  1. Then you must be flying it wrong and yanking the stick or whatever, I don't know. I'd rather listen to SME's with thousands of hours in the real jet and who have tried the DCS Hornet than someone who hasn't flown any high perf. jet and is making claims on his "beliefs" on a forum. Not trying to be rude here or anything but you should be open to the possibility that reality is in fact very different from the game and value SME input. I'm just giving you feedback on what is known and what even the EM charts back up. The Hornet is by no means a rate fighter like it sort of is in DCS.
  2. If people actually knew how to read EM charts they'd know. Regardless, I heard from numerous SME's that the DCS Hornet, even with the 402's, is pretty overpowered, gains energy back even quicker than it should. The Viper on the other hand is underpowered, limited by the whack DCS G-model and bleeds energy/speed too quickly with AOA. The Viper, when clean, should technically outrate everything we have in the game by a good amount.
  3. TLDR is, the Viper is underperforming by quite a lot and the Hornet is overperforming, even for the -402 motors.
  4. What about the toggelable IFLOLS overlay and general IFLOLS visibility and stabilization problems. Currently it only works correctly for the Hornet.
  5. Probably. 2.2 is ridiculous. It's not the gamma per se but the "bloom" filter ED decided to put over DCS.
  6. Doubt we'll see these that soon. I'd rather have the much needed and various fixes in the next patch.
  7. Except it's a non-issue in all other modules? I'm not losing my mind just tired of waiting for such a vital yet simple fix for several months now....
  8. Yes, which is a good thing but "looking into it" doesnt really have a sense of urgency this rather simple fix needs. I dont want to use some shader mode that isn't supported by ED and technically "break" my game (because this is what manipulating shaders tachnically is) in order to see an AOA indexer in one plane better. We'll see where this goes, really hope we'll see it fixed in the next update.
  9. So you are using a shader mod to base your personal opinion on, even though the vast majority of the community is having problems with stock DCS? I cant state this enough but this AOA indexer issue in exclusive to the Tomcat currently. The Flanker, F-16 and F-18 indexers are all perfectly readable. All of these issues only started after the lighting rework in both DCS and your Tomcat itself.
  10. I think this is pretty much the overwhelming majority at this point requesting this. We need the default value to be much brighter and also a brightness slider/thumbwheel fucntion to be implemented. This was working just fine and was a non-issue before this entire lighting rework by ED, that no one really asked for in the first place.
  11. AFAIK this will be an option later down the road.
  12. And this is where all the wrong thinking and misconceptions come from.
  13. Not even close. The APG-73 might have some more modes but it's a fairly small dish and can be compared to the Viper's APG-68 in performance. It's not a long range radar by any means and surely overperforms hugely in DCS, just like the Viper's radar does. ED does not seem to understand how basic radar mech. works.
  14. Sight picture, VV on the treshhold and simply that "pilot shit".
  15. Well, the 16 sorta can taxi in mostly idle in DCS. The Tomcat is super sticky/frictiony though making the landing distances also super unrealistically short.
  16. Technically you use both, DLC and throttle for descent rat. It just takes practice and getting the hang of things.
  17. Full airbrake, on speed, engage DLC, trim it out to on speed, set a good power value and use DLC to control your glideslope and aiming point.
  18. Yes, the Hornet suffers from the same problem. Wheels lock up and A-SKID does not work.
  19. Looking good! Any chance for a full-fledged development update by the end of the year?
  20. 225kts, 2G's max.
  21. Cool! Glad you have this planned, that's all I need to know.
  22. Is this still being looked into? Currently taxiing is a pain (and unrealistic) and landing distances are all kinds of wrong. You stop much shorter at MLW with no brakes used than all other (even light) aircraft in DCS. The Mig-29 with a point landing and brake-chute deployed has a longer landing distance. Please look into this.
  23. Welcome to the Frankentomcat. Currently we have A engine instruments in the B and wonky A engine instruments in the A (although much much closer to how it should be).
  24. They won't because they don't care.
