  1. movie making is slow. Even if you use raw uncompressed frames it is still very slow so the codec won't improve it that much. I find the fastest way is to edit the tracks and find which places you want to snip movies from. Edit the track fast forward to the location you want, set your camera angles, then save them. After you have it all, video edit the section of the track you want. A good video shouldn't have long stretches of the same view so you should be recording 1-2 min videos from each track. When you're done use a video editor like premier to add your movie effects (fade in's etc) plus music and you're done. Adobe premier works really well with uncompressed frames but they eat up major hd space. For example in this carrier landing video (http://www.verbalass.com/landing.zip) I made I used 3 track views (tires, wing and ship). People who make 4-5minute videos sure have a lot of time on their hands :)
  2. you need to increase or decrease the lock on box until it auto locks. The keys for changing the size are ctrl + and ctrl -
  3. lol because in falcon4 all the buildings are real, not flat blurred textures that look bad in 2005, but falcon4 is suited for your way back 1998 machine :)
  4. wouldn't the test make more sense in a controlled environment offline rather than online? The whole point of the test is to eliminate the randomness you get when you're online. I doubt the weapon parameters change offline or online
  5. in the game.. no. It brings all fights down to heater range. Try flying online and all you get is jamming signals. boring. For game wise it's probably more fun to increase the burn through range. Another way would be to reduce the effectiveness of the search radar. This would balance out the ECM/non ecm use since ECM would light them up on radar while they might otherwise go undetected without it.
  6. maybe he just got a new x800 and turned all his settings to high and wonders why it runs like shit
  7. I viewed the track. This is the caucus mission so all the targets are enemies and have jamming on pretty much throughout the entired track. After a long time flying through the mountains trying to lock on the jamming target he finally does it on the last mountain. It's the ECM mountain bug that has been there like forever
  8. when you have the tv on in ground mode, the "A" key will stabilize the flight to the target. There is more info on this in the autopilot section of the manual. I find the alt-3 is helpful when the control surfaces are damaged or when I need to level the plane after the load becomes uneven on the wings.
  9. how will the cd version solve these problems?
  10. I guess the crux of the problem is no one but the military knows the exact performance of the aim120 in the field. We do know what its published limits are but we don't know how well the missile performs against enemy countermeasures like chaffing or jamming etc. In most of the sims before lomac you would get a sure kill at 15nm with the aim120, most of the time you could even get one at 20nm. Watching a missile with a published range of 30nm missing at 10nm (what is supposed to be aim9 territory) is a little hard to swallow. But then again, the new missile code affects all the other missiles so the playing field is still balanced.
  11. you are playing on a server with the missile effectiveness slider too low. People who create and host online games should increase it as it is not very practical or fun at the default missile slider level.
  12. The biggest thing I noticed about the su-27 and su-33 was that in 1.02 they stalled like crazy. This is why they had the Alt-P key for spin recovery. All gone now, no spin recovery key, planes handle better, they stall less and will ease out of a stall on their own most of the time. Plus you get more radar modes on the russian planes, ECM seems like a big factor in multiplayer now.
  13. it takes time to auto level. it just doesn't level immediately. The controls are out of whack because the auto pilot uses trim to level, when you disengage the trim will not be reset and there is no trim reset in the su25t
  14. it's not a bug it's a feature. Even in external views try rotating the plane and you'll notice the volume of the noise changes at different positions. It would suck if it had the same sound everywhere. Obviously the cockpit is much quieter than external.
  15. I don't think it's a matter of cards. I have a 5900xt and I could spot ground targets in 1.02 from further away, I can barely see them even upclose in 1.1. They changed something that reduced the distance of eyeballing targets in FC
  16. ground targets were so much more easier to see if you zoomed in in 1.02, but it's probably because of the black dots on a green background. It's really hard to spot ground targets when winter or autumn textures are used
  17. of course it feels like an eternity. After a while you'll get used to it and adjust your tactics accordingly. The most targets I've been able to hit in one run with the laser on is 4. The rest of the time I'll usually average 2 hits in one pass. I keep the 29T around incase I need to hit multiple targets in one go, besides the vikhr's accuracy reduces when the range reading is less than 4.
  18. the external temperature in the game has an effect on cooling time. if it's a problem try reducing it to 0C or in winter -5C, that should lower the cooling time to almost the same time that you had it on.
  19. The page you're quoting doesn't even have the quote. Going by your quote in the post it says nothing on how close these drones where. Many people don't wait for the perfect launch conditions to fire the weapon. I was online last night and they guy fired like 6 aim-7 using HOJ. Not knowing my range or profile shooting HOJ was like trying to catch flies in the dark.
  20. isn't the point of classifying missions so that people can't change their loadouts? especially good in multiplayer games where you want people to stick to their set tasks? if you want loadout changes don't classify. I'm disappointed with the way the mission loading screen especially in multiplayer. The game should at least show the mission briefing and player waypoints and expected tasks rather. The convoluted button thing with coalitions, briefings and loadout changes is poorly done. There isn't even a key to show the briefing text when you enter the game.
  21. In a multiplayer game, when ground units destroy the ammo dump and a new client joins it shows the dump intact not destroyed like on the server. OT: anyone notice ground targets are lot harder to spot in 1.1? You're almost forced to play with labels or add targetting info to the attack planes or they might not find it. I tried many things, like having AI planes fire smoke rockets near the target but new clients don't see the smoke. I also tried the ammo dump destruction thing and it doesn't show to new clients either.
  22. just bc someone said it never happened while hosting doesn't mean it doesn't. ED needs to have a general jist of the problem to be able to locate it in code. Eliminating symptoms people are reporting does no good when trying to find bugs.. maybe that's why the game was released buggy in the first place. Besides all this is moot if ED doesn't have developers testing it out and trying to find it in the code.
  23. you're wrong. The rowboat effect doesn't just appear on the client. I've been "stutter" free since this issue was brought up, but I experienced the rowboat effect while hosting for about a minute and then it went away. I had completed the mission and about halfway through the final landing I saw the rowboat effect. I asked the other player if he was experiencing it too and he said no. There was another player who was trying to join at that time (you know that MP bug where you join a game and you get no plane? and you have to eject to get one?). Anyways after I completed the landing and went to parking I ejected, got a new plane and the effect went away. Never experienced it again even when landing on the same mission.
  24. if I remember correctly continuous dispensing of chaff and flares is SHIFT-Q not CTRL-Q
