$2000 should allow you to build a very fast system. I'm not up on the latest either, however, make sure you purchase a (fast)Dx11 graphics card by nVidia with lots of memory on the card itself. Also, people swear by using an SSD storage solution to minimize loading times and possibly stutter.

The picture of the Iranian contraption above doesn't belong in this thread. Pls. move it to Chit-Chat in the 'Funny Stuff' thread :)

It's moving so fast that you'd almost have to devote _all_ your 'puter-time' just to stay in the loop. I'm starting to feel like what my dad must've felt like when the 'Internet' happened. Exciting times indeed!

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
chaos replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Wright-Flyer... with lazor beemz!!! -
Don't get me started... people who know me would like to call me chaoticmayhemdisasterwaitingtohappen but that doesn't work well for a callsign... :)

Hold on guys... it was meant to be funny... obviously it wasn't but I couldn't find the smiley face. For the record... Nothing Was Promised!
-
Umm... which means there are 7.3 versions to go from 1.2.7 all the way up to 2.0... which means we'll see EDGE sometime around summer 2034... not the 2 weeks that were promised to us!

To be fair... flying any aircraft isn't that difficult. It does sometimes feel like DCS P-51 tries to kill you every time you pull a little bit too hard on the stick. This is where the problem lies. In DCS you're missing a lot of the clues pilots get in the real aircraft. It takes time for the simulation pilot to build up muscle-memory and stay out of trouble. No doubt the simulated aircraft matches real-world performance and behaviour... it's the virtual pilot who has to adapt to the FM and that takes a while...

DCS Mods structure : How to create your plugin from scratch
chaos replied to Alex Okean's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Not sure what is going on... So if it is just pitch and roll... look at the z and x axis respectively. Remember that ED uses a different axis-system as opposed to almost every text on stability and control out there on the subject. -
Yah... like I said... WIP. The variable wing sweep mechanism needs some work but it _does_ look like a 'Fighting Hornet', doesn't it? :-)
-
For fear of being burnt at the stake... Here's my WIP that will, hopefully, make it to flyable status at some point...
-
You're both correct! "Royal Dutch Navy Lynx tries to land on a HDMS EJNAR MIKKELSEN P571 deck during storm." It's in the description... :-)

Since when is Belsimtek part of ED?
-
The F-15 AFM project has been announced a while ago. The fact that Belsimtek is coding it up is news to me... and therefor shouldn't impact the development time for ED:F-18. So, unless I'm missing something, what is all the fuss about?

Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)
chaos replied to topol-m's topic in Military and Aviation
Airlines, by and large, make no money on selling economy seats. The only thing that turns a profit are the "economy plus" and "business class" seats. BTW; those 'profits' are razor-thin. If people are willing to pay a little extra to get a little bit more wiggle-room, why wouldn't the airlines offer that service? They're not in it for fun... it's a business. Just because 'you', as an economy passenger, are not able to afford anything extra doesn't mean that no-one else should get it either, right? Unfortunately space is limited and so, yes, it will be at the expense of the economy class... unless you're willing to sacrifice toilets, galleys etc. Maybe we could do without pilots too... just so you can have more elbow room. :-) Unfortunately it is this general idea that "I should be able to go anywhere for next to nothing-" that doesn't seem to go away ('thanks' to the low-cost airlines). Get real, people... You're going to pay for it, one way or another. -

Yet you expect to pay peanuts for a trip half way around the world. You can't have it both ways... -
RedBeard2, Thanks for looking into this. The lack of reactions/replies shouldn't deter you from investigating further. I, for one, read this thread with great interest and appreciate your efforts!

LOL... Man, that was funny!

The clouds are amazing. I can see myself flying around them just for the heck of it! Win8: I've been using it on my Surface Pro tablet since Feb and I just don't understand the negative vibes towards it. IMO it's just a better Win7...

That was actually quite funny :) -
Fantastic video with lots of interesting content. I can only hope that ED takes good care of all the loyal people working there. I'll up my pledge just to show my appreciation. Thanks Ilya!

If anything this episode heightens the anticipation even more. I've been 'F5'-ing since 7am :) Love to hear what Yo-Yo has to say regarding flight models and whatnot...

My questions; Is EDGE terrain spherical? ie. Does curvature, Lat.-Long. etc. correspond to the real Earth. Does it allow for dynamic terrain deformation (craters). Are there limits as to how large a map can be and, if so, what would be the limiting factor...? Thanks for taking the time to answer these.
-
No, it's a late model with upgraded flightdeck. Look it up :D I'd go with S. England as the next stretch goal. I can't see myself playing captain B17 on a bombing run across the channel. If anything the 'Liberator' would be more appropriate for that type of job. Also, Tiffy please :)

Pman, Apparently this one went right over your head. The issue is not marketing. I think we all agree that this Kickstarter project could've been presented a lot better... that's not the point!.
