  1. I have pimax openxr running. Not even sure how to do anything else as that's what I've been doing since I got the pimax a year ago. As it was need to use quad View. So I use pimax openxr with eye tracking and Quadview activated there.
  2. I restarted the computer, and I was allowed to delete the folder. However it didn't fix anything, I re calibrated eye tracking and still bad preformance

Can't delete the folder, it says the folder is in use, but I've turn off pimax and even deleted pimax runtime from task manager, and it still won't let me delete the folder The problem is that something call piservices and piserver is running, and even if I close them in task managder they pop up again in seconds stopping me from delteting the folder
  4. If the pilot of an F16 keeps the aircraft under control, the aircraft can hold 9g until the pilot passes out(about 30 seconds on a good day) or it runs out of fuel. Whichever comes first.
  5. I saw i drop. Last week i flew the F4 on Kola had good preformance even with 200 units. After the update. The preformance was so bad the vr screen actually lagged(when you see black bars when you move your head side to side. This happened in the F16 and Viggen. So not an F4 thing. I then tested the A-10C on Caucasus with just 5 ground units and i had equally bad preformance as in Kola. So not a Kola problem either. But seems to be universal across aircraft and maps. I've tried fildeling with Quadview settings. And there is a clear preformance drop. So much so I had to check my ram, and CPU hadn't done something odd. I have 64gig ddr5 ram, i7 13700k at 5.2hz cpu and 3090 with 24gig of vram. So if terrain optimisation related to vram and ram. I should have noticed it.
  6. I very rarely use Caucasus because it looks so bad. Granted with the new effects added the last year. The forests actually look very good. Especially a few thousand feet up. But built up areas, fields and textures just don't do it for me. Yesterday I flew the a10 on Caucasus relearning some stuff and flew low over a field. On maps like Syria, Kola, Normandy 2. The jet wash interacts great with the grass and shrubbery. But flying over thst field in Caucasus. The grass didn't so much blow from the jet wash, as it more shook. I'd happily pay 20-40 for a really well made Caucasus update. But since it seems impossible to have detailed Ukraine. I'd ask they move the map further east or south. And simply not cover the Ukraine part. Spending time and resources on redoing the map. When 1/3 simply can't be fixed because of political reasons, seems a waste.

I have many ground units set to basic movement, but only a handful move, I don't know if this is a general ground unit bug, or a bug with the Kola map, where the ground AI thing the ground is impassable. But it seems AI related as it random of the move, whenever I start a mission, sometimes some units move, some times no units move. I've tried to have the ground units start at 5knot or at 0knots, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Valley of Death.miz
  8. Yay managed to make a video that was less than 10 minutes! A short sharp dogfight in my favourite Swedish valley. I saved my wingman and my wingman saved me. And two soviet pilots will enjoy Swedish hospitality.
  9. Except for the runway preview pictures not matching the early release. Everything else matching. They said from the start they would used satellite images. And anyone who had flown on South Atlantic new what that ment. Bad low level textures. And we could see it on most of the other pictures how it would be. So if you paid attention you knew what you paid for. Compare that to Afghanistan. That had only shown a handful of pictures, and some very very select vidoes second. With no talk of satellite technology being used. Instead talking about using the latest and best terrain technology. So when we got the map, many thought something was actually wrong with our downloads. As many couldn't imagine this was how the newest and best map was supposed to look.
  10. No front aspect, can't bend as much as the regular AIM9Ls. Gets easier spoofed by flare than the regular Ls. My guess is that the Rb74 uses the stats of a P3 or J and not the P5 or L.
  11. It's early access. Syria has had like 5 years of improvement. In 5 months Kola has had 4 major update with huge improvement. Kola looks really good now. And it looks good from quite low. Still needs work for it to be helo heaven like Syria or Normandy 2. The map isn't even half done when it comes to infrastructure like towns, cities and air bases. And we can continue to see improvements to textures, colours, performance etc.
  12. I've now spent several hours on the new textures and the improvement are massive. The main jarring thing is the ground textures not covered by trees. They have very low textures when seen from above. But is just grass once you get low enough. And so looks fine when you put the camera at eye height. Yes hopefully ED can fix their engine to allow for bigger texture files. But even now, overall it the 3rd best looking map. After Syria and Normandy 2. Those are still king of the hill down low. It's far more jarring trying to fly on Afghanistan. Where there's just a few square meters you can use for anything. As even the "high quality" parts has only a few pieces of ground that doesn't look terrible anywhere you look. On Kola I can plopp down ground units almost anywhere and it will look fine at ground units height. Not so on Afghanistan.
  13. The latest patch made some amazing improvements to the mountains. Yes within 1000 meters you'll see the bad textures. But you don't have to be at 15 000 feet anymore
  14. I tried to use the Ls on the Viggen for the first time. And I never got close to a front aspect lock. The missile bends far less than the standard Ls and the get easily spoofed by flares. This is completely different from the Ls I've used on the F16, F14 etc. So is there a historical basis for the Swedish missiles being worse? Or are the default Ls over preforming? In the F16 there is very little difference between the Ls and Ms.
  15. I'm always hitting Preview TM. But I've had serous preformance drop after the patch. A good 10+fps less.
  16. When doing my tour of the new Kola textures. Flying from Bodø to Kiruna. I found a nice valley on the Swedish side. Typical wide valley, in those parts. Could almost see people fishing salmon along the river. The textures aren't fantastic. Though once you get low enough, and the textures become grass. It looks much like any map in DCS. If they could improve the ground and mountain textures. This valley would be absolutely stunning. I have several plans to use this place for various missions/vidoes. So I decided to do a test mission, a highly realistic scenario. The mid 80s, two Norwegian F16s are vectored into Sweden to look for some unidentified aircraft spotted on Swedish radar, Norwegians happened to be in the neighbourhood so easier for them to do a 5 minute detour, then scramble Viggens from a far away base. It's probably some kids joyriding a Cessna or something.

  19. I get far worse performance now then before the patch with my Pimax crystal. I have Quadview and eye tracking on in DCS, yet i still have like 10-15FPS less then before that patch, and this patch was supposed to include various performance improvements. Looking at the VR capture I did in OBS, it seems my quad view settings from quad view companions aren't working.

  21. So how do I make sure DCS is using mbucchia quad view and not pimaxes own quadview?
  22. Tour of new Kola summer textures, some still from my video. A short hop from Bodø to Kiruna. Looking at the new stuff, colours have improved massively, it looks much better, close up textures on the mountains still aren't great(much better than Afghanistan) the but the worst stuff is the ground textures of stuff not covered in trees. Between 200 feet and 2000 feet, these are at maximum ugly, imagine if you take the fields on Normandy 2 but make them very low textures and you got the general feel. Below 200 feet and the grass actually covers this and it just looks like.. grass. above 2000 feet, it's less noticeable. And now instead of flying 15 000 feet above the terrain for it too look good, now a good 3-4000 feet is enough, I was flying at 7000 feet over the mountains and most of the time it looked very good. Only when you got within 1000-2000 feet of a mountain top did the low textures become very obvious.
  23. FU4 Corsair... Nah just kidding. Probably 3 more 20xx and beyond vidoes until we might see it for more than 3 seconds. I would like new infantry with the new animations. But most of all that long ago mentioned general flight model thing. That supposedly should fix so many AI aircraft problems. Any major improvement to ww2 DCS would be cool to.
