But can they resist these absolute awesome looking engine inlet filters? Clearly the best and minimalistic looking engine filters ever designed. I hope these can be selected.

The old Wessex behind this guy in the first part of the interview reminds me of this helicopter: I hope the Wessex and the Sikorsky S58 will be introduced as next DCS modules right after the Chinook release and the Hind getting the same awesome maintenance hatches as the Apache.... aw one can dream... This Chinook version looks awesome, the FLIR or laser targeting device, and that search light in the front rotor strut (or however this part is called in a Chinook) are especially alluring.

A few stationary Gatlings behind every window for securing the perimeter after landing in Utahraptor or Taliban infested areas.

The sooner, the better! Not only is this photorealistic helicopter absolute awesome but I am also curious how DCS handles missions not based on shooting but doing other things with planes and helis like cargo. Can big cargo boxes, freight containers, and secret lab capsules be hooked and lifted slowly and transported outside the heli (hanging under the heli on a hook)? Can interesting things be loaded with the rearm menu and will there be high quality models of Jeeps and other things behind the cockpit door in the freight room? So many new and interesting things (I know this partially from Flight Simulator, there are a few freighters like the Airbus A300, but DCS is graphics-wise so next level it will be so much more immersive and awesome doing cargo ops here.)

[SUGGESTION] - JDAF Liveries should have the cockpit spotless
JetCat replied to Fulgrim's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
The Japanese truly take care of their stuff. For example train drivers even use gloves, especially in the Shinkansen. That´s the spirit! Taking good care of the machine and respecting the machine equals taking good care of body and soul and respecting oneself. edit: I have watched a few Phantom videos, and this cockpit (I don´t know if this is a mod, or the default cockpit, or if there is a clean and used cockpit option available) is very clean and well-preserved for an over 60 years old cockpit: -
Is there no autopilot available?

The Tomcat has flap damage modeled. Every third launch I get this by accident because the afterburner is accelerating this beast to 300 or 400 knots in seconds, this overspeed for extended flaps leads to one flap getting stuck and not retracting anymore. The wing sweep gets stuck too because of the damaged flap. And the flaps-damaged Tomcat can only fly straight ahead with full aileron trim + rudder trim in the opposite direction of the hanging out flap, otherwise it wants to roll and needs constant counter-steering. But the flaps are not getting ripped off the wing, only stuck. Has the Phantom an animation with flaps getting ripped off? A good and realistic damage model makes an airplane very loved and wanted, and I still have to decide to buy the Hind or the Phantom next

Scrapping the Sea Shadow - the legend - instead of putting her into a museum was pure blasphemy. Now she only lives on these photos... https://maritime.org/tour/seashadow/stabilizer.php?pano=nr https://maritime.org/tour/seashadow/generator2.php?pano=nr https://maritime.org/tour/seashadow/motor.php?pano=hd And one of the rare photos with the fully functional and also fully switched-on (and not half-way scrapped) bridge: But you are right the Sea Shadow and the Apache don´t really are a good match and have nothing to do with each other. The Sea Shadow would look best next to the only stealth copter the Rah-66 Comanche in a museum.

The Afghanistan map urgently needs: AGM-114M Hellfire II (Blast Frag), Produced: 1998–2010, Target: light vehicles, soft targets, and caves... They are no longer in production for 14 years now but maybe still available pre-owned (with light usage only, minor scratches) somewhere on the internet.

Jester 2.0 (and other new stuff added with F-4 module) when?
JetCat replied to sBinn64's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Are they really planning to implement these awesome features into the Tomcat? -
work in progress AH-64D Japanese skin glitch
JetCat replied to zerO_crash's topic in Bugs and Problems
I have tested this yesterday with all my Japanese Apaches for you but I still was not able to reproduce this effect. That´s why I was not sure what to answer... But now we have an explanation so that´s an engine door. What does it do, eject pressure from the bypass air stream similar to the F-14 does to prevent a flame-out? Or is it a cooling door? -
Hi pilots, is a demo / trial version for the Kola map planned? When will it be available? I would really love to try out the Phantom over the new Kola map.

DCS: F/A-18C Screenshots and Videos (NO DISCUSSION)
JetCat replied to Vitormouraa's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Never the smallest details are the biggest positive aspect of every true to the core flight simulator. The gorgeous details and having the great privilege to see all these mysterious and unreachable fighter jets from our childhood modeled with utmost attention to detail down to the smallest details nut and bolts running and roaring right in front of our screens (or 3D VR headset) is appreciated every single day. Zooming in at things and having a machine that functions like a Swiss clockwork with every detail screw cable geometric shape and spinning thingy in the intake and also the exhaust detailed and fully animated is the true essence of flight simming (the virtual "walk-around" before every flight). Yesterday I finished a few new Hornet cockpit details and a new N1 fan texture based on the real Hornet jet intake fan photos to honour all the small details when zooming in. -

The Cobra - and of course the MK-53 Pave Low III (or King Stallion or Sea Dragon and and no one really knows how many other names this heli has...) For ice cream delivery to the aircraft carrier!

Good morning pilots, I hope you have a great week. DCS is the epitome of ultra realism and absolute state-of-the-art visual fidelity and details never seen before in any other sim. But one awesome detail is missing, a few missiles and GBUs use a visual seeker head under a glass dome. These cute eyes of the missile move around for a few seconds when the electric is switched on. Like this: Since I have seen this video I am obsessed with having this small but awesome visual feature in my Mavericks and Apache Hellfires and Walleyes too. Such an awesome and immersive detail when looking out of the cockpit to the left or right to the pylons and seeing my missiles do this.... move their eyes around during their power up startup self-test after switching on the aircraft or heli electrics. Have a good week and remember, these missiles seeee you P.S. This looks so cool huh? DCS absolutely needs animated seeker heads. Does anyone know what missile this is? The only infrared seeker missile I know is the Sidewinder.

Sometimes when things get completely out of control and the helicopters begins to spin and tilt with me not seeing where I am anymore and what flight attitude the heli has in thick fog and rain, switching to the front seat is the only option to get things under control again Yes switching to the back seat and that auto-hoover button after things are stable again is a great solution. This heli is a bit difficult to fly in IFR conditions like cloud rain fog and other difficult flying situations because it has no artificial horizon or other navigation aids in the IHADSS.

Oh I did not know that. Sorry. I have just googled for Navy Apache versions and interesting missions to land on Destroyers and aircraft carriers (I came to DCS because of the awesome carrier and the F-14) and found a few Navy Apache pictures on Google Search with anti-ship missiles loaded on the Hellfire pylons. So no USS Sea Shadow accompanying the USS Zumwalt to protect from air, and my Navy Apache waiting on the heliport of the LCS Independence?

Looks like the new October-class stealth submarine was late this year, it came mid November. 100% invisible for the radar, not a trace of it on the radar screen. It may be using newest stealth technology making it 100% invisible for the radar, but not for the human eye. Let´s observe what it does... I hope torpedos will be added to the Apache for some intense ship and submarine hunts! In the meantime it just sits there, and observes...

These IR supressors look kinda ugly and strange on a Hind, I always remove them with this mod. The oval stove pipe (with lot´s of oil and kerosene dripping out) is the only species-appropriate exhaust for a Hind, and I have never seen these supressors in any movie or game showing the Hind. That´s why I even think the Hind deserves an upgrade for her iconic stove pipe with a spinning turbine inside, just like the awesome Ka-50 has when looking into it´s exhaust
-
These awesome night-glowing eyes should become an optional graphics effect for the Hind! Is this a mod, or just Photoshop?
-
An interesting case of parallel universe we have here. In my dimension the Hind is so easy to fly it almost flies itself when pulling the collective, stands completely still in the air like it was hanging there, is 100% stable, and can be trimmed in steps to make her smooth and very slow creeping forward, backward, sideways with 2-3 trim-clicks in one direction, and it lands like a feather on a windless field. And all of that is possible because it has an easy-mode build in, autorudder and three other electronic stabilizer functions on a rather hidden autopilot panel on the left corner panel. In the meantime the Apache has no electronic stabilizers at all, and I still crash in 50% of all landings You should not give up on the Hind because if you can fly the Apache - well nothing is more difficult than that, in this case you will master the Hind with ease because the Hind is a tame doe compared to the Apache.
-
No this is perfectly realistic. In simulators the eyepoint (or viewpoint) is always set too low like pilots weren´t able to see anything above the dashboard, having their heads at the same height down where the ADI and the engine instruments are *ggg.... But in reality you sit in there like in a car, with perfect outside view all around and watch down to the instruments and knobs and switches. The realistic viewpoint when flying the Hind or the Apache is one head height above the glareshield

Never before was there a better helicopter simulation in the history of flight simulation with a better 3D model representation of a heli! The best and most detailed rotorhead ever created. The geometrical shapes and forms inside the cockpit are gorgeous!
