  1. Oh wow okay in this case I have to take care of the engine even more. And I noticed another interesting aspect of starting: Sometimes the F-16 is having a hot-start with the interstage turbine temperature getting up to 980°C when spooling up, while a normal regular start has a temperature of about 900°C. But I have never found out which procedure failing causes a hot start.
  2. Hi pilots, the F-16 has many interesting technological devices on board like the starter or the hydrazine APU (EPU), and many other nice features. I have collected some nice engineering articles about her systems and the engine and other stuff too on PDF, and have a look at this gorgeous detailed overview: https://www.quora.com/How-do-you-start-the-engine-on-an-F-16-Fighting-Falcon My favorite bird of all of the F´s! And I have two questions about the starting procedure. What happens in a real F-16 when I let the Jet Fuel Starter JFS run for some time until the engine core RPM reaches about 25% rpm - is it going to start? Today two times the engine has not started because I injected the fuel to early with about 17-18% engine core rpm. The engine kept running and spooling up to almost 25% rpm but refused to ever ignite fuel no matter how often I switched the starter off and tried again. Does a real F-16 engine will refuse to start too after making this mistake of injecting fuel too early? Have a good flight
  3. Hm I don´t like that in Flight Simulator too when entering the pit feels like entering a barnyard find. But the perfect F-16 cockpit without excessive wear and tear and without everything scratched and dirty, is almost finished and I am very happy about this new texture: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/de/files/3318437/ Fantastic work! Even the reflections on the MFD screens are now very high quality and no more pixelated and looking like some 128x128 pixel low-res placeholder. The cockpit is well maintained and clean and good looking, with some realistic light used-look implemented into the texture (but without absolutely exaggerating the wears and tears and without having literally every square inch completely scratched dirty muddy and rusty). It feels really good to sit inside such a clean and well kempt cockpit. Unfortunately I cannot fly it because there is some digital signature error when starting DCS (why is the Steam version using some stupid kind of secondary online-DRM anyway?!) but these screenshots were right after installing the new cockpit earlier this evening. And it looks absolute gorgeous, I wish the F-14 had such a cockpit retexturing option. I would love to have this beautyful (if not BEST!) cockpit texture with some middle-grey option too to also be able choose the classical F-16 cockpit design sometimes.
  4. Earlier tonight I was testing this wonderful new cockpit livery.
  5. Same problem here, my fleet is grounded...
  6. After the latest updates I can bring my ultra high powered fighter jets barely up to the cruising altitude of a Boeing 747. Please dear developers bring back these almost space flights which were possible in DCS in 2018
  7. The F-16 is such a beautyful plane it would really deserve a shiny brand-new cockpit option to choose from .... no one agreeing? Imagine buying a Ferrari - you would want it shiny and clean inside. The F-16 literally is a Ferrari, but a flying one.
  8. The F-16 and F-18 have the same visual quality and realism, no bird is worse or less detailed than the other But the F-18 had more development progression and more patches, and offers the possibility to change various custom cockpit repaints. The F-16 on the other hand has some shiny new graphics effects and is more sophisticated in other details, and has superb wing flex.
  9. I upload the texture file if someone wants to use it. It is as real as it gets based on the few F-18 cockpit canopy detail pictures I could find on Google. The file goes into: E:\Games\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Liveries\Cockpit_F-18C \ inside the folder of the cockpit repaint you currently using Don`t forget to backup the original "f18c_cpt-tex10.dds" DDS file in case you want to restore the original. Feel free to compress the file if you have a slower computer, I use only ultra high end 4k texture files for my repaints to maximize visual quality and details: https://www.file-upload.net/download-14633364/f18c_cpt-tex10.dds.html Have a good flight
  10. Hi, the F-16 has some truly beautyful glass reflections and glass effects visible from inside the cockpit. I absolutely miss these shiny glass effects and real-time-reflections from the F-16 canopy when flying the Hornet, because the Hornet cockpit glass is almost "invisible" as if not there at all. I would absolutely love the plus in immersion and enhancement of the sitting-inside-a-cockpit-feeling by adding some beautyful real-time-reflections to the Hornet cockpit glass Here are some screenshots how the glass looks like inside the F-16, and it`s not static but animated and depending on the direction of view and direction of the sun and so on. The Hornet would deserve such beautyful glass effects too:

  12. Yes it was my mistake not pressing the FCS reset button, and I have never noticed that both rudders leading inwards like a V are part of an air-brake system helping to slow the plane down when the flaps are released half or full. The rudder positions have nothing to do with the FCES or with FCES warnings - the rudders are always in this position when the flaps are out. One awesome realistic detail more on the F-18! (I always start and land from cockpit view that`s why I have never noticed this rudder detail.)
  13. The leading edge texture depends on and is part of the texture livery of the plane. I recommend trying a super high quality texture 4k or 8k to have a nice view on the outside parts of the plane
  14. Thanks for the tips But unfortunately the Hornet still always fails the FCES BIT test, and I never before had this problem when doing a start-up procedure, and she always goes into this strange rudder-position. Either something is now different (maybe one step extra to do after a patch for more complexity to enhance cockpit realism) in the start-up procedure, or I am doing something wrong.... I guess it`s time to study the handbook and watch some cockpit tutorial vids on YouTube, it`s probably a mistake I do when starting her up.
  15. I like the Hornet because it was possible to create my own perfect cockpit re-texture for this plane, one which is not dirty, one which has a realistic used-look but is not looking completely worn-out, rusty, weathered and dirty and without having 50% of it`s paintjob already coming off. I love the clean yet realistic look of this cockpit. And the Hornet has some awesome liveries for the outer 3D model - where else do we get flying werewolves and flying vampires? She is easy to fly and forgiving, has great formations-flight lights and good looks, and an interesting flight model almost as easy to fly as a hyperfast Cessna. And she was my first plane. (But I do not prefer the Hornet over my beloved F-16 - I like them both the same way, the F-16 Fighting Falcon has such a superb futuristic spaceship feeling with her golden full-glass canopy and that awesome uniquè fluffy seat, fantastic! But I also want a clean undamaged and new-looking cockpit version for the F-16.) If someone wants to use my cockpit repaint, please send me a private message. I made half of the textures my own but half of the textures are used and modified from other modders and repainters here who made absolute great cockpit repaints, and that`s why I cannot upload it here.
  16. Hi Hornet fans I am not sure if I do something wrong during the start procedure or if this might be a bug, but it hasn`t occured one or two patches prior. When starting up a cold and dark Hornet, after the engine spool up I retract the flaps to upper position and do the BIT failure testing in the "FCS-MC Go" menu screen of the right screen. This is done by pressing Y (or on my keyboard Z) and pressing the upper left button next to the screen. The Hornet does some testing of ailerons and elevators afterwards for a few seconds, everything is allright the rudders align correctly. But as soon as I lower the flaps to starting position and give the Hornet a little thrust to roll, a "Flight Controls Flight Controls!" warning sound pops up and the FCES warning light illuminates on the master caution light panel. The Hornet has never done this before and was always ready to start - therefore I assume this might be a bug. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug, the rudders are not going into a centered position anymore and the FCES warning light stays on no matter how often I repeat the FCS-MC BIT self-test.
  17. Most of the airplanes are WIP work in progress (or beta-status) and many regular videogames are released without bugfixes too. And this is not a bad thing, I was two years active in the CD Project Red forum and helped to bugfix many little details in The Witcher 3 One could say we gamers (or virtual pilots) are all beta-testers and I consider it my duty to notify the developers about all bugs I can personally find in a software product hoping to get them fixed helping to create the PERFECT masterpiece of digital arts. If I cannot convince the developers to bugfix a game or software product I head over to the modding community seeking for help, or try to bugfix a problem by myself (unfortunately this is limited to texturing and simple scripting, I am not as good as many modders out there.)
  18. Yes and this is so cool, makes the airport feel so alive and active and gives some great and interesting planes to watch! Oh I wish I could fly this C-130 in DCS (and I am sure the C-130 pilot would do everything to sit in an F-16 cockpit at least once) but I guess we have to wait until Captain Sim releases their Boeing 757/767 cargo to get an awesome cargo freighter plane to bring some important containers to Area 51 https://captainsim.net/products/y757/y572/ https://captainsim.net/products/y757/y574/ Imagine flying a C-130 or a C-17 Globemaster in DCS to enjoy delivering strange unmarked freight to Area 51. Most of the freight would be labelled code black and even 99% of the Area 51 staff is not allowed to know what`s inside these containers......................
  19. There are two switches related to the windshield and canopy for the F-18.
  20. Hi G.J.S., this is how your bible verse would look like as texture on the jettison device. Unfortunately on one side the text would be mirrored and therefore not readable.
  21. This bible verse is cool but it would fit better on the seat eject grip - these canopy jettison rockets do not mean all hope is lost because some pilots just enjoy open touring with convertible roof and therefore get rid of the canopy glass in the desert heat..... The shoot cue verse is an interesting idea too, but it should be: Even though I fly through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your Sidewinder and your Vulcan20mm, they comfort me...... I somehow fixed the jettison device textures (even if it`s impossible to put actual text there because the canopy jettison rockets share mirrored textures and the text therefore would be mirrored and a graphics glitch on one side). I could put your bible verse on these jettison rockets, later I give it a try and post the results as screenshots. And there is another detail in the cockpit missing which is actual present in a real F-18 cockpit; I have noticed it in some YouTube videos and Bummer created this detail for us in his awesome Hornet pit V1.54 from which I took some textures as template to recreate my own as true-to-the-core as possible cockpit These jets are absolute awesome, expensive, and great to fly, and therefore deserve absolute 100% authentic perfection from all angles.
  22. Hi pilots, I found a little interesting detail about the canopy glass - while the F-18 canopy is open, there are two rocket motors for the canopy jettison visible. I am still reworking the cockpit textures to make the perfect cockpit, and currently trying to recreate a texture for these two canopy rockets to make them as real as possible. But unfortunately the textures for these two white rockets are mirrored which means while one of the jettison devices will have real fully readable labels, on the other device the same text is mirrored. That`s why I was only to able to create a new texture with writings in unreadable small gibberish with a way too small font size to prevent noticing the mirrored letters. But for absolute immersion and study-level cockpits one should be able to read the labels on the jettison devices and it breaks the immersion when on one of these rockets the text is mirrored and looking like a graphics bug. Please fix this little bug and give both these two canopy jettison rocket motors their realistic prints and labels to make the cockpit as real as possible, as true to the core as possible when doing one of the next F/A-18 updates And thank you very much for this awesome plane! I enjoy to fly it almost every day.
  23. This is something for the older veterans here - who knew the old simulator "Falcon 4.0" (on CD ROM and of course including the booklet). What I loved most about the Falcon 4.0 simulator back in the old days was that special feeling of sitting on a rocket chair being able to reach the stars. Only the F-16 can give that special feeling with her full-glass canopy. When flying up to the maximum height the F-16 was able to fly with full afterburner and without any payload higher than the stratosphere (higher than 50.000 feet, almost 60.000) in Falcon 4.0 and everything went very dark and one was able to see the stars and the moon lighting up during daytime. And this was one of the best and unique experiences I ever had in a flight sim! Please - bring that old feeling back into DCS when flying the F-16 and make her fly a little higher (higher than almost exactly 50.000 ft ) without any payload - and bring a little bit more darkness and space-feeling so very high up there and let the stars and the moon shine during daytime in the Mesosphere Nothing beats that feeling... (Yes I discovered DCS after 22 years of Flight Simulator - and even if I have learned to control most of the weapon systems of F-14, F-16 and F-18 because of curiosity and as a technical challenge, still 90% of all my flights are just for the sake of flying and for the great feeling of flying and because of the awesome PERFECT cockpits and the speed and power these fighter jets bring on....)
  24. Hi, I just wanted to know if not only the regular lightly used cockpit but also a brand new cockpit option to choose from will be available later on for the fine ED F-16 plane. Just like the A-10C II Tank Killer - this plane has these two cockpit options too. (I triggers my OCD having this bit of the outer edge broken the the button "3" on the F-16 ICP panel and I would install this brandnew spare part if I could.........) A happy flight to you all, and thanks for creating this wonderful and superrealistic F-16.
  25. Isn`t this the sound the mounting device for the individual turbine fan blades make when turning very slowly because there is a millimeter of space between the individual blade mounts? I have watched a documentation about turbines some time ago and the Cessna Citation turbines make the same rattling sound when turning very slow or when turning the N1 stage fan by hand.
