  1. A cold day in the 80s when the cold war went hot. Taking off and defending a very makeshift FOB somewhere in Central Europe. To take of vertically (more or less) I had just 2 cluster bombs, 2 lima Sidewinders and 1800lb of fuel. Still needed to carefully coax the aircraft up. Making it a mix of vertical and short take off(AI Wingman doesn't believe in the so called gravity and just did a normal vertical take off) Soviet Mechanised infantry was just a few miles ahead. We flew over the remains of a previous battle from the last attempt the Soviets did against the FOB.
  2. Stuff like countermeasure programs isn't possible to edit in mission editor for the F16. But will come with the DTC. So you won't have to spend 5 minutes or more dobbing your way through the countermeasure programs in the cockpit.
  3. Mabye they simply don't have any major new things planned. Or at least not stuff that can easily be showcased (like the map performance improvements in last patch) Usual new features coming to the big sellers(F18, F16 and Apache) are showcased by Wags leading up to the patch. So probably none of that in this patch.
  4. I have no idea how they do things. And while I love patch day for DCS. in this patch we have very little idea what's coming. Unless there is some major surprise. It seems be be a normal bug fixing patch. We've not been informed about anything major. Like vulkan, Kiowa, F4, new map etc. Said I said, might be a big surprise but we don't know so a week extra waiting ain't a big deal.
  5. Not next week. As of now it's slated for tomorrow.(I think the interview was done before the weekend)
  6. I use vr. Not gonna get track IR just for external shots. But I do have an xbox controller that gives me 3 easy to use axis that I don't use for any modual. I did try and bind those axis to the trackIR but it didn't work.
  7. Right now it seems only mouse can be used for axis for external camera control. Would be nice if these could be bindable axis. I'm trying to get smooth camera movements and mouse doesn't really do it. Same with zoom, bindable external zoom axis.
  8. Yeah. It can take several hours for 4k to finish up.
  9. If you think DCS than all planes can do everything. You can strap a bunch of bombs on the F15 and try and to SEAD/DEAD. Not ideal but it can work in DCS. F16 can do anything in DCS and really in real life too. The Harrier in DCS can also be used for everything. It even has sidearms anti radiation missiles. In real life the Harrier never really was used in SEAD/DEAD. But given how SAMs work in DCS the Harrier is probably a more capable wild weasel in DCS then it is in real life. If you go by what they do in real life. F15E is supposed to be a mini F111, with self defence capabilites. But has been used for interdiction (scud hunting, seens like every single allied aircraft in the gulf War did scud hunting) and even BVR(patrolling the Baltics. The F16 has done it all, if we keep to just block 50 or other F16 models of similar capabilites. It's the nr 1 wild weasel aircraft in the world, long range strategic attacks. Close air support both very close with guns or dropping ccip dumb bombs or fancy GPS or laser bombs and BVR. F16s and F15Es are the airforce jets that now are bombing Hothies. The Harrier is of course mainly a CAP aircraft. But has done interdiction(again scud hunting) but also attacking enemy infrastructure. As late as 2011 Marine Harriers bombed targets in Libyan cities. The British GR harriers also bombed Baghdad in 99. Harriers have even been usd as CAP aircraft. Both Marine and British Harriers flew CAP over Iraq in the 90s.(probably same reason F15E flies CAP over Baltics, its a loth threat area)
  10. Are there other planes except you too? Warbirds seem to have just 2 combat modes. Attack or defend. Paradoxically the AI is much harder to hit if they are in attack mode(chasing another aircraft) than when they are in defend mode(slow turn and nothing else) I've also discovered another strange behaviour. The defending AI gets progressibly better at defending (avoiding getting shot) the more you damage it. Some of the hardest fights I've had with AI is after its been damaged and is leaking oil, fuel or something. Suddenly you'll find the AI dive and jink and go into scissors to avoid getting shot. Something I don't see in undamaged AI were they just fly lazy circles.
  11. And that's why we still don't have a full fidelity Sopwith Camel! isn't the GR 9 and Marine harrier quite close in capabilities. As close many other (loadouts makes it close enough) I think the GR9 could use Amraams (though without air to air radar) But in air to ground. I think they are quite close.
  12. If you're recording the trackfile then the headset has zero effect on blurriness. You can fly with the lowest graphics options in vr and then max out the graphic for the track file. The track file only records what happens. Not what is seen through the headset. I record live my VR playing with very high settings in OBS. Then I increase the graphics to max and record external stuff in OBS.
  13. Shouldn't be any blurriness unless you're using an old headset like Rift or mabye the Quest 2. With stuff like G2, Quest 3, Pico 4, Varjo and crystal. There Shouldn't be any blurriness. This video is from when I used the G2 While this is with the Crystal
  14. Harrier CAP Operation Northern Watch. Video to follow.
  15. Can't really give any help, except I feel my vr footage are much less shaky after I went from G2 to Crystal. Might be the headset or pimax XR.
  16. Will be interesting to see, especially since Afghanistan is Apache country and the Apache is still the most demanding cockpit to fly in performance wise.
  17. ED just released a patch that improved performance on all maps(Except SA). Some see moderate improvements, some have seen huge improvements including on Syria or over giant cities like Cairo.
  18. Can't be much longer than say one of the missions in Blue Nose Bastards thats a bomber escort mission to Paris. That's like 3-4 hour.
  19. It's been done to death. People say that asking players to buy $100 worth of stuff (aircraft, map and asset pack) to dip into ww2 DCS is too much and if you ask an IL2 player why they don't fly DCS WW2, you probably get two answers. 1 too expensive. 2. No real WW2 infrastructure. ED will counter with they have to sell the asset pack. Because its too much work to give away for free/not feasible because ww2 is so small. So then nothing changes DCS ww2 will stay small and irrelevant and its potential wasted. Because its too expensive for many new players to try, it doesn't have proper support or infrastructure. And ED doesn't want/can't invest to fix this. And is seen as the unwanted step child. Classic Catch-22. And now we're told the "big plans" for Pacific theatre will just be more of the same.
  20. The problem for me is. 1. Mods are never gonna be supported in official campaigns or missions. 2. Mods do break and they can break DCS too. 3. Doesn't have AI gunners, which removes realism and immersion when you don't have door gunners. 4. Dosnt support force trim on force feedback stick.
  21. British Apaches took of from the 250 meter helo runway at Camp Bastion. Even with "just" 300 shells, 2 Hellfires. and 38 rockets. But they probably had max fuel with the extra fuel tank for max distance and loiter time. So far in the Apache Dawn book, they've neve had more than 300 rounds for the gun. They also mostly use flachettes on their rockets
  22. Quick tally. Harrier M2000 F16 F18 F14(wrong model) Apache Hind HIP F15E A10 Upcoming Kiowa, Chinnock. Tornado AI B1 If only we had a full fidelity Blackhawk.
