Wow... "Jester 3.0" this name sounds like a semi-dangerous AI slowly becoming self-aware making awesome jokes while doing so. Is any of this stuff planned for the Tomcat too? Would be great to get a few pilot functions for Jester like having Jester automatically land on a selectable airfield or aircraft carrier.

Hm no, only if you look yourself in the eyes and look straight into the white of your own eyes while staring into the mirror the eyes stare direct back at you. If you check other parts of your face in the mirror (hair, nose) the eyes are not fixated at the eyes of your reflection. So it´s not unrealistic because the pilot is always looking outside or on the instruments to don´t have the eyes constantly locked at the player camera / cockpit camera. But I love your thinking and keen eye for detail!

Beautyful aircraft! I am still waiting for the demo/trial version becoming available to test it. By the way, does this mean I can soon bid on a cheap pre-owned Phantom on eBay? Very high mileage, 1000$ calling price? Or are they not planning to sell them? This jet would be way more exciting for weekend tours than these typical Cessnas everyone else uses.

First exterior retexturing experiments... reason was a texture glitch caused by the white main rotor of the HMLA liveries (when the main rotor got damaged two blades get black and two get white.) After fixing the main rotor I thought it is time for some livery experiments The Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service version. It´s white so it will probably get a NASA experimental rotorcraft version too.

The flight model and flight physics and engine power calculation is so super realistic in DCS you simply cannot take-off with a fully loaded armored helicopter in +40° celsius. Because the engines don´t have the same power output in the high altitude of Nevada and the excessive heat (hot and high) like on some cool refreshing +10°C Caucasus day on sea level altitude. Lower the weight (weapon pylon load, fuel, chaff flare and gun ammo) a bit and you can fly

The overhaul of the sticks is now finished too.

The 3D view looks interesting, and every day I wonder how this looks like on the display. Is it like the Boeing 737 vertical situation display VSD? And this is really not planned? That sounds like a very interesting and immersive feature.

This thread is about losing control because the hydraulics go out when the engines flame out.

The Bell Viper, one of the most beautyful helicopters ever designed. Or the Cobra from the Waifu-Squadron. No urgent need for the R9X flying Ninja missile when doing special ops with this heli - it´s special weapon is a Ninja who jumps out of the front cockpit mid flight, use his Katanas to paraglide to the ground and is ready for action. The R9X is only used in rare occasions. Normally they use railguns and battle-lasers only, but there is always a conventional Gatling turret too for the sake of nostalgia on every Japanese helicopter.

What happens if I cannot land in under 30 seconds? No more hydraulics? Is death eh I mean giving up one of my nine lives unavoidable?

Some questions and perhaps frustrations with this module
JetCat replied to Typhonus2's topic in DCS: AH-64D
If it is perfectly trim it can of course be started with the last trim setting. I have trained to start it without any trim for over a month daily now - that´s why I personally find it more easy to start it in default mode -
The squeaky clean cockpit V1 is finished now This is how a well-maintained Apache cockpit looks like on real photos. It is not factory-new but with light photorealistic wear and tear, my main goal was to get back the SUPERB original Apache release cockpit look and feel from the Apache reviews with screenshots from two years ago. Some time after too much wear and tear where added that looks like a confetti gun shot onto every single surface and all MFD´s *ggg I have removed that and brought back the one and only the real authentic Apache release look. Here are the screenshots of the first refurbished cockpit version. This file is not yet uploaded, I must test it under various lighting conditions, rain, check if all panels are correctly illuminated at night, a few colour filters and other details before uploading. On this panel a small change on the labels was made, SAFE NAV AUTO are a few millimeters higher now. Of course with night lighting. I have also re-done the seat texture, this is the newest version of my Apache seat (also not yet uploaded.)

The Apache has an emergency hydraulics button? Awesome I love that dedication to realism! Is this button functional in the sim?

Ah I think this might be a minor hidden system bug, this happened one time to me last week - no chance whatsoever to control the TADS, the sight was somehow permanently stuck and frozen to I think it read "C-HMD" or "CHMD" and there was no chance to go back to TADS, activate the regular manual TADS screen to move the crosshair around with the HOTAS. No matter which button I tried. Restarting the flight solved the problem. And this small glitch occured only once in all these weeks I fly the Apache

Finally I found a good story about an Apache. And the narrator (or more the author) got almost everything correct except one detail, the Apache has no eject seat and (probably) cannot fire a Hellfire or the cannon after being crashed. Or can it with the ground override arm button while the electrics is still functional? I have never tried firing while parking on the ground, it is time to test that.

Ah using a Chinook as refueling point sounds awesome! Is it´s cargo room equipped with a big internal tank in this case?
-
Is there any chance to give YouTuber Casmo the heli 2-3 weeks before release to have him test the new Chinook? Currently he is testing the Kiowa but I am sure he will do the same for the Chinook. And I am so curious I almost burst from curiousness and really want to see it in action.

Hi pilots, while studying various Apache engagements I have noticed that in many videos one can actually see the bullets fly on the TADS screen (especially if the target is over 1 kilometer away they fly a second or so). A Matrix-movie like band of blurred air is visible behind the bullets. I always thought this is a movie-cliché but can actually be seen on many sniper videos too with the target 1km away. What do you think, awesome visible flying bullets with epic Matrix shockwave effect behind the bullet for the Apache, and more dust and smoke effects in the impact area that lingers for a few seconds? Wouldn´t that be a great idea to make our beloved helicopter even more cinematic and awesome?

Interview with former Hind pilot (with engl. subs)
JetCat replied to Deimos's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Here is another true masterpiece of a video for every true copter fan! Every maintenance latch is getting opened, everywhere the camera zooms in! -
Awesome! Technical info! There is no "useless" technical info only "interesting" and "fascinating" technical info. I have replaced all loading screens and menu screens with Apache maintenance photos yesterday to honour it´s openable maintenance hatches. And since finding out yesterday that the T700 engine also has a centrifugal compressor plus axial ones, flying the Apache feels even better. As awesome as the PT-6 turbine. Here is a great video about an Apache maintenance simulator:

This is awesome, it was always very hard hitting targets 2 miles away (or is the distance in kilometers in the TADS?). With this new feature the gun is way more useful. So the usage for target state estimator is linear motion compensator + clicking laser range finder second detent for continuous lasing enables this computer-assisted deflection shooting? Awesome I will try that in the evening This feature is very useful for Hellfires too, sometimes very fast moving targets on roads are not getting hit by Hellfires. They somehow maybe loose track or get lost or something (countdown goes to zero but no explosion) when a target is driving really fast, even with perfect continuous lasing. Target state estimator will solve that problem.
-
Hi pilots, now this is interesting! A "target state estimator" that can be used with the gun, for computer calculation where to point the gun in front of a moving target to hit a moving target. Very useful to hit fast moving boats. Unfortunately I have only found this YouTube Short and not the full video where this function is explained in detail, that´s why I need to ask: What button is the target state estimator casmo is talking about?

I have noticed this effect too, it kinda feels like the rear area of the main rotor disk stalling, but it is the vortex ring state effect because the helicopter begins to sink rapidly when loosing forward speed and becoming slower than 20 knots or so. Most of the time I forget to look at the variometer but fully focus on getting it into stable hoover, and it feels like a rear area rotor disk stall yes.
-
I will probably add that to the wishlist because it reminds me of the R9X.....
