  1. I would use a sphere shape instead of a cube to make it roll across the floor... :D
  2. Well, it doesn't... just don't hold on for too long :D
  3. It is not going to be ready for 'our' simulator anytime soon. The resolution is way too low... even the HD version doesn't offer enough pixels. It'll be nice to just fly around in the 'World' but actually finding and targeting the bad guys... ain't gonna happen IMHO. Then there's latency to 'worry' about. A lot of people are complaining about nausea although it seems Oculus has made great progress in countering that effect. From all the info I can find on the web it seems they have a long way to go before it becomes a viable add-on for DCS. And I need to be able to see my keyboard... looking out through a slit on the bottom isn't doing it for me... Now, CastAR... it has 'serious' drawbacks as well but it does seem better suited to my needs.
  4. For a comparison and a closer look check out the video below.
  5. AlphaOneSix, Completely agree and that was the only reason I hesitated pushing the 'purchase' button. These pedals are highly customizable though. As Lausbub78 mentioned, it's easy produce a couple of footplates in your kitchen and have them fitted in no-time. I believe Milan is also planning on releasing different pedal designs for the aftermarket but ETA is unknown at this time. The quality is great, a simple and sturdy design that should last many years. I would encourage anyone thinking of buying a (new) set to watch the YouTube videos that were posted a while ago...
  6. Wow... really enjoyed that show. It'd be interesting to hear what tricks people have up their sleeves...
  7. My MFG Crosswind pedals shipped yesterday. I can't comment on the item itself, obviously, but the guy who builds these pedals offers great support. I've received several updates and he's always quick in responding to email. Highly recommended!
  8. What if I don't like muffins? Can we swap cookie recipies too?
  9. $2000 should allow you to build a very fast system. I'm not up on the latest either, however, make sure you purchase a (fast)Dx11 graphics card by nVidia with lots of memory on the card itself. Also, people swear by using an SSD storage solution to minimize loading times and possibly stutter.
  10. The picture of the Iranian contraption above doesn't belong in this thread. Pls. move it to Chit-Chat in the 'Funny Stuff' thread :)
  11. It's moving so fast that you'd almost have to devote _all_ your 'puter-time' just to stay in the loop. I'm starting to feel like what my dad must've felt like when the 'Internet' happened. Exciting times indeed!
  12. Wright-Flyer... with lazor beemz!!!
  13. Don't get me started... people who know me would like to call me chaoticmayhemdisasterwaitingtohappen but that doesn't work well for a callsign... :)
  14. Hold on guys... it was meant to be funny... obviously it wasn't but I couldn't find the smiley face. For the record... Nothing Was Promised!
  15. Umm... which means there are 7.3 versions to go from 1.2.7 all the way up to 2.0... which means we'll see EDGE sometime around summer 2034... not the 2 weeks that were promised to us!
  16. To be fair... flying any aircraft isn't that difficult. It does sometimes feel like DCS P-51 tries to kill you every time you pull a little bit too hard on the stick. This is where the problem lies. In DCS you're missing a lot of the clues pilots get in the real aircraft. It takes time for the simulation pilot to build up muscle-memory and stay out of trouble. No doubt the simulated aircraft matches real-world performance and behaviour... it's the virtual pilot who has to adapt to the FM and that takes a while...
  17. Not sure what is going on... So if it is just pitch and roll... look at the z and x axis respectively. Remember that ED uses a different axis-system as opposed to almost every text on stability and control out there on the subject.
  18. Yah... like I said... WIP. The variable wing sweep mechanism needs some work but it _does_ look like a 'Fighting Hornet', doesn't it? :-)
  19. For fear of being burnt at the stake... Here's my WIP that will, hopefully, make it to flyable status at some point...
  20. You're both correct! "Royal Dutch Navy Lynx tries to land on a HDMS EJNAR MIKKELSEN P571 deck during storm." It's in the description... :-)
  21. Since when is Belsimtek part of ED?
  22. The F-15 AFM project has been announced a while ago. The fact that Belsimtek is coding it up is news to me... and therefor shouldn't impact the development time for ED:F-18. So, unless I'm missing something, what is all the fuss about?
  23. Airlines, by and large, make no money on selling economy seats. The only thing that turns a profit are the "economy plus" and "business class" seats. BTW; those 'profits' are razor-thin. If people are willing to pay a little extra to get a little bit more wiggle-room, why wouldn't the airlines offer that service? They're not in it for fun... it's a business. Just because 'you', as an economy passenger, are not able to afford anything extra doesn't mean that no-one else should get it either, right? Unfortunately space is limited and so, yes, it will be at the expense of the economy class... unless you're willing to sacrifice toilets, galleys etc. Maybe we could do without pilots too... just so you can have more elbow room. :-) Unfortunately it is this general idea that "I should be able to go anywhere for next to nothing-" that doesn't seem to go away ('thanks' to the low-cost airlines). Get real, people... You're going to pay for it, one way or another.
  24. Yet you expect to pay peanuts for a trip half way around the world. You can't have it both ways...
  25. RedBeard2, Thanks for looking into this. The lack of reactions/replies shouldn't deter you from investigating further. I, for one, read this thread with great interest and appreciate your efforts!
