close formation with you. Try not to make excessive change of directions, instead be smooth with your stick inputs so as to allow the wingmen to stay in position. As a tip, do not exceed a bank angle of 30 degrees. 3. Climb at 10 degrees to around 8000 meters or so at 90% RPM. Cruise to your waypoints at around 0.9 Mach. Use 87% RPM for optimal fuel endurance. 4. When you arrive at the border or the place you expect action, order your wingmen to go trail formation and make sure they are in trail formation behind you before you start the engagement. 5. When you detect bandits, increase your speed to around Mach 1.1 or greater. This will give you a range advantage for your R-27ER missiles and allows to put your bandit on the defensive early. 6. Scan with your radar on HI PRF setting and assign the closest 3 bandits to your wingmen. For example, assign the (closest) first bandit to Wingman #2, second closest bandit to Wingman #3, and third closest bandit to Wingman #4. Most probably, the first bandit will try to engage you. At around 30km or so from the first bandit, launch an R-27ER, guide it for a few seconds and disengage. Do a Split-S and extend out of the fight for around 10km or 20km. As the first bandit is still focused on you, Wingmen #2 can focus on your bandit and will probably kill him. 7. Once wingmen #2 splashes your bandit, order him to rejoin formation while you turn back into the fight and engage the bandits closest to you. Rinse and repeat till all bandits are splashed. Note: Don't expect your wingmen to act intelligently. You have to be on your toes to keep them alive. Once the wingmen have splashed their bandits, order them to immediately rejoin formation or go to a specific waypoint or something. It is your duty to keep your wingmen alive. By flying high, you force your bandits to use afterburners to come up to you, thereby exposing them to an R-27ET shot. Fire under 15km for optimum tracking and use a Split-S and extend.
  20. Very good observations. I really hope they fix all the bugs as I hope to get back into this bird!!
  21. Hmm, so the Su-33 probably has the L-150 PASTEL system in real life. Too bad ED don't have info or can't model it properly as it would be a game changer :)
  22. Thank you for all your efforts Skatezilla! Much appreciated!
  23. Post up a track or video so that we can take a look at where you are going wrong. Yes, you need to lower the landing gear before the hook!
  24. Nice read, thank you!
