  1. ED having butterfly syndrome when it comes to finishing their products is well know. Just ask any of us that fly WW2 DCS. I'll use the Chinnock the same way as I've used the Huey. Doing troop transport in and out of hot LZs or Medivac under fire. The difference is that unlike the Huey the Chinnock actually did this in a modern combat environment. It fits great into Syria map, it will fit perfectly into Afghanistan and Iraq maps. I would rather have a full fidelity blackhawk that let's me drop soldiers by rope or do Medivacs. But Chinnock is still far more useful for this vs Huey. Huey will come into it's own with Vietnam map(which I hope will lead to a Huey face lift) or on the central Europe cold war map that may or may not have been teased in the Chinnock trailer.
  2. This one. Of all the dozens upon dozens aviation books I've read/listened too. No other book has impressed me more in pure fly skill. https://www.amazon.com/Limit-Air-Huey-Pilot-Vietnam/dp/0451222180 And this one is excellent, very good self-deprecating humour. https://www.amazon.com/This-Minuteman-Two-Three-Helicopter-Afghanistan/dp/1946875511
  3. I would love for a cold war map. I think it's a bit of a waste that Sinai was modern. Same with Kola. Historic maps that match a conflict or a period further back seems much more useful since the full earth map will cover current stuff anyway.
  4. Rally don't get the "no boom boom is boring " I recommend people read books by Huey pilots in Vietnam. What they did was at least as skillful and daring as any fighter pilot (maybe even more so) Same goes for Chinnock pilots.
  5. The Chinnock was shown surprisingly little before we had pre-order. Same with Afghanistan. It might be a new strategy. To avoid hype for 2 years. They show a little and then bam! Might be the same with PTO project.
  6. Given all other helicopters with gunners can(Huey, HIP, Hind) which are from ED i assume the Hook will have it too.
  7. Yes, I'm saying if the brits used the M60 on their Hooks even through they normally don't even have that weapon in their inventory. Then there's probably a reason both the Americans and brits used them on the hooks so long. That's actually an excellent way to get flight time and hone skills. Instead of just burning taxpayer bought fuel to get flight hours. They help while getting training.
  8. To make close air support or similar missions in DCS. You have to do all kinda stuff to make battles last longer. Use immortal, triggers to AI off etc But I would like an ME setting were ground units are immortal from other ground units. But not aircraft. That way the AI can fight it out as long as you want. And you can simply use 1 trigger were if enemy units are within a trigger zone. The defender die. Also I'm unsure if this is an option. But if not. The ability to give ground units infinite ammo.
  9. The British ones as late as 2007 used M60s or Miniguns. Which is odd as M60s were never a gun used by the British in an infantry capacity but the FN MAG was.
  10. Same is true for the Huey. Reading books about Vietnam War. The crew chief and M60 gunner would call out obstacles, trees. When troops are off or on.
  11. Yes please, I have FFB stick, sadly the FFB effects are completely modual dependent. ED made warbirds do not have very good FFB. While F14 and Viggen has great. I have MFG pedals, so will definitely get a FFB kit for them.
  12. What exactly are those rules? And why didn't they apply to the Apache or Mossie? As far as I know that other flight sim. Won't let you land troops on the roof of a building while machine gun fire and RPGs come towards you.
  13. Steam allows pre order and always have. The Apache, Hind, Mossie are all recent modules that have been in pre order on steam from DCS
  14. So since there is a set date. I assume where won't be a problem to get the pre order bonus on steam?
  15. Marines in trouble, F16 close air support and Queen
  16. Coming soon or DCS Coming Soon™ Because those are to very different meanings of coming soon
  17. Very cool teaser/troll if the map is released this week, if it comes in a few months, that it wasn't a particularly good thing hype/selling point vise.
  18. A lot of our F4s are gonna look like that.
  19. My most Hollywood action movie video so far, well, at least the end is pure Michael Bay
  20. I wanna fly low through the valleys in my F16 and have it look good. Not sit there in VR with ugly low resolution textures thrown in my face.
  21. Big E was the most decorated American ship of WW2, was at all the major battles. All the way to just weeks before the end of the war. Did night ops during Okinawa and during the "siege" ofJapan. Also photon torpedoes.
  22. Honestly can't tell the difference between Kola and SA on that video. Sure Norwegian F16 livery is a hint. But the fact it looks so much like SA up high. I'm worried this will look and preform like SA down low too.
  23. Agreed. But that hasn't happened in 10 years. And we have no idea if it will happen in the next 10 either. But joking aside. It's probably just not finished.
  24. In DCS 1 20mm AAA has the effectiveness of 20+ real ones. You add the correct number of guns of late war Enterprise in DCS. And she could have blown up Hiroshima just with AAA.
