Wonderful this is a super-detailed tutorial about the Maverick. It was the first time I tried the A-10 and did what the Maverick tutorial said, but without really knowing what is going wrong. So the targeting pod is only stabilizing itself with the help of a build-in gyro system without actually locking on something when doing this, interesting. And the IR view of the Maverick must extra be locked onto something with clearly visible thermal differences. Is the Maverick (or any of the screens) reacting to the force correlate mode? I have noticed that nothing on the screens or the crosshair change when clicking the boat switch center. In the tutorial videos no one is using correlate mode, in the videos they rotate the seeker of the Maverick with China hat forward long to their target pod point, and manually lock on the Maverick with TMS up short button press which makes the crosshair lines of the Maverick screen flicker a bit. I am looking forward to test-fly the A-10 more tomorrow get both the visually guided and laser-guided Mavericks into the target. By the way ..... is it true that the recoil of the Gau8 equals full thrust of one of the A-10 engines?

Hi, unfortunately this bug is still present, probably occurred when game flying mode was removed from the sim. No matter how many fly-by´s I try and how ideal the angle is, the Maverick every time refuses to launch. (Training mission, every setting should be correct.) Or maybe I did something wrong let´s see... Right display: Air to ground mode to make the targeting pod active. China hat aft to make the targeting pod jump to the point of interest. HOTAS TMS forward until target is locked with the targeting pod and point appears. Coolie hat left long to make the Maverick SOI. China hat forward long to make the Maverick seeker jump to the targeting pod point of interest. Maverick force correlate with boat switch center. Maverick seeker ground stabilize with HOTAS TMS aft short. Weapon launch - it never fires, "no track launch ihbt" always, no matter what altitude angle or distance I use.... 9 miles or 1 mile, and the Warthog is good trimmed and centered at the target. Any tips are welcome

Full cold start procedure from the 1982 Czechoslovakian video
JetCat replied to wcdiver's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
In the video there is one difference between our glorious Hind simulator and the real Hind, the engine gauge has two kg/cm² indicators. Does anyone know what this instrument shows that is covered in our virtual Hind? -
The most glorious electrical systems ever simulated in a simulated cockpit. Sorry for not being able to answer your question I don´t have access to a real Hind, but a very interesting topic to read going very into technical details. Just like I like it!

What makes the Apache the most difficult helicopter module to fly?
JetCat replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AH-64D
After enjoying the Hind very much (buying it is already assured!) I also tried the Apache, and wow this thing is so different than the Hind, so extreme difficult to fly and unstable to the max, constantly wobbling either to the left or the right.... the first flights where kinda... ehm... impossible because it even crashed during most starts. Here is a video of the first start, accidentally caught by the airport security cam. After setting the joystick curve to -30% and a few hours of intense flight training + force trim the landings now only end up with a bend landing gear. But the Apache is still very difficult to control, and the most difficult of all helicopters. The reason is it feels too light-weight, wobbling to one side or another too fast, it should have way more inertia and be a little bit more tame. The realism is awesome, just like the Hind it has decreasing rotor rpm when setting the pitch of the rotor blades too high, just like the Hind it can go into vortex ring state, the collective and the tail rotor angle of attack when using the rudder pedals is fully animated, I love the realism! Please do the Rah-66 Comanche next, the best looking helicopter of all times. -
Thank you very much! Now I have to say the Ka-50 is the most impressive helicopter I have ever seen in any simulator. If someone asked me which heli is better the Hind or the Shark I can only answer: Both of them, always buy both of them DCS is the first flight simulator ever making helicopters awesome interesting immersive and realistic. I haven´t touch any virtual helicopter since ancient Falcon 4.0 Flight Simulator 2004 and FSX times when dinosaurs where still grazing in the garden, now I fly helis almost daily since I have started that DCS Hind and Shark trial phase. One can only hope such an impressive update that was done with the Shark is also planned with the Hind one day to be able to open maintenance hatches and other ultra-detailed stuff. Awesome!!

Greetings pilots, on YouTube I have seen that the new awesome Black Shark 3 has endless interesting maintenance latches to open up and look into the engine and avionics bay. Unfortunately I have no idea how this is done, is there a key or a hidden switch somewhere inside the cockpit to open it up and put it into maintenance mode?

Hi, I am currently testing the Black Shark 3 module and I am very impressed and really like to fly the Hind and the Black Shark. I have noticed the Black Shark 3 is just lagging a bit behind the Hind when it comes to the small details, that´s why enhancing the following small details would be so great: ...the two small cooling vent fans to the left of the seat should be animated - just like the little cockpit fan of the Hind. It´s all about the small details to bring such a module to 100% perfection and the cockpit fan of the Hind is THE BEST! That´s why the Black Shark deserves this feature too. ...the electric panel should get a few functions - just like the Hind. LOVE that awesome electric panel of the Hind so the Black Shark 3 should have this detail too. ...the APU of the Black Shark 3 has a superb starting animation with flames coming out during start, but the little rotor blades in the exhaust of the APU are not turning. Please animate the little turbine of the APU just like the engine turbine that can be seen rotating through the exhaust. I love details and really have a close look at these magnificent flying machines. ...a few switches in the cockpit cannot be clicked, like CAB HEAT or GUN CAM, or the de-icing switch above the front windshield. Nothing feels as good as switching to "intense heat" on the Mi24 Hind heating panel on a cold winter evening (just for immersion of course), even if the switch does nothing it is good for immersion to prevent getting a virtual cold. Have a great week you all!

That would be absolute awesome, making the full cockpit functional (including animating switches that do nothing like "cockpit heating"), and of course these two ventilation fans to the left of the seat. What is so special about the Hind is having a fully simulated electrical panel, the Black Shark deserves that too.

I haven´t noticed this so far - all the default missions and scenarios and especially Nevada where I always fly have no rain. Because I need to contact Heatblur anyway so they can have a look at this small Jester/Pilot face glitch with the new Multithreading feature on Steam-DCS I will mention this little rain animation glitch too. This looks indeed a bit immersion-breaking when doing bad weather flights in autumn. Aaah this is so embarassing I think I have sent them the same mail three or four times because my browser has so many script blockers, advertisement blockers, pop-up blockers and other addons running it did not load the HeatBlur page for some time (like it does with many other pages)... until seeing "thanks for your mail we get back to you soon" popping up a few times after another after some captcha worked. They probably hate me now in the HeatBlur office for spamming

Yes I can confirm this is a Steam Multithreading Preview bug. I have tested it in the Steam version, with MT on the AI menu is not showing Jester and Pilot. Should I notify HeatBlur about this little visual glitch that appears with the newest DCS feature?
-
Oooooh I don´t have time a few months. Redownloading DCS non-Steam version for the trial airplanes and waiting till nightfall for the download to finish would already take too long! The eagle must soar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3QrhdfLCO8

Greetings pilots Finally the F-15E is released, and I am excited about that. But there is no trial week available to test this airplane. I really like to test planes at least one day to check if visual bugs, texture bugs, night lighting bugs etc. are present before buying. Is a trial of the F-15E planned later on, or never?

Hi pilots, while all parts of the cockpit illumination in the Tomcat can be fully dimmed to almost zero, the engine readout gauge stands out always at full illumination and does not dim when turning all the light dimmers down. Is this the way it works in the real F-14 too? Is there some hidden switch or key combination to dim this one annoying super bright cockpit element at night?
-
Hmm but what would a Jester be without making sporadic jokes now and then?
-
The Chinook is a pure classic icon. I am very excited now finding out that this helicopter is made for DCS!
-
That is awesome! How is this activated - I have tried the trial phase of the supercarrier but found no option anywhere to activate these skeletons.

Multi Threading is like a dream!! I was so superannoyed last christmas, bought a nice brandnew graphics card to upgrade from Radeon 5700 to Radeon 6700 and a VR headset... and got not one frame more from my new card, but even the opposite was the case (severe stuttering for example on the Mariana Maps). Only very very limited VR-flying was possible and changing the graphics setting barely changed anything in the framerate. Gave up flying the Fenix and DCS with VR in January with the plan to continue VR-flying when the GeForce 4070 will become more affordable.... and now I know that the graphics card was never the culprit of the low performance! It has always been the weak CPU and the single-core limitation because now I suddenly have 20FPS more and all graphics settings on maxed out on ultra and 1920x1080 thanks to the new multithreading AMAZING!!! 10/10!!

Hmmm it has passive luminescence like old analogue wrist watches? Interesting I did not know that! When entering the cockpit everything is pitch black, when starting the turbine and having it´s rpm rise to 61% these lights go on, even with all cockpit lights fully switched off. If it was luminescence material these lights for the panel labels would also be on without electrical power.

The Hornet is very slow. The F-15 flies Mach 2.7 Speed: 1,875 mph and has night vision, that´s the two main reasons I will buy it for the pure sake of speed in VR. Tech is of course the next important aspect that makes an airplane interesting in the long run. Nothing beats watching YouTube tutorial videos for hours, writing down systems procedures checklists and cockpit details, having a perfect simulated airplane with endless system and technology (and of course the weapons are very interesting too to test) at hand. But will the F-15 have more or less tech than the Hornet... hm I don´t know... it´s not released yet I cannot test if all sub-menus of the LCD screens in the cockpit are functional, if the board computer and the navigation systems TACANs waypoint programing autopilot fly-by-wire systems etc. are fully functional. Let´s hope so

Can I make a request please? This internet-anti-cheat test program preventing so many beautyful mods only dedicated to make cockpit textures better and in higher quality, or adding better afterburner sounds or a more realistic-looking HUD-glass and whatnot, is waaaaaaay to tight! After putting my new F-14 Tomcat cockpit textures into the texture folder it even refused to start, but always shut down until I re-downloaded the original default F-14 and kept everything vanilla and default. Oh please come on even forbidding to start up the whole flight simulator when I modify a few cockpit textures on one plane is really way too strict and over-the-top. I guess all other modders think the same way.... And MYSE1234: Beautyful new cockpit, that´s the way the Mirage F1 cockpit looks on most photos in Google picture search I don´t have this airplane yet but your mod really makes me think of buying it. Beautyful friendly and bright looking Viggen-style cockpit. The only detail I don´t like in this cockpit are these too flat Philips-screws at the side under the canopy frame, they look too flat too 2D and need a modified normal map and bumpmap to make them stand out a little bit and give them some depth and self-shadowing. Hm I´d love to add this little detail on the NRM.dds files but like I said unfortunately I don´t own this module yet.
-
For me the perfect icing on the cake would be giving the upper eject seat handles a nice new higher-polygon 3D model (it looks too low detail geometry too angular and is very close to the head that´s why it should be especially high polygon and detailed.) In real-life it´s of round shape and the surface should get some depth too some some nice reeded slip-proof bumpmap. The cockpit is so lovely so gorgeous such absolutest PERFECTION such a perfect piece of virtual art it really deserves this little visual upgrade of the Baker ejection seat. Another nice feature would be instead of using one cockpit texture for both A and B versions giving the B version a slightly newer looking with slightly newer panels and no taped labels on the panels, and leave the good old A version like it is right now with cockpit fixed and repaired by MacGyver tricks and with duct tape and dusty old stuff and hard to read labels inside the cockpit But I think Heatblur is currently working on that and a customizable cockpit, isn´t it? Oh and I would love to load AIM-7 Sparrows on the Sidewinder pylons but I am not sure if this is realistic and even possible on real Tomcats.... if not of course not because realism has always highest priority. Here are fine wallpapers if modders want to make a few new title splash screens, and the comparison between the real jettison handle and the rather flat and low-polygon geometry shaped virtual ones. That thing is so close to the head sometimes even the camera is clipping through it when looking back - it deserves a little visual upgrade

It was PERFECT!!! The best experience ever! You have never lived if you have not tried a VR I have significantly upgraded my computer last christmas, and bought an Oculus Quest 2. It developed some problem with flickering LED background lighting and the battery that´s why I returned it in the mid of January 2023, unfortunately the christmas sale for 400€ was over in January and the following Oculus packages would have cost 600€ or so with the newer Oculus v3 right around the corner (or so they said everywhere on YouTube) that´s why I decided to just take my money back, and wait... I am still waiting And I don´t have any Tomcat 3D VR screenshots anymore I was able to find only these photos and screenshots on Discord, but I can assure you flying the Tomcat is the best experience you will ever have. The cockpit size is ideal with 110% size scaling (but this goes for every game like Half-Life Alyx or Alien Isolation, which was by the way the best game I have ever experience in VR with the mother mod). For the cockpit I am using mouse controls in MSFS and DCS. VR-flying is 100% recommended! This spring a whole array of new very light and small and techy new VR headsets have been announced, but still no final design for the Oculus V3. So better wait a little bit, and choose wisely.
