An official HP representative has posted something official via a reddit thread about the newer revision of cable. You can find it here Full URL:

There's no need to order a separate cable but get it exchanged under warranty for the latest revision of cable. Contact (call) HP Business Support and request the replacement of your current cable to the latest revision of cable (under warranty) Explicitly ask for: Part Number: M52188-001 Part Description: SPS-CA ACTIVE 6M BLACK /W SWITCH This is larger and has a power switch, and 'may' resolve your issue(s) Photo of both cables (larger one being the newer revision of cable)

For those with HP Reverb G2 VR issues (errors like 7-14, 4-1 etc.) or audio dropping in/out, USB power issues (not powering the headset) then please contact HP Support and request the updated revision cable. #1. Part Number: M52188-001 Part Description: SPS-CA ACTIVE 6M BLACK /W SWITCH This has resolved both my audio dropping in and out (switching), AS WELL as all of the USB-A and USB-C issues (wouldn't power the G2) to my 'ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming' motherboard. Now, if supply is an issue to the country where you reside and you have the AMD X570 chipset then HP will also supply you with: #2. Part Number: M44588-001 Part Description: SPS-USB Hub & USB Dongle Kit This also resolved the power issues and audio issues of the G2 with USB ports that might not be powering your G2 Summary: 1. For ALL (irreverent of chipset) users experiencing issues with errors (7-14, 4-1 etc.) / audio switching(drop out) then I recommend explicitly asking for the updated cable (#1 above). 2. AMD X570 chipset users (not applicable to other chipsets), you can also ask for the HP USB Hub & USB Dongle Kit (#2 above). However, if you receive #1 then you technically don't need this. I'd therefore request this if #1 isn't available due to back order (as this will work with the original cable) Photo of both cables (larger one being the newer revision of cable) Hope that helps

An update from my experience..... Both of the following parts I've mentioned in the posts earlier are now in my possession. I can confirm that EITHER item resolve all issues I've encountered (AMD X570 chipset user) - Whether that is USB port connectivity issues and/or Audio dropping in and out. I do not need to have both items for them to power my GF2. However, item #2 WORKS with the original cable (doesn't require item #1). Item #1 (the latest revision of cable) works across ALL my USB ports (X570 chipset user), and doesn't need item #2. #1. Part Number: M52188-001 Part Description: SPS-CA ACTIVE 6M BLACK /W SWITCH This is an updated revision of the cable AND #2. Part Number: M44588-001 Part Description: SPS-USB Hub & USB Dongle Kit So too all of you out there with issues with connectivity (errors 7-14, 4-1, etc.) and/or with Audio dropping in/out (first ensure the G2 firmware is up-to-date), I recommend contacting HP Business Support and ask for Item #1 (the latest revision cable ) For X570 users, if item #1 (newer revision is difficult to source, e.g. delays, then ALSO request item #2). I'm aware HP will ship this out but ONLY for AMD X570 chipset users. Other chipsets will need to rely on item #1 (the newer revision of cable) I hope that helps

Hi all - I thought I'd share some information and my experience of late - I've recently contacted HP Support (UK) and had the following parts sent to me: Part Number: M52188-001 Part Description: SPS-CA ACTIVE 6M BLACK /W SWITCH This is an updated revision of the cable AND 2. Part Number: M44588-001 Part Description: SPS-USB Hub & USB Dongle Kit I have the X570 chipset (ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming) and only the USB ports on the front of my case (connected directly to the motherboard USB connector) allows/works with my HP Reverb G2 headset. However, the issue I experience is consistent audio drops outs (it switches to another sound source, if available). All other USB-A or the USB-C ports on the back of the system do not power the G2. Now for those with the X570 chipset and those with 7-14 errors (you'll get this from ports that don't power the G2), contact HP Support (be prepared to provide them with several bits of information 'headset Serial Number, CPU, RAM, GFX, Chipset type, OS, patch levels, G2 firmware level' and troubleshooting steps conducted). And, importantly, request the two parts listed above. #1 is an updated revision of the cable and #2 is a HP USB Hub and Dongle kit. While I'm still waiting on item #1 (because they sent me the original revision), item #2 seems to have resolved the USB powering the G2 issue from the rear USB-A and USB-C ports. I now get power and haven't experienced audio drop outs. Summary: X570 users - You should explicitly request item #2 (I'm aware they are providing those to X570 motherboard users). Previous series I don't think they will (I'm aware of one user where they were informed that they only provide this to X570). Therefore, anyone with other AMD chipset variants ask for the updated revision cable (listed above). This may or may not resolve your issue (also check that you have the latest BIOS installed for your motherboard) Hope that's useful to someone encountering issues with AMD motherboards and the HP Reverb G2

Nothing more to add than what others have already described. I too have both and started off with the Q2. However, I found that software updates after v23 caused horrible horrible performance related issues that just didn't make it feasible (at least for me) to sustain a baseline, and frustration over the weeks of constant tweaking finally had me purchasing a G2. Now, once the initial setup and configuration is completed (and it's not without its problems, as described - AMD platforms and the G2 'USB' connectivity issues) the G2 hasn't required any further tweaks and runs good enough to keep me coming back. I don't enjoy DCS without VR. I can't go back to the monitor and TrackIR as the immersion just isn't the same. Whatever option you decide I'm sure you'll enjoy it. My Vote: HP Reverb G2 (AMD user - make sure you have updated your motherboard BIOS to the latest version available) - Better clarity and performance

I really appreciate the response, and do understand the reasons. While I am attracted to the product on offer I am finding the cost difficult to justify at this time. I look forward in seeing developments in the near future - I'll be watching and could well be a future customer
-
The cost to the consumer if quite high in my humble opinion. Or at least the exchange rate to the currency I use (GBP) is high (As of today 750 CHF = 589.87063 GBP)

I've noticed the same thing during a couple of sessions that I've had the opportunity since 2.7 was released.
-
I thought I was going bonkers but after reading this I am in agreement (VR).

#1 I was lucky and checked an online store (scan.co.uk) on Xmas eve where there was orders available for my 3070. I took a punt thinking it was an error on the vendors site, but to my pleasant surprise, several days later the 3070 arrives.

Also working for me in 2.7

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/2.7.0.4625/ Users may see some vertical ‘jittering’ when looking at distant clouds - This is more visible in VR and we are working to resolve it as a priority. Similar/same issues as reported within the known issues section of the changelog?

the AMD AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.2 has been released and a number of Motherboard BIOS files have been released by the respective vendors. Example from the motherboard I have (ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming

It's certainly made the visuals better for my game. The difference to the medium & distance objects was noticeable (as others have also mentioned). This is especially noticeable when turning it on and off (using the 'END' key). No performance issue while connected to an MP server with 14 users (Liberation mission).

Unsure if the HP Firmware update for the HP Reverb G2 Audio relates to your issue but its worth checking (as already mentioned by X_legio) HP Reverb G2 Audio Firmware Update https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-reverb-g2-virtual-reality-headset/33835976 Type: Firmware Version: 14 Rev.A Operating systems: Windows 10 (64-bit) Release date: Mar 12, 2021 Description: This package contains the updated audio firmware for the HP Reverb G2. Fix and enhancements: - Resolves a potential issue where displays may flicker or go black when playing certain titles at high volume levels.

All good guides and advice already posted. However, I thought I'd also throw this into the mix (some of which might already be covered by the links already provided above) https://vr4dcs.com/2020/12/24/how-to-nail-reverb-setup/

Agreed - The release of the Q2 can only benefit the VR world and push it to new heights. I also started my VR experience with the Oculus Quest 2 earlier this year. However, I have now moved onto the HP Reverb G2 (this week). The next 24-36months is where I personally feel VR will really start to get exciting (quality & performance).

The disconnect issue started occurring for me when my Q2 updated from v23 to v25. The disconnects were very regular and horrible until the update to v26 (about 2 weeks after the upgrade to v25. While the disconnects continue, it's not as often as with v25. What I have been doing is sending my logs via the Oculus Log Gatherer program each time I encounter disconnects or any other oddity during a DCS VR session. I would recommend that you do the same thing. I'd like to think the more reports received the faster they may detect issues (if not already known), and actively work on resolving issues. I'm experiencing similar observations. It getting a step back in the right direction, but it's not quite there yet.
