  1. yup, like @Lt_Jaeger said above, it will work, but you need to buy the "VKB adapter" from them, it's a 3d printed thingie that gets screwed on top of Rhino, and then you attach the VKB stick (extension, whichever grip) to the adapter. The adapter has a coax cable sticking out of it (same cable type used by VKB ecosystems), you just need to connect it to your 'blackbox' (orange box). In the end in DCS you will have 2 devices: 1) Rhino with the axis 2) VKB grip (however it's identified) so you can use all the buttons on the grip.
  2. welcome to the dark side, @motoadve!
  3. lol it works great with the extension, I've tried it with 20cm and 10cm and there wasn't any attenuation in the FFB forces, the motors are pretty powerful, i.e. at 100% force you won't be able to move the stick at all, like it's sitting in the concrete.. Also, the gimbal itself (inside the base) has a pretty tall top section, so with only the grip attached to it it's almost like you have 10cm extension.
  4. per my understanding no amount of clutter, buildings, and clouds can impede the AI from tracking your AC, and I've seen in helicopter threads that they are even get tracked behind hill's (not sure how it was substantiated, but helicopter guys suffer even more from the laser point AA). The only hope is ED finally going to introduce a 'line of sight' improvements for AA sometime this year (hopefully), they've mentioned it in the recent news posts. For my missions I stopped using AA altogether, or set them to 'return fire' only, or rely on half-tracks with .50 cals instead of true AA units. It's extremely frustrating otherwise. ED made the improvements to the heavy flak a while back, it made things a bit better, but the light AA (20mm) is still an aimbot.
  5. I got the VirPil WW2 grip for it (with 10cm extension), the controller in the FFB base (called Rhino btw) recognizes all VIrPil grips, so all of the buttons, work, the VPforce application software allows you to configure buttons/mapping, etc, it's very flexible. For VKB you still need to use the 'black box' (i.e. vkb external controller) because the signaling is proprietary, you can join discord and search thru the convo's, people have been asking about it. The main creator of the unit is Walmis (look for his responses).
  6. it is pricey (~$800) indeed, however I've looked at how much money I've already sunk into this hobby and suddenly that number wasn't that high anymore .. But the experience is so unique it completely justifies the price (to me). The take-offs and landings in wwii props are a breeze since you feel the resistance of the air on the elevator and ailerons and you can fly by that feeling, the Immelmanns, loops, barrels, etc, you no longer need to look at the speedometer to carry them out, the stick will tell you when you're at the edge of the envelope, etc.. Let me put it this way: it's better to have the FFB joystick than a motion platform (!)
  7. let's say the demand for it is there, however no major manufacturer is producing them at this point. With the advent of 3d printing and easier access to milling tools there is a renewed interest in this tech. One of them being VPforce. I've managed to place a pre-order with them about 8 months ago and 6 months later I've received a truly awesome product. (pic below). It's not your usual surviving Sidewinder from MS, but a fully fledged modular system with very strong motors (at max power it can hurt you lol, so there are safety features built in as well.). They offer 2 options: a) a complete product + software, fully assembled, you just need to have a top stick/handle for it, you can attach VKB, VirPIL, Winwing, Thrustmaster stick/grips via various adapters they make b) a kit: 2 motors, controller board + software. You can develop your own gimbal for it. I've gone for the complete product, hence the wait (they are as mall shop). I can tell you that once you try it you can't go back to non-ffb flight anymore. (similar to adding bass shakers to the setup, and then trying to fly without them). If you're interested in it the main comms are done on Discord, here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/ytny6Pdg
  8. pretty much the subj. I've gotten an FFB joystick (VPforce), and flying WWII without it became pretty boring (looking at you, Mossie, and the buggy effect of adding curve's to ffb axis). I just really hope FFB is being worked on as it's a rather significant feature in today's day.
  9. 1100mmHg @ 2400RPM = Unlimited Time (increased manifold pressure without over-revving to 2500) 1100mmHg @ 2500RPM = WEP, 5 mins hi there, @Plexus, I guess folks are getting confused. In the dev updates you mentioned ASh-82FN, however the latest comment from you mention ASh-82 (without N) in any case I can't wait to get my hands on LA-7 !!!
  10. maybe it's one of those 'cumulative' restrictions, i.e. the engine can run at full WEP for 2 hours before a full rebuild, hence they limit it to a total wep time divided by the number of the expected missions before sending it to a rebuild? Because of some specific soviet maintenance doctrine.. i'm totally spit-balling here I remember there was a similar discussion about the A8 when it came out and people were upset that it could run at full WEP for an hour or so. Yoyo's response was "it's a tough engine, what do you want from me?"
  11. that is A.W.E.S.O.M.E! :)) thank you for the update, super exciting!
  12. she does have a serious sink rate if you don't anticipate it... But c'mon, after 2-3 take-offs/landings you're back to your senses.
  13. yup, and continue to increase it to tail heavy at 220kmh, 210... It is a tough bird to learn landing on, and it makes it one of its most exciting features. Keep practicing and practicing, try to do touch'n'go at 210 or even 200khm, in the end it'll become like learning to ride a bicycle, once you've got it you've got it.
  14. hi, Request: can we possibly get a repair function that allows us to repair specific components instead of replacing the whole AC? Lately I've been enjoying flying A8 on short 20-30 mins missions, re-arming and flying back out, essentially trying to gauge how many missions can the AC take before becoming completely shredded/unflyable from the ground/other fire. The current repair system simply replaces your aircraft with a completely new one after 2 minute wait and I'm not sure what exactly it supposedly replicates in real-life, i.e. does the ground crew pulls up a new aircraft and you simply jump out of the old one and get in to the new one? There are many ways to interpret the current repair functionality, however in regard to the immersion it falls quite short. There are only a couple of useful points it currently delivers: - warmed up engine stays warmed up so there's no need to perform re-warming of the motors in P47 and the Anton - saves time on taxiing It would be amazing if you could select the broken/malfunctioning components and replace only them without touching anything else. I understand the purists might see it as a 'gaming' feature, however one must not forget the current repair function isn't exactly realistic either. Anyhoo, just an idea. cheers.
  15. in my opinion a transducer bass feedback (bass shakers) brings a lot more immersion than the motion platform, well, at least the ones I've tried. They were all primarily racing motion platforms, where the max tilt angles were ~10 to 15 degrees, max 20 degrees in some instances. And that's not enough. When banking or during a tight turn the motion platform reaches its maximum position and then stops while the picture in VR keeps turning, etc., it's quite an immersion killer in reality. Had it been a full horizontal/vertical rotational 360 degree platform, now that's a different story, but those are $20k+ or so..
  16. they finally gave us the development update on Corsair after 2 pages of b^ing and moaning, not sure why all of that was necessary. Lack of info/news creates a vacuum that can only be filled with anxiety and doubt, it's obvious but we continue to experience it here. All it takes is one 3-line paragraph to put it all to rest. Anyway, don't want to start another discussion about it, bignewy locked that topic, let's not get this one locked as well..
  17. I understand, I'm glad you're enjoying the G2 (it does have a pretty sweet motion smoothing from MS), but it doesn't work too well for my eyes. I prefer the native high panel resolution (like AERO with 2880x2720 per eye) over any artificial upscaling either in hw or sw, I tend to notice too much smearing in the final image, it could be a psychological problem..
  18. G2's panel resolution is only 2160 x 2160 per eye. SteamVR 100% is already oversampling it by ~50% at 3100x3100...
  19. thank you, @silverdevil for pointing out the logs location! It seems my issue is DX11 related and not FFB... nullWill update all of my drivers next, hopefully it'll resolve itself.
  20. hi there, I've bought a 3rd party FFB system from VPforce, it works awesomely! I've used it with 2.7, and now with 2.8. With 2.7 there were 0 crashes, everything worked fine, FFB worked, it was very nice. Now, with 2.8 and FFB on (wwII birds) the game crashes pretty much every 10-20 minutes. Very annoying. I can't submit the 'report' because I play in VR and the button to submit the report is unclickable, it's there but there's no way to select it with a mouse, and even though I see the the button shade change if I use the TAB key, i still can't press OK because neither "enter" nor "space", nor mouse works. Anyway, what can I send ED, is there another log file I can submit here ? System spec: - MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WiFi Motherboard (AM4) - x5900, 32GB RAM - RTX3090
  21. MSAAx2 used to do the trick before 2.8. Not anymore. The same smoothness can only be achieved with x4 now.
  22. It would be lovely to get a variant with 4x20mm cannons, or even with just 1x20mm + 4x.50... The .50 are cool and all but getting things done with a cannon feels a bit more satisfying, a la Mosquito thrashing tens of soft targets at once..
  23. The roadmap quietly stuffed Hellcat into a "and more!" category.
  24. It is an excellent roadmap and it is excellently ambitious.
