Here's your 2 cents back! It's not "nitpicking" & not only "Hook skipping". Study Carrier-ops before you write such statements or try the F-18 in carrier-ops. It's also "hook-to-eye distance" or being on AoA speed, in a long jet as F-14 this is very important, IRL fundamental feature in Naval aviation that is trained hard to perfect & very apparent if you do it wrong, with consequences like bolters. Currently in the F-14 you can be way to fast or to slow (not an AoA) & you'll trap every time. That is un-realistic. And YES it does exist in "simulator" already, the F-18 has all of this modeled, to slow or fast AoA & you won't trap, period! bolter & try again. So it's a basic physics if you want to land on the boat. This has already been acknowledged by the devs & SME several times.

Hello Wags is it related to this? I really hope ED & HB can work it out, it would benefit everyone & future 3:rd party Naval-airplanes .

This is a well written quote, that sums up what DCS is about for many of us: "The goal is accuracy and faithfulness to real world parameters. That's what these other customers and I have paid for. Not cave in, because someone doesn't like the design of the Tomcat and can't be bothered to improve their skills." I & many others are in DCS for the realism. So I dunno why you have a problem with my post? Don't you want the HB's F-14 to be as real as possible, that includes an trap-model that challenges you? HB's F-14 is one of my favorites & that's why I care & won't ever settle for anything "arcadish/simplistic".

Thanx. It's very odd ED doesn't want to give you the needed tools, that already exist in game....guess we'll have to make them change their minds somehow.

Come on Heatblur! you pride yourself on being transparent. But you have avoided these 2 questions constantly. I think it's quite disrespectful even though they've been asked several times. For 10 months we've been flying with an "arcadish" trap-model. There's no challenge to trap a wire on the boat, total immersion killer for an Naval airplane. The main thrill for me when I pre-ordered the F-14 was to experience the difficulties of Case I & III & trapping on the boat. With ED's F-18 trap-model experience, I certainty expected the same level of fidelity from HB.....thus my disappointment, especially 10 months in development! ED's F-18 had an almost realistic trap-model from release....so what's the problem with HB's F-14? When is the "arcadish" trap-model finally going be fixed? Why no news on Forrestal? It was supposed to be ready before 2019. But when it didn't make it, didn't it occur to you an update was in order?

Mig-21 coz of high app. speed & limited forward visibility, try some road-base landings with cross-winds & you're in for a treat. JFYI All props in DCS have wrong landing-models (too sensitive touch-down/friction/suspension) verified by several RL P-51 drivers & DCS users: So I'm not putting much emphasis on them.

Well said. My thoughts exactly!

Latest OB, PG. If using "Easy Comms" in ME. It's not working with A-50 AWACS, he doesn't answer to calls.
-
We're not talking about the Case1 pattern or the flight characteristics. We're talking about the trap-model/physics!
-
I really hope so, otherwise the Tomcat isn't complete, but no official word from HB about it for a long time, AFAIK.

Does this involve the AV8B's only weapons & system coder, abandoning the development for +1 year, in favor of a new Mig-19 module?? If they would stick to their contract of continues development of the AV8B, people wouldn't be so upset.
-
RL it was not that easy to trap a wire. Yes HB F-14 is that easy to trap. The trap-model is "simplistic", you don't need to be on-speed AoA to trap. It's still WIP.....I guess?
-
If you want to have a "a blast" & you don't give a dime about systems working in the right way & you just like it as long as you can drop bombs in whatever way....then it's worth it. If you however want accuracy & true to RL AV8B modeled systems that actually uses RL AV8B SOP's.....then absolutely NOT. Then take in account that it was supposed to be finished 1 year ago....

Will the Forrestal come in January? Can we have an update on the progress & what features will be included?
-
You've checked if you flying in "Game flight mode"? Seriously? coz your statement just doesn't make any sense? I've done & seen 1000s time more bolters with the F-18 then F-14. F-14 almost never bolters. F-18 has be on AoA or you won't trap, even then you can have an hook-skip. ED's F-18 is praised by RL F-18C pilots for the very close trap behavior.
-
The carrier trap-model of the F-14 is "arcadish" you can trap a wire at 180kt or 100kt without on-speed AoA, there's also no hook skipping. ED's F-18 is much more realistic in that regard. HB has been working on this since release, but it's going slow. Considering it's an Navy aircraft, this should have been fixed already. HB whats the status of the "simple" trap-model?

Can't get PRMG working on Kobuleti rwy 07 (ch's 15 & 15), PRMG is behaving like back-course on the localizer & is very sensitive. I can't engage SAU command? Can someone check if PRMG Kobuleti rwy 07 works as intended? thanx. EDIT: PRMGs localizer is bugged, it gives reversed turn directions, tested on Caucasus map.

It's going to be so nice to get the Forrestal this year! The silence means only the team is working hard & are going to stand by their words & surprise us on Christmas .
-
Why don't you use the thumb mini-joystick on the X-56 grip? It's perfectly situated & works as an spring-axis, just as on the RL F-14 stick. The sliver pov-switch is for trim.

How does the SD-10 missile compare to the AIM-120C?
CoBlue replied to MobiSev's topic in JF-17 Thunder
The SD-10 is OP, how can it have such out of this world performance? -
Any news on the Forrestal? Will it be ready this month?

I also wonder the same. IRL are you supposed to hold the stick aft before launch & then to neutral/slightly up, just after passing the Cat stop?
